Bride-to-be's totally confusing PJ - Beach towel design =o)

If it was cheaper than the castle wedding then maybe we might be interested - but I doubt it is. I just saw a podcast about a family who got the whole island to themselves for 1 day - it looked like fun!

Honestly if we could just get a small corner of a beach so we could all just sit together I would be happy. I told them I wasn't trying to get something for nothing - but that still didn't seem to make a difference.

My Whole group was able to get chairs and all sit together (30 of us) on the family beach. No one bothered us and we even had whole sections of the water and all in front of the 25 or so beach chairs all to our selves.

To start off with there is a rule against having a cake in Palo - it may have not been in place when you were there but it is now. We were told that even if we did have the entire place rented to ourselves with no one else there that we still could not have a cake there. I think its a really stupid rule but I still have the email stating it.

Who says I am trying to bend all of these rules???? I think you guys are putting words in my mouth.

As for photography I said that even though its not allowed its worth asking about and trying to get. If we ever could get it there would be no mention of it on these boards and I am sure we would have to sign something saying there would be no mention of it and no pictures on the internet. I just want to ask about it - thats all! Its not something that I have even had the chance to ask about yet.

As for the carriage each castle wedding I have ever seen has always had the carriage - I have never before seen the landau coach there. Just because it says landau coach on the website - who knows. I asked our coordinator and he said he thought they usually used the coach - but he didn't say we couldn't have the carriage and that there was a rule against it he just said it was something he had to check on. And yes it will probably make or break whether we do the castle or not. I don't see why when they are charging so much for this whole princess/cinderella experience that they don't use the carriage. I understand the rule about it being used in the park during park hours but tech we will be out of the park before it actually opens.
There are on average only two castle weddings per year its not like asking for something special at the WP.

Do you have problems with anything else?

Cassie, I think this response is RUDE. Betsy and all of us prior brides are justtrying to help you out. We have all been where you are! You come on here asking for advice and listing tons of rules you are trying to bend/break whatever, then you are getting snippy because we are trying to help.

Disney has rules for a reason, Castaway cay Weddings are simple for a reason, Castle Weddings take place at the time and place they do for a reason. Just accept the rules and plan a great wedding accordingly, it can be done!

I think this is a situation where people learn that money does not buy you everything....just because you are willing to pay for it does not mean you are entitled to it.

I think either ceremony you choose will be amazing but in my honest opinion you should get married elsewhere at a place where they will bend over backwards for people willing to pay for it. Disney is one of the richest corporations in the world. They will get by without your business so there are concessions they will NEVER make.

I think you have too many ideas in the air and a PJ is not necessarily going ot help you organize your thoughts and ideas until you decide.

Good luck in your planning!

How rude can you be? It seemed to me that Betsy was trying to help you & you respond like that?

I agree with everyone else. Betsy was simply trying to help you out since she knows a lot about the CC and DCL weddings. The previous brides still visit this board to try and help out the upcoming brides since they have already been through the planning. If you don't agree with what someone says a snarky response isn't really needed. Just agree to disagree and move on.

I don't think you are "bending" the rules, you are trying to break them. The carriage issue I could care less about since I have seen the carriage in the park but it was after hours. My issue is why would you even try to get around the photography rule where there are hundred of other brides that have it in their contracts that they can't have outside photography in the parks? If I was planning my wedding at the time they had this rule I would either suck it up and use DPS or get married somewhere else.

I've been following along this PJ and I think a lot of you past brides have given Cassie a lot of really helpful advice and ideas.

Based on her latest response to Betsy, I think its clear that your advice is falling on deaf ears. Although I have been finding this thread extremely entertaining, I'm sure there are many other brides on this board that are trying to plan a realistic wedding that will actually appreciate your help.

Cassie, first things first, there is no need to be rude, Betsy was only trying to answer a few questions for you. Secondly, you really need to sit and figure out just exactly what you want for your wedding. Seems to me that regardless of what the experienced past brides tell you, you still seem to think that Disney is going to bend over backwards to honour all of your requests, as outlandish as they may be. Maybe they will, maybe they won't, I have no idea...I guess only time will tell. Whatever you decide to do will most certainly be magical and I hope that your day is filled with happiness and love...good luck

I think Betsy was honestly trying to help you. I know her and if she wanted to be mean she would just come out and do it, not sugar coat things and play games.

Cassie, whether you are trying to break rules or not you sure make it appear that way. From the cruise ship reception, to closing Palo, to inquiring about outside photographers, the coach, etc., etc.

Yes, you have seen coach photos in the MK before. And those people spent
5x more money than you are even dreaming about spending. Those weddings were before the new morning ceremony package which is now the only wedding option. They were having weddings when it was more than a 50K minimum to use the MK at night etc. and there were also a few contest winners. The park might be closed at 8 a.m. but people will be in the park. From what I have heard, the reason that Disney does not want Cinderella's coach outside the castle is because diners at CRT could view it and with Cinderella being inside for breakfast, it could cause children to be confused etc. I am not sure if that is still the rule or not - I thought it was listed on the website but I don't see it now... perhaps it is the wishbook but I am really not going to go through that much trouble looking for it.

I think it is fine to dream big but I think your sense of entitlement is what is rubbing everyone the wrong way. It's not that you are confused about what you want. It's just the me, me, me attitude.

There are so many options for a Disney wedding, if you don't like those options, want outside photographers etc. pick a new location. There's the wedding pavilion, the beach at the wedding pavilion, other theme parks etc. The options are endless.

You guys can think as you wish. Betsy's post was all about breaking rules and how I am bending and breaking everything. On page 16 after we got to meet the photographers I said I wanted to ask if we could use them. I just said I wanted to ask if it was a possiblity. On page 17 I replied to Toni - saying that I knew it was a long shot but might be worth asking. I really don't see how asking is bending the rules. If they say no they say no - which I am sure they probably will but I can't know for sure until I even ask. I just want to point out that I last mentioned this on page 17 and we are now on like page 25.

As far as the carriage I am very grateful to Melissa for pointing that out - but I can't seem to find this rule that she is mentioning about the carriage during park hours. Even so as Pixydusted pointed out we would be out of the park before it opened so that rule doesn't really apply. Just because one item is included in a package doesn't mean that asking to upgrade is bending or breaking a rule.

For saying Betsy Betsy Betsy - I agree its a bit rude on my part but I am soooooo frustrated! I don't think by asking if its a possiblity to upgrade the transportation is breaking a rule and I am not even going to go on with this about the photographer.

I honestly think that some of the things that she has written are incredibly rude -
I guess you are very young and every thought that pops in your head just spills out

I am very grateful for all of the reasonable advice that everyone has given me - but I really dont' like when my words get changed and my intentions are altered.

There are rules. You keep asking to be allowed to not have to follow them. Therefore, you keep asking to break the rules and have them not apply to you. Betsy did not put words in your mouth, she simply explained what you are doing. I know you don't like the way it sounds but that is exaclty what you are doing.

I think you need to work with your WC more. Once you have answers, you shoudl do a PJ. It is a planing journal. Right now you are brainstorming- not planning towards one goal.

Once you know what direction you are going I am sure all of th elovely ladies on here will be happy to help. But only you can figure out what the heck you want to do first.

So, is there no way to do a castle wedding at night? If that's what I am understanding from Sklyar and Toni?

I thought that you could rent out the park after it closes. Is that a possibility? That seems like the logical way to go, and then there wouldn't be so many issues right?

I don't think they allow them anymore. There was a bride who had a night wedding, but that was before they started doing the ceremony's in the morning.

I asked about it and was initially told that they could no longer do it because the food and beverage department in the MK no longer existed... not the most reasonable answer. Then I asked on our site visit and our coordinator gave us a much more reasonable answer that they don't do them at night any more because the park hours vary so much with the extra magic hours and whereas before when it was done the park hours were more normal and the kingdom typically closed earlier. My understanding was that it was just too difficult to try to coordinate it at night.

Not only that, but once the park closes an entire new operation starts - people cleaning, entertainment shows go into rehearsal, etc. etc. So once the park "closes" you have to understand that it's not like no one's there. There's always people there, always rehabing, refurbing, updating, cleaning, etc. etc.

Well Cr@p! I didn't think about that. I'm one of those people that doesn't want to see behind the scenes at Disney. I like to just look at the magic afterwards.

Here's a pic I found while looking for something else. But I thought about the dresses you posted.
bridesmaids.jpg

I like poofy dresses!! I guess it's just me. I have a gold one that was made for me for a pageant that is similar to your belle wedding gown, but with out the pick ups. I also have a navy blue one - again made for me for a Miss America pageant that is like these in the pic. I miss those skinny days sometimes. Sigh! But these are my fav. dresses and I will not part with them.
Anywhoo, now that I hijacked your PJ. Maybe this pic will inspire you.

oOo!! That looks like the disneyland carriage - how pretty. I love the dresses too! I am sucker for anything thats puffy with pick ups. I have to go meet a friend at alfred angelo for another wedding tomorrow - I am going to take a look and see what they have.

After that we are running away for the weekend - be back Tues!

I thought that carriage looked different  . It is beautiful too!

I looked at AA dresses for my girls. They had some really beautiful ones, and some really nice seperates too. Have fun!

That is the DL carriage. I was trying to find pics of their castle ceremony. I saw one that took place in the rose garden with the castle off to the side. I suppose that this is similar to your location. (I've never been to DL).

I had seen this pic of this huge, over the top wedding, where all the bridesmaids wore pink poofy dresses and carried giant pink glittery butterflies. I thought it was beautiful!!! But now I can't find the picture. :sad2:

I hope you have fun this weekend!! I love AA. They have great BM dresses. You should be able to get some inspiration there.
