Breaking NEWS PHOTO SESSIONS!!!!!! :-)

Has anyone paid their photo session fee with their Disney Rewards card from their Disney Visa?
I didn't, but I'm sure it will work. At Grand Floridian, the photographer at the PhotoPass desk gave me a laminated card with a barcode on it that I had to take into the gift shop to pay the fee. The CM in the gift shop scanned the barcode into her cash register and it was like any other purchase. I charged the $25 to my room key, but I'm sure the rewards card would have also worked.

i think the very fact theyare increasing the price means that there is demand for the product, if they can get away with charging a higher price and people pay it, then they will.

do you think they are concerned about people saying they wont pay an increase? no way, as theres plenty of people that will pay a higher price.

this reminds me of a radio phone in, i once listened to, there were tons of people complaining about an extra booking fee arrangement of £2 (thats $4) for paying with their credit card for stadium and concert bookings. well, its just a fact of life if they can charge more they will.

theres no shortage of people to book the resort photopass session, hence the rollout to other resorts....

from a UK perspective, this is still incredibly cheap due to the weakness of the US Dollar

I was told that you could; it's just like any other Visa card at WDW. But you can't pre-order your PhotoPass CD with it. The PhotoPass site doesn't accept it for some reason. :confused3
Great info to know. Thanks!

So I wonder if I book now for Sept and get quoted $25.00 if they will honor $25 if the price goes up? I am going to try it and see what happens. I will let you know what happens.

Of course there's demand at $25. $25 is a very reasonable price for the quality offered. There's been no shortage of people to book at $25. Not sure there'd be that big rollout if the cost was initially $50 or more. Only time will tell. :confused3

The fact that $50 isn't a big deal to you because your dollar is stronger is fine for you. For many of us living with the "weak" dollar, it's just not worth the price for the quality delivered.

Look, I'm happy that you think it's a deal. But there's no point in trying to convince others that we should pay double or triple the current price for a strictly average product. We'll just have to agree to disagree.

Our 30 day mark from the day that we want to book a photo session is a Saturday. Does anyone know if they take calls on Saturday? Or would I have to wait until Monday to call?

Please let us know.

I wish they weren't waiting until 30 days out to book. We are going in Oct and I wanted to surprise my DH with this. However I'm not willing to pay $50 for someone who isn't a profession and all of the pictures could turn out horrible.

I called on a Sunday as was able to get through, so I would think that Saturdays are good, too.

Hey guys

Phoned Photopass Portrait line and was informed that AKL won't be available for another two months as there is no desk set up, once thats in place it takes 4-6wks to getting set/started etc

The CM also informed me that the sit down only price of $25 (if you have preordered the photopass) will be going up in price, most prob between $50-$75 and the other sessions as well will go up, such as the $50 fee without photopass etc. This should be taking effect either at the end of this month or beginning of September. Such a bummer as I wanted to do two sessions :(

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it $49 at one time?

I was going to say...are you sure the CM you talked to wasn't just quoting the "full" price, if you don't pre-book the CD? It's $50 for that, so maybe the CM is just confused.
I'm staying at the Beach Club in October, and I had a CM try to convince me yesterday that I should switch my reservation to the Swan or Dolphin or at least BWI if I wanted to be close to EPCOT because I'd have to walk very far around the boardwalk otherwise. (I was just trying to add a room request to the ressie) I was laughing hysterically when I got off the phone - but it just reminded me that not every CM knows everything.

Mine was a Saturday, too... I called at 8:00am Eastern time (they open at that time) and got our session booked! And our session is on a National Holiday - Labor Day!

i am not trying to convince anyone to pay more....but i am entitled to my opinion without being shouted down...

thats your choice, i just think people are misguided if they think that at $50 theres going to be some mass exodus away from booking a resort photopass session.

listen disney aren't dumb, the very fact they have put these photopass sessions at the 'higher end' resorts where for many (not all) customers, the price is not such a huge issue, then there will ALWAYS be demand at $50.

fair enough, if they put it at all star or pop then i could understand people unwilling with an increase like this

No one's "shouting you down." In fact, I see it as the complete opposite. You are the one who initiated and are perpetuating this exchange.

My initial post (that you replied to quite tersely) wasn't directed at you at all. You popped in and chose to quote me in your reply. You came off as argumentative and implying that those of us who object don't understand business and were silly to object to a doubling or tripling in price.

As I said, we'll have to agree to disagree. Enjoy your photo session. :)

Yes, I also called on Saturday for Labor Day :)

Today is 30 days out from the day we want to have our photo shoot. DH will be calling to reserve soon and we will ask if we can lock in the $25 rate or if because the shoot will be in September we have to pay more (unless the $50 is just a rumor- here's hoping! ;) ). Anyway, I will post what we find out!

We just got off the phone with Disney about the Resort Photo Shoots and they confirmed (of course, we know we get different stories from different CMs quite often) that the price is increasing from $25 to $50 beginning in September. However, if your 30-day-until-photo-shoot reservation mark falls before September, you can lock in the $25 rate (ex: our photo shoot is Sept. 15, but we booked today so we still only have to pay $25). So, I am sorry for those who will have to pay more, some of the magic of this deal was getting such a good price. :sad2: However, I hope you all have a great trip with lots of great pics anyway! :cutie:

Last year we did the photoshoot right at the change of them starting to charge. We were told on the phone we would be charged for the photoshoot. Others on here were told they would not be charged and posted they had indeed not been charged. I think they will inform you when there is a change and will let guests know of that change when they call and book. Since that date has not been set they are not bringing it up. When they know then they will inform you when you book that the fee has gone up and what your sitting fee would be.

Thank you for the info. :thumbsup2 Just now catching up with the posts. Thats what I get trying to do this at work:laughing:

Well that bites for me :rotfl:
My 30 days is Sepember 1st!!:rotfl2:
if its $50.00 so be it. At least I will have some great shots of my kids. Though they are not professionals they still IMO take some good pictures. Yes some are squinting but if I took the picture no one would be visible.:lmao:
Wish me luck:thumbsup2
