Bride-to-be's totally confusing PJ - Beach towel design =o)

What is TTwC?

ETA - nevermind..I got it

I wouldn't think that it could change..I am sure it takes several hundred hours to get it set up and they can't change the script much without changing the entire clip

The whole thing is that its totally interactive so there really isn't a script. It would be intersting to see how it all works. But I am pretty sure its a guy standing in a room somewhere who talks and controls everything. They said the only problem would be that Crush doesn't understand anything that happens on land and even if we were on the cruise at sea he wouldn't understand anything about it to be able to comment in any way.

They said in the past they have had parents who have wanted to rent it out and just have Crush say happy birthday at the end of the show to a young kid - but Crush doesn't know anything about birthdays since its a human thing so they have never let it happen.

Hopefully you will get things better sorted out when you are actually able to get there and take a look.

If I remember correctly, you have about 60 people total? Trust me, you do NOT want Morocco at that point, unless they would open up the space somehow (I don't see how they could do this). I don't think there would be room for tables at that point. We had 2 tables with 5 chairs each (9 of us total). It felt comfortable. Another 2 tables would have been as much as the space could take without starting to feel crowded.

We loved the space for us, but we also had no children in the group and everyone was able bodied, so standing and leaning on the wall during Illuminations was no problem. The wall IS a little high if you had little ones or people who need to remain seated.

JMO, obviously, but I don't think you should be too dissappointed about Morocco. I honestly think it would not be a good space at all for a group your size, especially with little ones!

Oh, and too bad about TTwC but I guess I can see where they are coming from! If they make an exception for one person... And they are awfully good about protecting the integrity of their "show" on stage!

Have fun at your PS and take loads of pictures!

So with all these venue's held and site visits planned for the Castle wedding, are you still holding space for the DCL wedding to?

Yup. If we decide that we wish to go the castle route then we will prolly cancel the DCL ceremony at some point -but not until the construction plans are def.

Irisbud thanks for the advice about Morocco. The country itself has sort of an ironic meaning to us -which is why I thought it could be an interesting spot. Truthfully I have never seen the fireworks from there - so its great to know about the wall. That def wouldn't work for the kiddies.

So, of course, I had to come check out your PJ! Sounds like you've got some amazing ideas so far! And, I just LOVE your e-story and the save-the-dates (even if you decide against going with DCL, it was a cute cute idea!). I'm definitely going to be following your planning, and hope your appointment coming up shows you guys exactly what you're looking for! :goodvibes

Thanks Anjanette! Its certainly been a bit of a roller coaster. Some people have described my PJ as "making their head spin". Sorry its so confusing. Hopefully in a few weeks it will all be cleaned up and will be much easier to follow. At this point I don't think there is anyway that we could skip the cruise - everyone is looking forward to it! The question is just about the ceremony and reception locations.

We are really looking forward to all of our "wedding appointments" in may.

I can't wait to hear more about your wedding at disneyland!!!!

I am in agreement with the other girls...Morocco is so small and I'm sure you wouldn't enjoy it as much. The spot at the United Kingdom is very private and intimate. No one can really see your party without straining to do so. The French areas have an awesome view too, but you are extremely visable from the guests walking along the path and if you rent one half and someone rents the other that would suck to have to parties so close together. Take time to look at all the areas closely on your visit and you will see what I mean.
Also, we were married in the wedding pavillion and only had 30 guests total as well. It was beautiful and our pictures with the castle in the background through the stained glass were amazing! Make sure to check it out. Have fun! It's getting close! I can't wait to hear what you decide.

I can't wait for your site visit and to see what you decide. I hope you get married at the castle, b/c very few people can say that they have done that! Plus I will be totally green with envy!

Don't worry about your PJ! Mine is a jumbled mess at the beginning. And then I can't make up my mind about anything. I originally wanted a beach vr, but my family just wasn't supportive of it. Plus it would have cost about the same as a disney wedding. Then we changed to the swan and dolphin, but I had nothing but problems with the wedding planner from JustMarry not responding to me. (I think it is the same with your problems w/ Cathy. I have heard a lot of people say that she took a long time to answer e-mails and such. For some reason though, she would always just answer me like the same day! I don't know what I did to get such good treatment.) But anyway, I also really wanted a MK photo shoot. Disney used to allow it as long as you were getting married on property, but they changed their rules. So with all of that combined, we decided on a DCL VR. It was like a perfect combination of all options - except that my family cannot afford to travel with us, and we can't afford to pay for all of them.

So now we are trying to pick a venue for an at home reception/anniversary party. But I can't make up my mind about that either! LOL!!! :rotfl:

Sorry to hijack your PJ! I hope that you have fun on your site visit.

I can't wait to look at all of the DP sites at epcot. We have seen the fireworks a million times but we are always either walking or we are in italy or in the front of everything across the lake from the american pavillion. I never realized there was so much to consider.

We can't skip DCL :o( I love the cruise too much! and all of our family is really looking forward to it.

That and there is no way that we could afford hotels and park tickets + dining for all of our guests for a week :o(

So hopefully we can do LSS just as an added event/reception after the cruise ends.

Tanya I hope we can do the castle too! I love the fact that its a more unusual venue. Negatives are that we can't have outside photographers and I am worried about the construction and the location of the ceremony. But we will know more soon!

You will have such a great time on the cruise - don't worry if a ton of people aren't there - it just means that you get to have a second huge party!!!! I know how difficult it is to pick places - believe me I know. I would just think about your favorite restaurant or favorite place in the area that means the most to you and do it there.

If it were me I would set everything up in a field in the middle of no where... Assuming you had great weather it would be perfect!!!!

So so exciting Cassie! You're going to have to fill me in on your appointment and decisions the two of you make, especially since you and I are having them on the same day! :woohoo: Can't wait 'til you get your plans completely solidified!! I just know you'll decide on the most perfect/beautiful venue! It will all work out for the very best. I'll be anxiously awaiting to read more!

Our consultant just emailed with a construction update. He really really advised us to stay away from the castle due to the amount of construction that will be happening. I am not sure if we are going to do the site visit or not. I told him I still wanted to to do it but didn't want to waste his time if he really thought it was a bad idea.

He emailed the studios and animal kingdom to see if they could come up with a creative unusual event that would suit us. He said that we could easily do breakfast at Beauty and the Beast with all of the characters. So maybe that is a thought...

So I guess unless we change the date the castle is out :confused3 :sad2:

I thought the castle was going to be finished by Jan 10th?

The crane should be gone by then

I thought the castle was going to be finished by Jan 10th?

The crane should be gone by then

I posted a copy of the email I got on the main thread page. That would be awesome if it was done by the middle of Jan. But the email said it wouldn't be finished until March =o(

Where did you get the Jan 10 date from?

Hi

Just read through your entire thread and can really sympathise with your agony of trying to get exactly want you wanted for your wedding through DCL !:headache:

...not least because that was me 2 years ago !!!

I came up with entirely different solution ...it may well be of no interest ....but I am going to just run it past you because you never know...it just might be worth a bit of investigation on your part ?

The main problem I was getting with DCL was firstly that you actually have to "officially" get married in port before you leave Port Canaveral - and that was making me personally feel that my "wedding day" was in actual fact more of a blessing ceremony (and an expensive one at that !)....don't get me wrong...that was just my personal feeling ....its not necessarily something that bothers, or is interpreted like that by, everyone. It just bugged me alot.

Second, like you I was fast finding that the cruise ship wedding is best suited to the bride who wants things made easy, and planned for her...and not to someone who wants something detailed, highly personal and tailor made to suit.

And third, I really wanted a full wedding "day" and not a "wedding couple of hours" !

We were going to get married through DCL on a 7 day western cruise ...however, thanks to someone on the Disboard, by chance I was alerted to this place on Grand Cayman :

http://www.grandoldhouse.com/

They have their own wedding planner, Desiree, who deals mainly with cruise ship weddings.

Well, I was just completely WOWED !!:yay:...especially when I saw the prices, compared to DCL !! ...and what I particularly liked, was the fact that your package could be completely tailored to exactly what you wanted.
I was able to get my hair, nails & make up done on the island before the wedding too.

In the end we were able to have the full works; horse & carriage, stretch limos, a live harpist (you could also have a pianist or steel band), fantastic sandcastle cake, plenty of our own Disney theming, a wonderful charming pastor, a great setting for the wedding on the pavillion/decking, a great local photographer, spent the afternoon getting fantastic shots on a very quiet local beach 5 minutes away, whilst the kids played in the water ...oh, and did I mention the FABULOUS food ?!! for a fraction of what it cost through Disney ...I could go on .....and only 10 minutes from the ship.
Here are some pics of our day...

OK - so you can see we didn't have a big wedding LOL ! ...our witness was the person (and her family) from the Dis board, who recommended the place ! - but you CAN have alot of guests accommodated there !

We were back onboard the ship at 4pm and celebrated some more at our evening meal with more cake & champage - I continued to wear my wedding dress and it was lovely to get so many "congratulations" & "good wishes" from the other diners in the room.

It ws a perfect day and a perfect way to combine Disney ...and cruising.....and a wedding - perfect for us anyway !

So my idea for consideration would be could you change to cruise to a 7 day Western .......the cost of which could be met by the savings you'd be making by not booking through DCL / WDW weddings or doing the WDW bit ???

However, fair to point out that there is one big downside to the plan.......Grand Cayman is a tender port and therefore there is a chance it can be missed (though I am informed the chances of this are much less in Jan, Feb, & March.).
You would have to be entirely comfortable to work with a plan B should this occur....ours was to fly out at a later date, as most aspects of the wedding were postponable/refundable.........but it could be to re-arrange it quickly when you returned to port at an alternative venue .....or some other plan ????

Well, this is just an idea I wanted to share:idea:..and I sincerely hope you have a fantastic wedding , what ever your plans turn out to be ! :flower3:

jdybnsn, is your name Judy?

Anyhoo I just wanted to say thank you - your pictures are amazing and I can't believe you read through my whole trip report - your head must be spinning!

I wish we could afford to do a 7 day, I looked at it originally but it would have doubled our entire budget. Plus our save the dates have already been sent and I dont' think most of our guests couldn't get away long enough for the seven day.

My whole family is already booked on the Baltic in June, if I could have I would have just added DFs family and our friends to that cruise - but again $$$ and too much time off from work for most people.

It looks like your wedding was perfect!! I suggested getting married in Nassau and DF wasn't too kean on the idea. If we were stopping at grand caymen I would totally follow suit and copy you.

Thanks for understanding. Its nice to have some support. Once again congratulations on having such a picturesque wedding.
