Breathless for Illuminations

We have reservations for Illuminations on the Breathless. Has anyone done this one? If so, how did you like it?

There is a whole section on this topic. I'm sure if you post over there you will get an answer. Congradulations on getting the cruise. I'm going to try 4 Sept 23. It's our honeymoon..so maybe if we dont' get it..someone will feel sorry and let us on their boat.

We did the Breathless cruise last May. The 3 of us shared a cruise with a very nice lady from Kansas and her son. (We made the sharing arrangements over the DIS boards). We had a very friendly driver and a great spot under the bridge to watch Illuminations. Wear bug spray and bring a light jacket since evenings on the water can be cool. Enjoy!

ecugrad2003 - thanks for the link - I had seen that but I was hoping to get some personal experiences and maybe some pictures. The ones I've seen so far show very little of the boat itself. There will be 3 of us plus another couple from NJ and their 2 kids on the cruise. Congratulations on your upcoming marriage - I will keep my fingers crossed for you getting a cruise. Does the ecu stand for East Carolina University by any chance? If so, I know a lot of people that went there - waaay before your time, though.

JoEllen - thanks so much for your reply. I will definitely take your advice - bug spray didn't even occur to me. Since we will be going in August, I will definitely take rain ponchos. They told me that they do not cancel for rain but they do for lightning.

We have reservations for Illuminations on the Breathless. Has anyone done this one? If so, how did you like it?

We just did Breathless in April. It was okay, but I prefer the pontoon boats. My DS and DH went on the Breathless Illuminations cruise a few years ago and they went really fast and did donuts out in the water. It was a really wild ride.

Now, however there is a speed restriction on Breathless and the pontoon boats go faster. And no more wild and crazy stunts (at night in the dark--which is probably a good thing on reflection ).

Our driver did open it up once on a straight away, but he said that strictly speaking he really wasn't supposed to.

Given the other limitations of Breathless: Technically, there is no eating on board. There is a limit of 7 passengers. You can not get up and walk around on Breathless like you can on a pontoon boat. There is a physical barrier between the folks up front and the folks in the back. And now, the speed restriction. The price is also more expensive. My choice would be for a pontoon boat cruise (unless that was not an option )

You got it! It stands For East Carolina University. What's the motto?????????? Purple and Gold bleed through your veins?

Actually I graduated a year ago..and can't find a job anywhere in the city where i graduated. I'm going back for teaching.

No purple and gold for me - just Carolina Blue (UNC Chapel Hill). Several of the "kids" I graduated with from high school went to ECU and one I know of went to the Medical School there as well. I like Greenville a lot - I could definitely live there. Just the right size "town" in my opinion - not too big, not too small.

I will write a report when I return and let everyone know how things went. I am still in the obsessively planning stages. My only challenge now will be getting DH and DS up early enough to enjoy the parks before it gets too hot - neither are morning people.
