Just wondering if anyone brings there own breakfast food with them? I was thinking of bringing some bagels and some boxes of cereal with us. We are staying at ASM.. my thought was, we could bring it to the food court and have it there, toast the bagels.. buy milk for the cereal? has anyone done this?.. Thanks .. Sarah

You sure could:thumbsup2

And yep, we have:goodvibes

Don't forget your refillable mugs in your room, though..DH always gets to run back for them;) Love those refillable mug stations..Hot coffe, tea and juice all around:)

Have fun!!

We have also taken breakfast food. The multipack cereals (smal boxes) and granola bars as well as poptarts and yoghurt.

When I go on vacation, I GO ON VACATION!
Whatever it is, I want it put in front of me!:thumbsup2

I think taking brekie stuff is a great idea --did so last March and will again,,
yah know it took me 4 days to realize I was drinking DECAF tea :scared1: --all that caffeine withdrawl and I never knew it,,all it took to get me hooked on tea was one cup of Disney's coffee:eek:
I took a couple of instant maple and brown sugar pkg of oatmeal, two bagels(cinnamon and raisin) 2 single serving cups of cereal not the box kind the new cup kind.a couple bags of pop corn --great for when you get back from the parks in the evening ,Next time I think I'll take some of my own Tim Horton"s coffee and tea.

ah but Minnie think of the money you could save and spend on treats, lol waffels icecream dole whips Mmmmmm.

Truly years ago I found out the hard way (all inclusive deal --three boys)and all they wanted was their cereal and toast:confused3 :confused3 :confused3 , now me give me the bacon eggs fresh fruit etc ,but I find it does help families save alittle to bring a few things from home. Disney is such an expensive place for many and few get to experience it more than once in a life time.
JMHO and all the meds I'm taking

:sad2: Well, I figure if too many people do that and the revenue drops from food sales, they'll only hike the prices anyways to compensate! I can't be bothered to haul it there and I sure don't want to take it back and forth to the restaurant and prep it! I was all for taking the odd snacks when the girls were small..but actual meals, nah.

I want nothing to do with meal planning on holiday!

We absolutely do! And you'll save a ton of money - no matter how convenient, I just can't get past spending $7-8 US for scrambled eggs and sausage, when for a couple of extra minutes I can do the same thing in their microwave (@ Pop Century food court) for about $1 US. Multiply that by 4 people over 8-9 days - you get the idea. We also used the refillable mugs for our (OK, my) coffee and the kids soda and juice.

We had an electric cooler that we took down with us (we drove) and just went to the grocery store once before checking in to WDW. Highly recommend it - we prefer to spend our money on better things that we can't get at home - like Disney merchandise!

I think it will save us alot of money.. you think for 4 people.. probable 20 a day for breakfast if not more.. I was hoping no one would say.. stop being so cheap..LOL.. I was just cuious if anyone had done this or not.. Thanks.. I think we will bring the bagels and little containers of cereal.. and always.. the refill mugs!! There great! Love the blue slushie :)

I'd say more like savings for 4 of about 40-50$ per day so take a suitcase full and have an empty one to bring back the souvenirs

That's my plan for August! And DD concurs. She needs it to be cheap (university student), and by taking cereal, milk, bagels etc, we'll be set to go. Although, I hope to have ONE breakfast in the food court...Mickey waffle. mmmmm.

We always do this for several reasons first to save money and second some of us like to eat when we wake up and some don't want till eat for a couple of hours. We packed a suitcase full of snacks and breakfast food and then it's empty to be our souvenir suitcase on the way home. We bring the small cereals, instant oatmeal, crackers/cheese, granola/cereal bars, trail mix, raisins, etc. DS is not a morning eater so would take some of the snack stuff to the park with him. I like my toast in the morning, that I would buy because it's cheap.

It saved us time in the morning. We all love to lounge in our PJ while having breakie. So making it in the room allowed us to eat, lounge and get ready at the same time. Not to mention the money we saved.

We had:
bagels
cheese (we had a fridge)
cereal
yogurt
fruit
instant oatmeal packages (we had a travel kettle)
muffins
jam
cream cheese (borrowed from the food court:rotfl2: )
juice
milk
pop
water

I also brought small plastic plates, plastic cutlery, sharp knife and mugs. All items from the dollar store so they could be put in the garbage at the end of the trip.

Love that!

What's that line..something about being a good cook?
And the reply:
"Yes, I make reservations well"..

Agreed! :thumbsup2 I tried bringing breakfast things one year and it didn't work out as well as I thought it would. The hot breakfasts and pastries always looked so much better.

I have one co-worker who takes your philosophy one step further. On her last day of vacation, she sends all of her dirty clothes to the hotel dry cleaner/laundry service so that she doesn't have to do anything except unpack when she gets home. I'd love to do that but I don't think I can afford it

I do that when I go on cruises! Send all the laundry to be dry cleaned at the end...mostly because they come back like NEW clothes, perfect! I want it all done for me when I am on holiday!:yay:

We ended up leaving a lot behind, which is kind of a shame. I think the next time we go ( by then our food will be in tiny tablet form, but oh well, something to look forward to!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: ) I will seriously reduce the amount of food we bring, but still bring some.

Our DD was almost four when we went so it was helpful to have the small ceral boxes and just buy some milk. But I did bring the small tins of fruit, some raisins and the little juice boxes. They packed well in a long, low tupper ware type container and those all got used up. I would not bring a lot of the other snacky things like cheese and crackers, rice krispy squares and granola bars, unless your family totally loves these. Those are the things that mostly went to waste.

Have fun!!

Oh I forgot to mention Water:coffee:
I brought some as I really dislike Disney water,,and bottled water is expensive at Disney.

We always take water - and some of the koolaid pouches for the kids (and dh!! :rotfl: )

Because we are Vacation club members we always have had a full kitchen so we do have brekie in the room - we eat early and it gives us more time to get to the parks. If I didn't have the kitchen would I pack food to have to take it to a food court to prepare?? Prob. not but that's just me!

We also took cereal and other breakfast foods with us. Do not however take the food to the food court. We saw the 'food police' take boxes of cereal from guests and throw it in the garbage. If you are eating in the food court your must be eating their food.

We saw this a few mornings!!!!
