Okay here we go.

Song of the South, a 1946 classic starring James Baskett as Uncle Remus. It's a fantastic combination of live and animation. Of course, those of you who have never seen the movie, know of it when I mention B'rer Rabbit, B'rer Bear and of course " Zip a dee doo daa "
There has been perhaps a rumor that it may be released on blu-ray.
There is no better time then now to ask for the release of the movie.
There is a website where you can sign a petitiion which hopefully will help persuade WDC to release this gem.

It is your choice to sign the petition, but over and above that, please let me know what you think about this movie and perhaps releasing it?

If they can keep playing Gone with the Wind on TV (which certainly isn't politically correct), than I'm sure people can handle a Disney family movie in the context of its time, I'm sure. Would love to see this movie, I think I may have seen it as a young child, or maybe just excerpts from it on TV.

My wife and I said the exact same thing.... I heard a rumor that it may come out on blu ray disc.
Let's keep our fingers crossed.
I remember seeing it on the WW of D when I was a kid, that and Old Yeller!

Political correctness, aside, Song of the South is a very important element of Disney history, as we know it...

Most of today's young adults and children are all quite familiar with the Disney signature song "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah", which is still widely-heard, and the Brer Rabbit/Fox/Bear characters from the Splash Mountain attractions at DL and WDW -- but beyond that, many have never seen the origins of the song/characters.

I was able to see this movie as a young child in one of its' last theatrical releases (very early 70's), so I am familiar with the film, of which I didn't find overly insensitive, at the time. In fact, much of what I recall about SoTS was a musical with song and dance...

If the WDC thinks SoTS could be potentially offensive, perhaps they could insert a special feature on the DVD/Blu-ray explaining the history of the film as it relates to Disney, and its' impact on society.
