Hello,

My family is going to DW in May and we are very excited! My husband and I are big coffee drinkers and I was dissapointed to find out that POP Century doesn't have a coffee maker in the room. I was thinking of bringing my own. Has anyone ever done this? Does it make sense? Is the coffee in the cafeteria good and is it a far walk in the morning?

Thanks, as you can see this is a priority, I need my java, lol.

I can understand the need for coffee!! I may be wrong, but I think I read that you are not allowed to bring your own, or any type of cooking appliance, because of fire safety regulations. You could try calling and ask if it is permitted. Good luck getting your coffee fix each day!!

oh no, this is not good! May need to request a room close to the cafeteria then. My husband gets cranky with no joe in the morning (as do I!)

We brought our own coffee pot 2 years ago. On the recent trip 2 months ago we brought a small water heater pot, bottled water, and Starbucks VIA packs. The coffee tasted great and we avoided a trip to the food court, that way we could head out early to the parks each day.

I brought a new 10 cup Mr. Coffee when we stayed at All Star Music in 2008. Before my trip, I had coordinated with one of the fridge swap organizers and I added the coffee machine to the swap.

I always bring my own coffee pot...Just because I am not to sure how clean and sanitized the ones in our room is!

We have brought our own coffee pot (and water -- don't like the way the water there tastes!), but make sure to bring an extension cord or power strip since coffee pots don't usually have a long cord. We have also done as a previous poster suggested and brought Via packets. We didn't heat the water, though -- we used our refillable mugs and got water at the food court. We even took the packets in the parks. Just like with ice water, anywhere that has hot drinks for sale will (usually) let you have a cup of hot water for free. We like to bring our own coffee b/c I really don't care for the Nescafe they serve in most restaurants.

We brought our own this past January and it was a great thing. I was concerned about fire regs, but we cleaned it and made sure it was cool and then hid it in our drawer. We ran hot water through it every morning for oatmeal and hot chocolate as well as my DH's coffee. It saved us quite a bit of money. It was really the only time we used the refillable mugs-on our own coffee!

My mother-in-law NEVER travels without her own coffee pot. Don't know why but that's a bag she will NEVER leave at home. She had it at Disney World last month and it was fine. Heck, we even brought our own mini-fridge.

I would suggest that you unplug the maker after you are done for the morning.

When we stayed Value we brought travel french presses (Boden) they were super and all we needed was hot water. The Nescafe stuff at the food courts is awful.

If you are a true coffee lover, you're going to be quite disappointed with the coffee at POP. We bought refillable mugs with the intention of chugging it down like no tomorrow, only to find out it's Nescafe. Bleck! We were there 11 days, so that was a looooong time to not have real coffee first thing in the a.m.

I brought my own coffee and filters last April when we stayed at CBR and those coffee pots were the pod type so I had to cut my filters way down...I know they say that AOA is to have coffee pots in the rooms, but, I am leary, so I may just bring my small one and have it set for the morning in our bedroom...can't wait to hear what size they really are.

We brought our own Mr.Coffee when we stayed at ASMu...we like cream and my husband likes those french vanilla creamers so I bought a supply of those little prepackaged ones and brought them along too. I also brought along two mugs. We stopped at a grocery store and bought bananas and a package of donuts, so we ate breakfast in the room, no crowds or looking for a table...it was great!

The first year we visited WDW the Nescafe coffee took us by surprise. It was soooo bad that we drove to Walmart and bought a coffee pot and all the fixings to make coffee in the room. We didn't hide it, just left it out in the open. It wasn't an issue at all. Every year since we have brought our own. Nothing like waking up to a good cup of Joe.
Definitly bring your coffee pot!!

I am really surprised that people have been allowed to bring coffee pots--I swear I read on the Disney site that you couldn't, but perhaps that was just a Shades of Green rule. That's really great that people have been able to do it. I definitely think you should be able to if they don't provide one. Good luck in your quest for coffee!

Haven't taken coffee pot any time but this sounds interesting to carry your own coffee pot… ;)

My husband always jokes about how we can never travel light to WDW -- we always have our coffee pot, power strip, snacks, drinks, etc with us, and if it's the holidays, we've been known to take a small tree and all kinds of decorations. We've even put up Halloween decorations!

Last year we flew for the first time and it was really tough!

I am debating on whether I want to take a coffee pot with me too. Can anyone tell me if I have to put this in my carry-on or in checked bag?
Thanks :flower3:
