Bring a microwave??

I am not sure if I am putting this on the correct board or not, if not, then please forgive me. I know there are stroller swaps and fridge swaps, so I know that people are able to bring their own fridge into a resort. My question is this... Is one able to bring their own microwave into their resort room, or even rent a mircrowave from the resort?? We are staying at WL and I have a VERY picky 3 year old. He loves Mac n Cheese, but is has to be Kraft (that awesome little blue box just seems to do it for him.. no clue why?). I am afraid he may not find much to eat at Disney except for the chicken nuggets and fries and I just don't want him to eat that every single day for lunch.

I know the values have microwaves in the foodcourt. I would imagine that the other resorts most likely do to - What resort are you staying at?

we are staying at the Wilderness Lodge. I am sure they have a microwave in their foodcourt. Will they let me use it to make my son's Mac n Cheese packet? or can I only use it for food that I guy in the actual food court?

The microwave is for guest use, and isn't restricted to food purchased at the resort. You're welcome to use it to prepare your own food.

We bring microwave popcorn and use the food court microwave all the time. There is also a toaster for bagels, English muffins and such.

I havea question then about the microwaves, we are staying in Pop, have stayed in the AS before, never used the food court micro's. Are the micros accessable all hours or only during food court hours? Just wondering, not that we plan to be up all day, but sometimes popcorn just hits the spot, will bring some with us if I am thinking I will be able to use the micro later in the day after a full day at the parks.

When we stayed at WL we used the microwave every morning to make our DD's instant oatmeal with! I say, use it! You are paying for the resort, it's part of the resort...so use it!

You can only use it while the food court is open. Unless you come home with the cows, the food court is almost always open after the parks close, it's like 11 or 12 depending on the season.

I am not sure, but if I were Disney, I wouldn't allow any food heating devices. They draw a lot of power, and unless the wiring is specifically done for that, it could be a fire hazzard.

That is what I was thinking. Plugging in a microwave and using it is not the same as plugging in a coffee pot. I wouldn't think that the buildings are wired to handle the kind of power draw that a microwave would take.

we've stayed at BC the last 3 times.... ('08, '06, '04) and we've ALWAYS had a microwave in our Room!

The last time - "08" it wasn't there when we checked in but we asked at the customer service desk and it showed up 30 minutes later.

We need the microwave (and the refrigerators) in the room because we ALWAYS eat breakfast in the room: cereal, oatmeal, grits, etc. PLus we make Micro-POpcorn, re-heat the leftover (ordered) pizza, etc.

If BC Always has Micro's as a Deluxe - wouldn't WL?

I'm thinking that you must of been in one of the Vacation Club Villas? There are microwaves in those, but a microwave is not a standard amenity in a regular BC room.

Nope - never a vacation club villa....but believe me- you should see what I've gone through to get a villa - with no success...

Nope - in 2004, 2006, 2008....we've always had 1-2 Regular BC Standard Rooms...and always with a microwave.

Although as I've mentioned...in 2008..we had to go to CS to request the microwave...and within 30 minutes (wonderfully fast Disney Service) received one......

I just assumed from this experience that they came Standard with the Deluxe room.

I think she should call her reservations number and request one....

We wouldn't have made it these years without a microwave in our room!

Microwaves are not standard in any deluxe rooms. Some of the deluxes have a limited number of microwaves that can be requested from housekeeping. it was just a coincidence that you had a microwave in your room for your first two stays at BC; the previous guest must have requested one.

Well, I reckon I'm crazy with you. We requested one at the Poly in January and it was delivered a couple of hours after check in, ditto at the BC regular room (not the villas). No extra charge but we were told that microwaves are available as a courtesy IF they have one available.

Respectfully, as Lynne pointed out, some deluxe resorts have a limited number of microwaves they can deliver to Guests' rooms. If the resort provides it, obviously it would be okay to use. They're in no way standard, and availability should not be expected/assumed.
Many thousands of Disney resort Guests each night manage without a microwave oven in the room. Hot cereal can be made with water from the coffee pot; pizza can be eaten cold.

you have all given me vast amounts of info and HOPE. I am def gonna request a microwave and just keep my fingers crossed! If I am not able to get one in the room, then I will march myself right down to the food court and use theirs everyday!!
