Fh and I were discussing bridal showers because I have a few to go to in the next few months and we came across a curious question.

Since we are hoping to have a Disney wedding and then his parents would like to have an at-home reception, who do we invite to the Bridal Shower? All the ladies that we are planning to invite to either one or just the ladies invited to the Disney wedding?

What did you girls do in this situation?

I am having the same thoughts... With only having about 40 people (mostly family) at the wedding, do we include others in the showers?!?! I feel like I have to do something for them here, but is it polite even though I know I can't include them in the big day??

Around here, it is only appropriate to invite people who are invited to the wedding. Otherwise it just looks like you want a bunch of presents.

I think it depends what you mean by at-home reception. Is it literally in someones home, or is it @ like a hotel or similar venue?

We are having a wedding shower, so co-ed, hosted by FMIL, and she is inviting people that are coming to WDW and our at home reception. But, our at home reception is in a fancy hotel venue, which we are paying a lot for people to be there (well, someone is paying for people to be there :rotfl:). If I was having a reception in my, or someone else's home, I wouldn't want to have people bring gifts to a shower.

Also, there are a lot of MIL's friends who just want to come, who won't be invited to either of our other events. They already know this, but still just want to come to the shower, since they have known DF for ever. There are some people who will just be happy to invited to something, but others who may find it rude to just be invited to a shower.

I believe the at-home reception would be at one of the local wedding reception venues. She's not happy that we are even thinking about a Disney wedding or anything outside of the place down the street.

I dealt with that a lot in the beginning to (and sometimes still am). I hope everything is going okay with your planning :goodvibes

Planning btw me and FH is going great we pretty much have everything idea wise that we want to do maybe. But it's all secret btw us at this point b/c she might flip her wig if she knew how serious we are about it.

My aunt and cousins are giving me my bridal shower and we're only invitng those women that are invited to the wedding. We have 38 wedding guests and that equals about 25 bridal shower guests.

I am inviting a few of my close friends from work but I spoke to them first about being invited to the shower but not the wedding. They were fine with it and understood.
