So for 16th Bday she wants to bring a friend. I figure I get a 2 bed and give them either the main br or the second br. Is there a such thing where I can get 2 studios connected to each other? I'm trying to contemplate different options to make this most comfortable for all.

On a side note
Would I be obliged to cover her friends air if we fly and a park ticket? I vacationed as a kid with one of my friends once and my parents made sure to cover everything outside of food. Curious to know some opinions on this one too.

If you invite someone you must be prepared to pay 100%. If the parents offer to help or something else is arranged be pleasantly surprised, but don't be surprised if it is all on you. And don't offer unless you are willing to pay it (unless you know with 100% certainty the other family can easily afford it).

Studios only connect to 1 bedrooms, no connecting studios.

You must have an adult (18 or over) in each unit. So the 2 studios would not work if it's just the 3 of you.

Good point had not thought of it that way. Still going to be cheaper than doing a full blown sweet 16 party so I'll still be ahead :)

I would ask the parents first before I invite your dd's friend.

Just my thought;

my parents would NEVER have allowed me to go on a trip that they could not cover 100% of my portion. So be prepared for the parents to thank you for the invitation, but that they don't' think that it would be a good idea for their daughter to go.

Whenever we invited nieces to join us, they rode with us and we bought the ticket. One niece flew from NY, so her parents paid for her flight.

When we brought eight friends along, we took two cars and a UHaul trailer for all the luggage. We paid for the hotel on the way down and back and all the gas. Kid paid for their meals and park admission. But we did pay for one breakfast at Chef Mickey's for all the kids.

But if she can go and you work it out, I'd just book the one bedroom and I'd keep the bedroom for me and let the girls sleep in the living room on the sleeper sofa. I pay, I get the king bed.

Right, and book a one bedroom that has the extra bathroom in the living area, so the girls have their own bathroom!

We took my niece along one time and paid her way. The girls had fun, so it was worth it.

We took my daughter's 2 best friends for her Sweet 16 in November. We stayed in a 2bed villa at AKL. I actually had bought DVC the summer before & held my back points specifically for the trip. I paid for the flights, tickets & meal plan. I only asked the girls to bring spending money, but whenever we take the girls anywhere with us, we pay for everything. Just how my husband & I are. My DD is an only child & her 2 BFFs are like daughters to us, so we're very comfortable taking & paying for them. Plus, they're very appreciative & also try to give us money. I can't tell you how many times I've found $20 bills in the backseat of my car! My best friend (one of the moms of my DD's best friend) went with us. She paid for her flight. The last few years we've taken one of the best friends on vacation with us during the summer. Again, we only ask her to bring spending money. I agree with auralia, if you're inviting, be prepared to pay. But you're definitely correct when you say a trip to WDW is cheaper than a Sweet 16 party! :crazy2:

I absolutely will talk to the parents of course prior to invites. I would never let her blindly invite without making sure you raise someones hopes without know they could go.

I think 2 Bedroom will be the way to go.
