Hey,

I have a tee time at Oak Trail in a few weeks. I've never gone golfing before, so I'm not sure if I'm supposed to bring my own golf balls? How many should I bring for 2 people? I'm assuming the fact that it would be cheaper to buy them up here and bring them down rather than buying them at Disney

Thanks!

I've never heard of golf balls being either rented or loaned out at any golf course other than miniature golf. You either have to bring your own or buy them at the pro shop.

Anything you can bring with you will save alot of money. I won't take my clubs to WDW but do rent them there...quite pricey but what they rent are better than what I own. We don't rent shoes or take ours with us....tennis shoes are fine for us but we do take tees and golfballs. We've played a few times and we're from the northeast of Ohio and the rough in Florida is alot different than home.....when the ball settles in the rough is gets swallowed up and very had to find.....I took a dozen balls for 18 holes can finished with one.....narrow fairways down there are a challange, we also took a small soft sided cooler with some beverages for quench our thirst. It is alot different but alot of fun, collared shirts required and we did the twilight hours (cheaper rate) but it was hard getting 18 holes in...it got pretty dark the last couple of holes. Hope you have a great round and enjoy the scenery, courses in WDW are beautiful.

1) You don't rent golf balls.
2) OK, you really do, but it is not intentional - they are called "lost balls".
3) Either in the woods or in the water.
4) Buy some cheapies at Walmart.
5) Pro-Shop balls ARE ALWAYS expensive.

If you've never gone golfing before, I'd suggest buying the least expensive balls you can find at home and be prepared to lose many of them! But have fun, and as long as you relax and enjoy it, you'll enjoy yourself.

I golfed at Oak Trails once, and I don't remember losing any balls. It's a pretty straight but long course. I'd probably bring about 6-8 balls for two people, and make sure you bring some tees, too.

he is right, you can find some pretty nice balls in the woods..............and take your time in there looking for them..............no one will mind waiting.:rotfl:

A golfing buddy of mine showed me his "lucky" ball...

1) It floats so you can get it out of the water
2) When you whistle, it will "chirp" so you can find it in the rough
3) It slightly glows in the dark to make it easier to find.

I asked him where he got one, it would be great for me...

"I found it."

I think I had a net gain at Oak Trail. I don't recall losing any of my Top Flights, but found a couple of Titleists.

LBV was a different story.

"I found it."

My dad always found more than he lost. While looking for his, he usually found 2 or 3.

He'd end up with so many that they will probably be found for years along the Saugus River, where he'd practice his tee shots from the backyard...or floating out in the Atlantic from Boston to Britain...

You definitely want to bring your own balls. I suggest buying a box (1 dozen) at the local Wal-Mart nearby. How many you need will depend on how good of a golfer you are, and how many balls you anticipate losing on the course.

Do NOT buy balls at the pro shop or you will be gouged horribly. The last time I played at the Magnolia, I didn't have time to buy balls so I bought a dozen at the pro shop. They were low-end Pinnacle balls with Disney logos on them that would normally sell for around $15-$20/dozen on the outside - they charged me almost $50.

1) It should be noted thast you only find balls where YOU should not be.
2) Like in the water or in the woods or out of bounds.
3) So, not too sure if finding balls is a good goal for golfers.

Especially on some of the Disney courses. At Magnolia, I was told by the starter that if I hit out of bounds or near an alligator, consider the ball lost. And the gators were out in force that day.

hit one in the woods once and went over to pick it up, it had rolled right up against a snake...............that ball is still there...... used to go with a friend, who met an untimely death, and we was cheap and used to go in the woods just to look for balls, very annoying.............i saw him pick one up, look it over and throw it back down..........i looked at him quizzically and he said.......Dalt, that ball belongs in the woods.:lmao:
