I was an 80's child and media had definately taken over by then, as you can see.
We always wore our seat belts!
Called my mom when I 'got there' and 'before leaving'.
Never trick or treated except at the mall in next town which sponsored an event.
I did freely ride my bike around the neighborhood of our very small town but could not cross main street lest I be hit by a truck and killed- instantly!
The grocery store was on my side of main street and a can of coke from the outside machine was 50 cents (and still is). In the summer I could usually score one of these a day by begging mom for quarters!
The library was on the opposite side of Main Street
