Breaking NEWS PHOTO SESSIONS!!!!!! :-)

so much for Ivory Snow (99.99%). I was there on May 3, 2008 and they told me I could book more than one session; however, the first one was $25 but the next one would be full price ($50). (I'm rounding up here.) So YES, YOU CAN DO IT.

Now that you have two pieces of conflicting information, why not call the photography center directly to verify the information I provided and post it back here for us all to read the May 15 version?

Just wanted to say I don't take any exception to this (and I shouldn't have called it free, I forgot it was $25) -- that sounds right to me - the one with the Photopass purchase is $25, any others are $50 which is the regular price if you don't prepurchase the Photopass. I was just trying to say I don't think Disney intended to give the discounted price to multiple groups using the same Photopass. So apparently, that's the case.

My thoughts on photopass portraits at the poly

As background info, you should know that we could only squeeze in a 6:30 photo shoot with our 6:40 dinner ressie at the Kona so we didn’t have much time for the photos. To complicate matters, the photographer had to deal with a client issue which cut into our time as well. Once he had that straightened out, he focused solely on us. I told him about our short time frame plus the fact that we had 16 people – one with disabilities that would necessitate us staying as close to the building as possible. So he said he’d take us to the nearest grass/foliage and that’s what he did. In 10 minutes time he shot about 60 photos of various combination of groups! Amazing. Then everyone headed back inside except DH & I who headed for the beach. He sat us on the swing and had us look back over our shoulder for some poses.

Re background scenery, I can’t say that I was disappointed with the background as we were constrained by time and disabilities. I do believe he didn’t consider an indoor scene since there was such a large group and so many tourists wandering around inside; besides the lighting was great for outside pix!

I informed him of our table ressie at Kona and he assured me that he knew the manager and it would be ok if we were a little late. I said – but there’s 16 of us and that could really throw their schedule off for the rest of the night. As it turned out, Kona wasn’t ready for us before 7 so everything went off without a hitch.

Since we were shooting at 645pm, the bright sun wasn’t a problem for us.

The photographer shot 75 photos (not hard when you’re a group of 16 I guess). We are thrilled with our session and just finished cropping the photos to get even more great shots out of our group shots!

MY ADVICE –

1)know what types of photos you want in advance – I agree; I knew I wanted various family groups together. I did not “stage” the photos in any specific area. (Having seen all the GF shots, I had an idea what I’d want at that location but I hadn’t seen any shots from the Poly.)

2)Think about coordinating outfits – with a group of 16 I didn’t even try.

3)Try to get a late afternoon/early evening appointment to eliminate squinting due to bright sunlight.

4)Look at all the photos you get to see before burning the CD to see if you can create even more shots – for instance, if there’s a photo of a group of 4, would it be possible to crop some of the folks out and make multiple pix that way. I did this with our best shots and it really stretched the number of photos we got.

I'll post a few when I receive the CD (which has been ordered, finally). My 110+ shots became 700 photos once I did some cropping to make multiple pix plus added borders and b&w prints w/borders.

I was wondering whether I should have tipped the photographer? I went back and forth in my mind and ended up with thinking that since he was a professional, he doesn't get a tip. What do you all think?

Also, he seemed thrilled that I had a group of 16 so it made me wonder if perhaps he gets a commission for each photo we order? (If so, he'd probably be disappointed in us ordering the CD... although we did order a few prints besides because we wanted them sooner rather than later.)

anyone know the answers to these questions?

Good question! I don't know either. I didn't even think of tipping him and I didn't see anyone else doing that either. I just assumed that we should not since Disney is covering their salary as professionals. Also, I was a bit disappointed at the time with our session.

Now that I've gone through my photos and edited and cropped, I like our shoot much better. I thought I only had 2 good shots but I got about 5 or 6 really good ones that I'd be proud to post...and others that will be fine for the scrapbook.

Have they been able to get the Castle into anyone's background at the Poly Beach? I'm booking on Monday and still not sure where I want to book at. TIA!

I asked about this and our photographer said no they can't get the castle in the background with their standard lens equipment they use and besides, it would not really show up on the photo since it is so far away -- it would look too tiny.

I have the Grand Floridian in the background on my beach shots at the Poly.

does anyone have pics from the Poly they would be willing to share?

I will share as soon as I get them...but mine probably aren't the best ones...I got notification that Disney shipped my CD today...should arrive Wednesday!

Oh -- and after I post a gazillion of them, remember you asked!! :rotfl2: :lmao: (just kidding, I'll just post a few to show the backgrounds...)

mine shipped on 5/18 (not sure how on a Sunday but...); will share when they arrive! stay tuned.

We had a photoshoot at the GF on 5/13 and did tip the photographer. Our photographer was great with the kids and got some really great shots. It might not be considered a "tipped" position but some don't consider Mousekeeping as a "tipped" position either yet we always tip them too.

Hi Everyone, we did our photo session at the GF and I was so disappointed about me wearing such a busy shirt, it made me look horrible, but I loved the color of my son’s shirt so bright. I wish I was better coordinated. The photographer took almost 55 pics and out of them I liked about 5. I will try and post more when I get home tonight. So you can see so different posses. She really was very created I was happy with the posses, but I wasn’t happy with myself LOL. When we head back to the world in July I’m going to arrange photo shot at the poly, but I would like to see so posses and the back rounds from there.

What a handsome boy you've got there!! We're doing the Poly shoot next Wednesday, and I think we'll coordinate. I really like the blue shirt. Great color!!

What a great photo. You both look great!
I think the shirt is just fine ... It looks good with your tan and the turquois enhances the colors in your shirt as well!

Hi
I am planning a family photo shoot at the Poly and I was wondering if anyone thought about wearing lei's (spelling?) around their neck to give it that tropical feel? Maybe white shirts and different color lei's? Just thinking out loud......... We're not going until August so I'm trying to figure it out myself.:confused3
