Hey Ladies

Im trying to decide whether i should do my own make up for my wedding or if i should hire someone to do it for me :confused3 . I am a make up artist by profession so am quite particular on how i like it to look ie i like quite dramatic eyes & am unsure if i should risk someone else doing it for me. I know most people tend to go for a natural look so am not too sure if the cosmotologists like creating say a smokey eyed look.

If possible please can all you ladies send me pics of your make up & advise me if you can recommend anyone.

I love the idea of someone doing both hair & makeup for me as it would be a real pamper just am unsure.

I appreciate all your advice so a big thankyou in advance :thanks:

You can see more pics of my makeup in my trip report with Randy's photos. Lisa Pena did my hair and makeup and she was AMAZING. She also did my niece and Sara looked incredibly beautiful.

janet mednick did mine, here is a close-up - in person, it looked like alot of makeup so I was worried, but it looked great in the pics...

dsnyfan6/18  hun if poss could you send me the pic again as it did n't come only, could only see one in your sig.

Don't get me wrong I don't like wearing make up that looks like you re wearing a ton of make up if you get me.I think just cos in my job i always have to be well made up that im kind of use to it looking a certain way. I just really want someone whos excellant at doing eye make up & can acheive a specific look.

Has anyone ever taken a picture to have copied makeupwise? If so how did it turn out

Thankyou Girls

ok sorry i fixed it.. I know what you're talking about feline. i would try to go on a trial and see if you like the way they do your makeup. it really does take a load off of you before the wedding when everyone is pampering you!

dsnyfan6/18 Thankyou so much honey for sending me your pic, your make up turned our great. I just really don't wanna be having to do my own make up especially on a day where i think the brides suppose to really get pampered. Would you recommend the lady who did yours??

I ve read a lot a bout a lady called Lisa, has anyone out there used her & if so would you recommend her. Im very wary just as i know of a few people here in the uk who do bridal work but aren't qualified make up artists, i ve also seen some of the end results and well what i can i say....i wouldn't of been happy if i was the bride . We re hoping to go for a planning session the year before the wedding but its just trying to work out who to go with as i know there are soo many people who offering cosmotology services.

Also i need someones whos great at doing hair, i have very thick blonde shoulder length hair thats very straight. I really would like loose ringlet curls, not too sure yet of a style ie half up etc etc. My hair doesn't hold curls very well though due to the thickness unless someones very good at curling so i need to find someone whos got the magic touch

Help,help :sad2: :sad2:

Feline,
I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses here. Many of the girls have used Lisa and have recommended her on other threads about hair and makeup. Maybe I'll see if I can find you one IF my search is working right now. It hasn't been working well.

Feline Figaro- I looked at the cosmetologists on the list that Disney gave me, and I decided to go with Beaute Speciale. I haven't heard them mentioned on this board, but when I looked at their portfolios, it was a little more of what I'm looking for- smoky eyes, something a little more ... dramatic. (They also work for MAC) Check it out: www.beautespeciale.com

Good Luck!!

Thanks Nic, you ve yet again come to my rescue :tinker: when i need help in answering q's. By the sounds of it Lisa Pena comes highly recommended & if its true shes done celebs make up which can only be seen as a plus (depending on who the celeb is of course) :yay: .

anna wacaser is another name mentioned, i ve not heard of her before. Decisions,decisions....... :confused3 :confused3

My only worry is that as i ve already said i really want someone whos excellant at doing eyes, you ll find that most cosmotologists really excell in one area. Not all are fantastic at creating looks they re not use to ie most brides go for a natural look. I really need to find someone who has a knack for eye definition (im going all technical now ).

Has any one in their wedding make up gone for say a smokey eyed look or asked for something perticular ie not natural? I know im being ackward ladies :sad2: im just determined to find the right lady as i really DON'T want to end up doing my own make up :furious: .

If anyone can recommend anyone else please let me know & pleeease keep the pics coming they re a massive help

:thanks:

Thankyou soo much for posting that link, Debbie Holland sounds like the person who i may have been looking for seeing as she works for Mac who are known for doing spectacular make up plus she ll know how to do the look im after. Plus a website that mentions the application of false lashes is always a good sign (love them  ). Which of the two makeup artists have you chosen to go with?? Can i ask why did you pick them over all the other companies Disney listed?

Has anyone else used Beauty Speciale ??

I haven't actually chosen one or the other artist- they both seem capable. I'm OK with the suprise! Hopefully I get both! LOL. I really like Debbie's work, too.
I am *SO* going for the false lashes- I love that look too!
I picked beaute speciale because of the MAC background, and their portfolio. I think they're the best choice for the look I'm going for (Platinum blonde- false lashes- dramatic eyes!) I'm just not big on the "natural look," for myself, which the other artists seemed to aim for.
HTH! :cool1:

You sound like a girl who takes after my own heart, im make up mad  !!! Because i work for a cosmetic house i always have to be pretty well made up, i always have dramatic eyes i look terrible if i even attempt to carry off the natural look its just not me!!
Im not quite platinum blonde but im still very blonde & like you looove false lashes. I sometimes wear them to work, customers ask if they re my real lashes & what mascara im using to get them that long :rotfl2: ...i wish!!! Im not sure if i should wear falses on wedding day though as im worried if i get emotinal then the glue will start to unstick which will look terrible in pics.

I won't go too dramatic with my eye make up on wedding day, i usually for work go full on smokey using blacks /silver/greys so i ll probably opt for something less over powering like metallic dark browns. I ll need to find a pic, you find that they may appreciate having a guideline to follow so it ll help creating the look you want.

The fact one of the ladies works for Mac can only be a great thing, i know to work for them you have to be really talented at application so your guaranteed fantastic results. I really like Pamela Anderson (ok she can wear some big no go outfits but shes a great spokeswomen for Peta & Animal cruelty, shes married Kid Rock whos very nice & shes far from ugly), she recently was the face of Macs Viva La Glam campaign & her make up looked stunning. If i can get mine to turn out something similar to hers then i ll be very chuffed.

Whats the plans for your hair?

You have to keep me posted with what look you re gonna go for? Are you by any chance going out for a planning session beforehand & if so are you gonna have a test run with hair & make up? If you do then Pleease send me the pics of how it all turns out.

I think I'm also going for the Pam Anderson look, too :) The Viva La Glam look on Pam was AWESOME! Although I did find a pic of Christina Aguilera that I really liked- it was almost a pin-up girl look. I totally agree on the metallic browns, that's usually what I use, unless it's a very special occasion. I think I'm going to go to the MAC counter my friend's girlfriend works at for my trial run.. then photograph it to show the beaute speciale artist what I'd like, and then I'll have the names of the colors I like, etc.
I haven't thought of the tears and the false lashes! Well, regardless, I think I'm going for it. Or maybe I shall try the false lashes and watch a very sad movie as a trial run!
For my hair, I really would like to go for a loose, sexy up-do. I'm desparately trying to find pictures of what I would like, but I can't seem to find anything.
Well, my wedding is in 1 month and 4 days, so I won't be going for a planning session, but I'm going to do my trial runs locally, and take a whole bunch of pictures. I'll send you the pictures when I get them! :thumbsup2

If you see any pictures of what you'd like to do, let me know!

Hun i know the exact pic you mean of Christina ag...., i think a few celebs posed for the Mac ad even Missy Elliot did & they even managed to make her look fab. Im loving the sound of the look you're going for, sounds just like what id choose too :thumbsup2 . Glamed up girlie look, big lashes, smokey eyes & dead glossey lips . Love it!!! You have to send me the pics & let me know whats the name of the colours you use as i don't have a mac counter nearby.

Test run the falses, think Mac sell them so you may find theres are longer lasting then the ones i ve tried. If you can find a pair that stay stuck even with tears then i need me a pair of those!!

hair is the one thing i ve not really got a clue a bout. my hairs dead straight so i know i want loose ringlet curls but how i wanna wear it is another Q altogether. I tend to like finding pics of people & using them as guidelines for stylists to follow, that way that can't start creating a look that they think may work.

I ll keep my eye out for good pics make up wise if i find anything i ll pm you.

Your so lucky that you ve literally only got weeks to go, nerves must be setting in. Definatly get a trial run beforehand & make sure you take lots of pics so you come out knowing they ve acheived the exact look you want then all they have to do on your big day is follow the pics

Im excited for you, let me know how your trial run goes. Good luck

Has anyone else used Beauty Speciale or booked with them. If so how did every thing turn out??

Hey! I just emailed with beaute speciale about making my hair/makeup appointment earlier in the day, and the Coordinator said that she will let "the artists" know. So, this has me thinking- I think both artists come to an appointment- so I may not have to choose!! Yay!! :cheer2:

Did you find any cute hairstyles yet? :bride:

Hey Hun  ,

Yay for you girl, two make up artists looking after just you is how cool is that. You're gonna look fantastic, im sure together they're gonna come up with an amazing look. Id still go for a trial run beforehand just to get a real clear idea of the look you want. I ve still got quite a while to my big day so no decisions made on hair yet. If im just reading a mag & see either a celebs makeup or hairstyle i love then i ll rip it out so i can kepp it in mind. Id rather be able to show them exactly what i want then to give a vague description.

Have you come up with anything yet??

I think if i had to pick just one of them to do my make up it would have to be the lady from Mac but by the sounds of it you get to be pampered by both. :woohoo:

Im trying to find the image from the Viva La Glam ad of Pam, if you ve got the one of Christina can you mail it to me as i ve not seen that one in ages. They ll probably love doing your make up as you ve got a fun idea to try to replicate. I know when i do make overs at work i love it when someone asks for an out of the norm look ie real foxed up look ie massive smokey eyes its a challenge which for the make up artists makes it fun.

Are you wearing a tiara or head dress at all?

That is too hot! I love it. I'm going to try to find more too!

I found a a picture of Pam's hair that I like! I'm wearing a tiara, but I think it could fit well with the hair. (Her makeup is great too!)
