I last year at epcot, the fam was unwinding with a snowcone thing from Japan and I commented that it would be super cool if Aurora would sign her autograph as Briar Rose.
In a moment of clear serendipity, the very princess strolled by with a handler heading to set up for a M&G. So I grabbed my daughter and off we went.
I just assumed this would not be a novel request. I figured somebody must have brought this request up before me. So we get to the Princess and I ask if she ever signs her name as Briar Rose, and something about a tribute or honor to the fairies' raising her.
You could just see this 'trapped' look on her face, and I felt awful for it. She looked upon me, smiling, as Ceasar must have stared at Brutus. To her credit she came up with something in character to convey the message to me. Something about never learning to write at all until she returned to her castle and that her tutors haven't properly taught her to sign her name as the good fairies called her.
Translation: Every Character actor who plays Aurora learns to sign Aurora's name the same way. She can't sign Briar Rose until there is a sanctioned version of it that they all learn. Or else you might end up with two different autographs for the same name.
It would be chaos. Anarchy. Pandemonium. But... Yeah...
