Hi there. We need a noise machine or we can’t sleep. The apps don’t work for us as well as the dohm noise machine with the fan inside. Can we bring this onto the cruise to use or will they confiscate it? Thank you in advance.

I'm pretty sure you can bring it, but also be aware that sleeping on a cruise ship where (for me) there's constant low, background "hum" from the engines/propeller is different than at home where it is generally "quiet."

From DCL's Prohibited Items FAQs:
469749

So you can bring it onboard. It should be inspected. If it's in your checked luggage, they may confiscate it so it can be reviewed by the Chief Electrician.

We always bring a white noise machine with us on our cruises. On our last 2, it was taken out of our luggage and inspected. Once, it was in our carryon and pulled out by the screeners at the Miami terminal. We got it back a few hours later.

On our October cruise on the fantasy, it was in our checked luggage. When our luggage was delivered, it wasn’t in there. We asked our cabin steward and he went and found it for us.

Our prior cruises on the fantasy, it has never been inspected. In the last year, it has been inspected both times.

Thank you! We’ve cruised one time before and wish we had it for that time. One night when the ship was going pretty fast, The creaking really bothered my daughter And I.

Dh and I cannot sleep without our Marpac Dohm white noise machine as we have been using one religiously for well over 20 years now. We recently became aware that it comes in a smaller, travel version that sounds exactly like the larger version. Costs less than $30.00 but I got mine for cheaper using a coupon last fall. It fits in the palm of my hand and we used it on our Fantasy cruise end of October and it was PERFECT. No issues whatsoever and if it was checked by the electrician on the ship I wasn't aware because it was in my luggage when it came to our Stateroom! Check it out-Amazon sells it.

We've brought our Dohm with us on both our cruises. As far as I know it was not taken out of our bags and inspected. I didn't even know that they should be inspected. We always take our white noise machine with us - we all sleep better plus with a younger child who goes to bed earlier, the white noise machine lets us have conversations and watch TV with our older child without worrying the other one will wake up.

We had been on several cruises where our noise machine wasn’t inspected by the ships engineer. But, our last 2 cruises, it was. So, just be prepared :)

I love my dohm, but we had one melt down when it went wrong. It was not a good deal. If the ship's electrician says no, there's a reason.

My wife likes a portable fan at night. It has been inspected each time. Our most recent cruise, we didn't get it back until the 3rd day.

I had mine in my carry-on luggage last month. Mo one said anything to me. I just brought it right onto the ship.

Does it have variations within the same noise setting? Asking because the noise apps have beeps or changes every once in a while and it bothers me, wakes me.
