breaking news on the 2009 Pin offers..

The anticipation is killing me...someone send me a code--not my mom...ME!
LOL!!

I actually received my very first pin code email this morning (we just returned from our first WDW vacation 2 days ago LOL). 40% off room available during several dates in 2009!!

Of course, now I have to convince my husband to agree to another trip to WDW next year - but if I can do that, we'll be paying less than we paid this time (and our incredible awesome TA got us $500+ off our package this time!).

Oooh I got one too! Although my DH gave me such a withering look that I think it is a moot point - what a cheap thrill though just to have received one! BTW, I JUST ordered the cruise planning DVD last week - before that, no code ever... a connection???

Just got mine today. I am rather sad though :sad1: I was hoping for one to come earlier in the year and we may have already been on board with the CND $ the way it was a few months ago. But....we bought a brand new travel trailer last week so no Disney for us next year - unless the CND $ does a huge flip again before the pin expires.

What number did you call? I just called and they said that pin's aren't attached to people's names. :confused3 I'm really hoping to convince DH to go in Jan and a code would sure help!!

You need to call back and speak to a CM who actually knows what they're doing. That's how Disney checks for discount available to someone who calls - they check using the person's name.

Good luck - I hope you have a discount too! :goodvibes

How do you get a discount off your package? I thought this was not possible?

I don't have a code, so a discount at least would be nice so I can convince DH to go back next year, lol

It was a discount offered in the early fall this year, which happened to include our booked dates - and our TA jumped right on it for us :goodvibes I believe ours was a package discount, as we had booked airfare, on-site hotel and park tickets together kwim? The discount wasn't on the airfare, of course, but I believe it was applied to the hotel/park tickets portion of our package. It was sure nice to see our total price drop more than $500!

With the CDN$ in the crapper, I'll bet that Disney will offer a Canadian-only discount soon - after all, they'll be losing CDN vacationers big-time unless we have some monetary incentive to go, right? Not everyone can afford to lose 20+ cents on the dollar for a vacation (I know we can't!), and I'm sure Disney is too smart to let the Canadian market get away kwim?

Our email just arrived this afternoon:

Subject Line:
"40% off select Disney Value Resorts!"

To get 40% off, make sure you book
your trip by March 31, 2009.
Call 407-939-7774 or your
Travel Agent today!
Be ready with your PIN.

 I'm not sure what to do, especially with the dollar what it is now and what it maybe in 2009. I'm going to see how much of a discount it really is.

I want the meal plan can I still add this on? I can buy the ticket either though the disney store or though caa so I'm not so worried about that.

What should I do? Is the saving that good?

I guess I'll call and see what it costs. It would be nice to go back a year early then planned, we were just there this past April though.

:yay: :dance3:

We got one yesterday too! Now I am absolutely torn over which resort to book. :rotfl: One part of me wants to take advantage of the 40% and stay somewhere like the GF, a place that I would never stay at with rack rate prices. Another part of me is saying to be frugal given the state of the dollar and just book a mod. What to do, what to do. :confused3

We got one this weekend too.. but my DH said I don't care if it is 60% off.. we are NOT going next year.. what a party pooper lol

Email said
40% off select Disney Value Resorts!
and it was from Disney Destinations

I am soooo glad that I opened this thread. When I read the above post, I thought, "Might as well search my e-mail for 'Disney Destinations' and see what they sent me recently." Well, to my delight, just YESTERDAY they sent me the e-mail with the 40% off pin! I called to apply it to our trip but their system is down and won't be back up for an hour. Lucky for us, it ends on our last night in WDW - January 15! How's that for luck?

Has anyone rec'd a code and already had a reservation? I'm just wondering because we booked our trip in February a month ago and we haven't rec'd a code.

We had already booked our trip and received the code.

I think those dates are strange, they are covering Marathon weekend, MLK weekend and Superbowl weekend? Aren't those busy anyways?

They aren't covering MLK weekend, which is the 16th - 18th. I think that's really the only super busy weekend in January.

I called WDW on Sunday and they said I could use my code for a deluxe and for my mom and dad's booking too since they are going with us.

{snip}

they wouldn't give us the 40% off our already booked rooms because POR's rooms were all booked too. Which doesn't make sense because I don't need to book new rooms I just want the 40% off the rooms I already have reserved.

I'm happy to hear that you were able to book your mom and dad's room too. My mom and dad will be staying at the same resort as us the first night. We're paying for it. I'm hoping they will apply the code to their room too.

As for your POR problem, they only put a certain number of rooms aside to be discounted at each resort. So, even though you already had a room booked at POR, that doesn't mean they can apply the discount if they have maxed out the discounts for that resort. KWIM? However, you should call and see if they can move you to a different moderate resort and apply the discount. That's what I would do.

Also, this is room-only right, so that means I can't get the dining plan?

I don't see where it says room-only so I think you can apply the dining plan. We are going to try to. If not though, I think you would still save even if you had to pay for food OOP. I'll let you know after I call back if you can add the dining plan.

I called and got a CM who said that the "PIN" unlocked the codes for the discount and because I couldn't give him the PIN I couldn't have a discount :confused3

That's right. You can't just call and get a discount because they are giving discounts out to other people. You have to have a pin. That pin can either be one you received via e-mail or snail mail or it can be attached to your name.

I want the meal plan can I still add this on? I can buy the ticket either though the disney store or though caa so I'm not so worried about that.

Just wanted to let you know that in order to have the dining plan, you have to purchase at least one day's worth of tickets along with your room. You can't order the dining plan with your room and then by all your tickets elsewhere.

You can definitely book the dining plan and tickets with the code. When I made my reservation today she confirmed with me three times that I did not want to upgrade to a package.

This is such great news! We will be saving $131.20 plus some of the taxes on our room. That works out well because we still owe about $100 of our balance.

And $32.80 from my parents' room if we can apply the code there as well.

I just added the code to my package! At first, she said, it looks like a "room-only" deal but she said, "Oh, wait. It's giving me a price for the package." However, there was some sort of difficulty applying it so she put me on the hold for quite awhile. I was sure she was going to come back and tell me that I couldn't use the PIN! But she came back and said everything was fine.

Also, there was no problem with me using the code to book my parents room as well. So, all in all, I saved like $200 bucks!

Took me foreverrrrrrrrrr today to get the correct pricing booked using the code for a package.. but.. I did get a smoken deal for dates in August... I am hoping that free dining will be offered then, and I can apply that to the booking to bring the rate down even lower... Now.. to break the news to my Hubbie... LOL.. I have it on a 7 day hold... keeping my fingers crossed... (and my toes too):thumbsup2

According to the fine print in the e-mail I received, it says that the PIN can't be used in combination with any other codes. It's always worth a shot though if free dining does end up being offered.

Well.. It will be worth the try... regardless, with the pin, I got a really great price for 2 adults 2 children, even if I have to pay for the dining...
This time around, I chose just to do the quick service dining.. LOVED the regular dining we had in April. However, I dont think I want the hassle of making reservations and all that jazz this time around. And, we would save on the "tips" which was an added 30$ per day. I dont have a single thing bad to say about any of the places we dinned at.. loved them all, but I know we can have the same great vacation, on quick dinning.

I recieved a PIN yesterday too and I've never had one so I'm a real "newbie" when it comes to this...question please......Is there also a 40% discount on moderate resorts too?:)Also is it possible to book this special rate online or do you have to phone a CM?
Thanks in advance.
