It matters to me right now too... and every year that I use these points to stay at a place I LOVE... not tolerate and hope to switch from... but LOVE. And agree that it's more valuable than SSR.I would give a damn well before 2050. It matters to me right now. I want to know what I own is the most valuable.
Plus when you put SSR's numbers against Poly's numbers, the Poly has the lower cost per point per year. This is also a luxury purchase, if I'm going to buy this thing, I'm going to get what I want rather than buy somewhere that I don't particularly care for. 50 dollars per point times my 200 points is 10k which is a good amount of money but over 40 years doesn't sound as bad.. what actually sounds bad is not getting what I want for the next 40 years and having to waitlist regularly. Then you add in the fact that Poly has an additional 12 years AND when resold, the price per point delta for direct Poly to resale is closer to 40-50 where as direct SSR to resale SSR drops 60-70. So to sum up, life's short, I'm going to buy what makes me happy LOL.

Now do the hokey pokey and ya turn yourself aroundMahalo or Aloha should suffice
I did not, thank you disboardsDid any other Disney Visa people here on the Dis actually get the email about the $1000 off? I mean, I couldn't have been the only one of us, right?
Wow why am I not surprised im the only one that didnt get itI got one
I felt lucky getting my $15 before the changeYes but you could do the same with the Poly points and remember those will always rent and go for a premium even at the board sponsor where you would be lucky to get $14 a point for SSR unless you had a confirmed reservation.
I want to stay there to check it out but I feel like its a badge of honor to for us owners to own there and never stay thereMany will state they aren't + if it has SSR on the contract. I could care less as I think SSR is peaceful but it all depends on the type of trip your taking.
If you have all the points you need and for solely wanting to upgrade to one and two bedrooms for the next 28 years, I think ssr resale is great.Right.
The thought process is 200 points direct allow more power at new resort like RIV where 150 even with bank and borrow + 24 OTUP is 324. Might not be enough for a spring trip
Rewriting our POLY now saves $650 compared to the last round.
Not going to lie. Some part of me wants to swap to SSR. I can get 200 points vs 150 points for the same amount of money.
Do you love SSR? Do you love Poly?
Buy where you don’t mind being stuck.Never visited SSR.
We are fine with Poly if we are stuck there.

Seven Seas Lagoon? For what it's worth, I stayed for a week at Poly Tower a couple months ago (FW50) in a 2bdrm TPV and it was pure magic. The serenity of Bay lake with the MK backdrop was ... incredible. Not sure which other resorts will offer me that combination of serenity and accessibility. But, everybody has their preferences and no two DVC use cases are the same.
It’s an expression. lolFor the first in forever I dont understand what you mean.
I’ll be honest. When considering how many points a 1 BR and up cost at Poly, if I were booking a week stay and those were my two options, I’d probably pick SSR currently. In other words, I’d be more excited to try a full week at SSR than staying in PIT.
But, where to buy points is a different calculus. My 1-2 hour interest came to a pretty quick end after realizing that there just isn’t any benefit to home resort priority at SSR. Combined with the shorter contract, just hard to see it make sense for buying direct.
@Add-On-Itis - you were considering RIV at one point, right? If the direct points are primarily to use there, you may need less direct points because you’ll have an easier time accessing the resort view rooms. Just a thought. I seem to recall you’re ok with Poly, but don’t really love it.
Hey now I would still be in the same incentive period, I wonder if its possible?I'm afraid @Girlstar30 is going to cancel her contracts and want the Aulani discount.
Isn't she about to go to Aulani?
Soo I'll speak to this, not relevant to this argument but for one I do hope to still be alive in 2050. But more importantly for me is I don't need just more points. Prior to buying Poly I was already at 600+ points which is a pretty healthy amount but more realistically what I wanted was to be able to guarantee a monorail resort when I want at 11 months. Poly does this, SSR does not.
$50 a point is a significant savings I don't think anyone is arguing that. However that $50 is not really worth $50. I feel like it's one of those Bed Bath and Beyond coupons for 20% off everything in the store that was in our mailbox almost weekly. It was a great illusion trick as then you turn over the coupon and it shows that its not valid on the soft towels, 800+ thread count sheets except for twin XL but only when college shopping is not going on and basically anything in the store.Agree 100%. But what if they truly are just sleep around points? Still not worth the save of 50 per point? I do agree with stay where you love but what if you already have points where you love and just want direct SAPs?
Ps I also hope to be alive in 2050.. just saying, getting my money back for my DVC that hopefully I used for a good many years won’t seem quite as important as saving thousands today
$150 after MB. - SSR
$198.33 after MB - poly
