Bridging hopper on package to AP renewal?

We have a free dining package booked. Our AP’s expire the week that we are there (about halfway through our package. So we were planning on using the hoppers towards our renewal. Can we still do this now with the new date pricing?

Thanks. We did this once before but weren’t renewing, just buying a new AP. We will obviously still be using our APs during the first 3 days, so do I have to wait until I’ve used the actual hoppers first before upgrading to our renewal? Or can I do it right after we check in and head to the park?
