If you get to the MK or Epcot when they open, then afternoon breaks are definitely feasible at Polynesian, Contemporary, Grand Floridian and Wilderness Lodge. I also think they work well for Epcot or MGM if you are at the Swan/Dolphin or Boardwalk area.

I agree. I would also say that MK is the real challenge for afternoon breaks. If you have a car and it is not too busy, afternoon breaks work for the other parks without much difficulty, but MK is hard.

We enjoy taking the boat over to Fort Wilderness for a break from the turmoil at the MK. Have an inexpensive lunch at the Trail's End, enjoy the peace and tranquility for a bit and then head back over all refreshed and ready for the rest of the day.

While we do not have small children anymore I think that it would not be hard to find a picnic spot or somewhere that they could take a quick nap while the parents sit and watch the lake. If the kids just need to let off a little steam there are play areas all around. JMO

I think all the onsite resorts work well for a mid day break. We stayed at All Star Sports on our first trip. Getting back to the room during the day was a snap. No matter what time we left the parks, we never waited more than 10 minutes for a bus.
