Bring us a Shrubbery!! May 25-June 1, 2007!!

Just want to jump on the Good Grub/Adult Beverage lover's bandwagon. Only been to the World twice in 20 years, being a left-coaster, but I have liquidated my granddaughter's college fund to finance a Disney Cruise next year. (Just kidding about the college $ but a second on the house might be in order!) And of course since we have to make the long trek across the country, we will be spending at least a week at WDW, too.

We are lifelong lovers of Disneyland since our first visit the year it opened. But DL is sadly lacking in the good eats department. WDW is indeed a whole nother story! Our first WDW trip was back in 1986 so food choices were pretty limited. (Please, no comments about when you were born. ) We spent two full days eating & drinking our way around Epcot. Imagine our surprise to discover a restaurant IN the castle at Magic Kingdom! And keep in mind there was no such thing as character meals or ADRs back then. Our last visit was in 2006. My oh my, how things had changed. Since we went without children, our focus was less about amusement park rides but rather the discovery of the gastranomic delights with the added ingredient of pixie dust.

My search for dining options led me to the Dis and all the fabulous trip reports. And many, many hours of menu browsing at Deb's site as well. So here I am, living vicariously & counting the lonnnnggg months until our trip across the continent. Please, please, pleeeez...(with cherry, whip cream but no nuts) include lots of detailed desciption & pictures.:thumbsup2

I do have a question for all you experts: which restaurants are NOT on the DDP? You see, my research leads me to believe that there has been a decline in both the offerings & ambiance at the eateries that participate. I am more than a little miffed about that possibility. I would just as soon choose the non-participants if this alledged trend continues.

Barndweller, hello and thanks for stopping by!! I will do my best to give you lots of good pictures and details. If you want something to tide you over you can follow the link in my signature for a dining report I did from our most recent trip in October (As God is My Witness)... it's ten days of pictures and food and inlcudes the Food & Wine Festival.

Speaking of F&W...you simply must come to WDW in October some time if you enjoy good eats. The Food & Wine Festival is one of the primary reasons we go to WDW in the fall.

Off the top of my head, restaurants not included on the DDP inlcude Bistro Paris, Victoria & Albert's, all restaurants in the Swan and the Dolphin...I'm sure there must be some others - feel free to chime in here, fellow foodies! But there are a lot of places that do accept DDP - we were pleasantly surprised in Ocotber by just how many dining options were available to us under the plan.

I hope to see more of you around here - we're all food and drink lovin' DIS-buddies around here. We're a fun group! :thumbsup2

Oh, and I hope you enjoy your Disney Cruise - we had to cancel ours for this year, but we've sailed twice before and it's a lovely experience. :goodvibes

I think I have to induct new members of the Larded and Loaded Tour.
The foodie talk is making me drool. It's not a good look for me.

So now, I'm torn for October. So many choices that I  and not much
time to do them. I had been leaning toward the non-DDP places because
of the comment about the decline in variety since DDP took over.

Keep it up, foodies! :dance3:

I'm trying to figure out our options for Ocotber, too!

We've decided to forgo another visit to V&A in favor of a signature dinner during F&W (we hope) and I know that we want to try for a Le Cellier food & wine pairing...but otherwise I'm still pretty clueless.

Oh, and I want to eat at Bistro Paris on my birthday!

We now return you to the pre-trippe before the pre-trippie!! :lmao:

I don't need a new dress to wear to dinner at V&A but I want one anyway...

Look what I found:

You could wear that to Party for the Senses! DH said the magical words the other night so we may be joining you in October for a little gluttony!! Woo Hoo!

PS: if you like Ann Taylor you should check out White House/Black Market. Love them!!

The regular Ann Taylor... although I like Loft a lot, too.

I usually buy a lot of their stuff on-line (better selection and great sales) and then if I don't like the look of it once I receive it I just take it back to a local store.

I know what you mean though about the intimidation thing...their sales staff can be a bit snooty. When I run across those people I bring up an embarrassing topic of conversation to make them go away. ;)

Sweet!!!! Party for the Senses here we come!! :cool1:

That dress looks lovely, a girl can't ever have too many little black dresses :thumbsup2

He Who Has No Voiced Opinions has spoken....

"Leave the ADRS alone; they're fine."

Succinct, that's my man.

Of course, I probably shouldn't have tried to have this conversation in the middle of a televised baseball game, but we were losing 10-0 so it seemed like as good a time as any. :lmao:

Sounds like mine when I ask him ANYTHING, if he is playing a game on the computer.

"Babe, I need this email address."

"..................."

"Babe?"

".................."

"Are you even hearing me?"

".......huh?"

:sad2:

Loooooove Ann Taylor. Especially when they do their sales! I got a wonderful black polka-dotted dress there on super-duper clearance for something like $25 YEARS ago and I still wear it all the time.

Time for a restructure - I found a new libation offering!!!

Look at what I found on the menu from Artist Point:

Grand Marnier Flight - Grand Marnier, Grand Marnier 100 year Anniversary, and Grand Marnier 150 year Anniversary (1/2 oz each). - $22.00

Port Flight (1-oz pour) - Graham's 10 year, 20 year, 30 year and 40 year. - $22.00

Even when their stuff isn't on sale (depending on the price) I still love to shop there because it holds up so well. I have stuff in my closet from 10 years ago that still looks great (I just wish it still fit me!).

Yours, too???? :lmao:

Wait a second, nobody ever told me this whole "eating at places with real chairs" thing involved getting to buy new dresses!

I may have to rethink my whole dining philosophy!

I wonder if we can just show up there to drink?

I knew I liked you for a reason.

The BF is from Alton, Illinois -- my first trip home with him, I got extremely confused when everyone started ordering shots of 'Grandma' at the bar.
I never used to drink it, but it's starting to grow on me...

Well, thanks to DisneyDuet's fabulous, mouthwatering review of Artist Point and the exciting alcoholic opportunities I discovered on their February 2007 menu, I have changed our ADRs....just a wee bit.

Instead of having dinner at Rose and Crown on Friday night, we're going to have dinner at AP instead. A 7:30PM ressie - just ask for a window seat when you check in!

As much as we love R&C, we've eaten there many times and we just thought it would be nice to try another new place (with new booze) instead.

When I first emailed Jason today about this switch here's how he responded:

"Whatever you want, boozy."

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I'm going to leave work soon and go home and eat cottage cheese and pears for dinner before spending 60 minutes on the exercise bike. After I revive myself I'm going to update my October trip report. :upsidedow

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: That's totally the St. Louis metro-area accent kicking in.

I really like the port selection - I think it would be quite tasty with the cheese plate as well as with the Coffee Two Ways, dessert.

What, you ask, is Coffee Two Ways?

Well, let me share the description with you....

Mochaccino bread pudding and vanilla latte creme brulee

Yeah, I think some port(s) would pair really well with those babies. :thumbsup2

:cool2: I have converted another one! My evil plan is falling into place!! pirate: DH drinks Grahams and Taylor Fladgate. I showed him the updated menu and he was bummed we will not be dining there in May. He said, and I quote " Well I guess we will have to eat there in October." :woohoo:
