FYI- just checked Into carribean beach. Bridge crossing from Ariba and Jamaica will be closed starting 27th for refurb. I do not know how long- just in case anyone was planning on using it (like us). :/

Seems like that would kinda cripple the other side of the resort! We're staying there in about a week....wondering how that will mess with us. :0 good luck!

They are offering "shuttle busses " to food court area and mail pool. Definitely not part of our plan- but hey- I'm not at work.. :). My believe she said it would be like this until approx. thanksgiving-

That sucks, I wish they would announce how long they expect it to be closed for. We go to the resort for the first time in mid November. when I was looking at room requests, I was picking a room based on that bridge!

Which bridge is out? The resort map shows one going across via the island and another one with a car bridge. I'm staying there in a couple of weeks so just want to plan ahead :hyper:

That will be one long walk back and forth. The should have the shuttle buses available and ready to go at all times.

This thread belongs on the Resorts forum, not Theme Park Attractions and Strategies.

I'm sorry to read this. I would be bummed if I was staying across the bridge. However, this item isn't listed on the WDW refurb list so I'm hopeful it's something very short-term -- maybe a maintenance issue that was identified and needed fixing. OP didn't say how long the bridge would be closed.

Even with the shuttles, it still seems terribly inconvenient for those who had the quickest and best option available - walking.

I wonder if this was a planned unannounced rehab? Or something recently happened to the bridge? If it was planned, not cool...

I read in a FB group the bridge was out for refurb until December, so previous poster's info about time frame being apporx. Thanksgiving is probably not far off the mark.

OP this would be a great help on Disney Resorts Board also. nothing wrong being on this Board. We have many active members use DRB to plan vacation. So if you could cut(copy) and paste your post on DRB , I think you would help many Resort planners. Thanks Danny

If memory serves, CBR has always had designated Internal buses that do nothing but run in a circle all day, stopping at each bus stop. How boring is that job? Maybe it's reserved as a punishment for drivers caught giving accurate information to guests.

But, yes, even with that, it will be a huge disappointment for guests in Jamaica and Aruba who are used to a quick walk over the bridge to get to OPR.

So obviously this will cut out access to Caribbean Cay, that bums me out we were excited to see this area staying at CBR for the first time starting Friday :/

Oh no, we staying here 8/28 thru 9/6 and planned on a lot of resort time. I requested aruba bldg. due to it's close proximity to pool/food court.

That is SO frustrating. We planned our first stay there this fall and picked rooms specifically for that bridge.
