Prince William Police report a man has been shot at a gas station this evening.

Police Sergeant Kim Chinn says the shooting occurred at a Sunoco gas station along Sudley Road Near I-66 before 9pm this evening.

She says the deceased was in the area near the gas pumps.

Chinn says local, state and federal agencies investigating the series of sniper shootings have been notified.

I'm sure they'll know more as the night progresses. :(

*edited to add day of the shooting*

Oh no.
I'm watching CNN and they don' t have it yet. :(

This has got to stop.

Yes, I'm watching CNN as well, waiting for some news...I only know because they briefly stated something on ABC at 10PM.

I then went to my newspaper's website where I found the above.

Blondie, Thanks so much for the up-dates...they are so appreciated. Something has got to give soon.:( :( :(

I'm so tired of asking WHY. I am so tired these days. I don't want to walk by a TV and see breaking news all the time. I wish people would just stop these kind of madness. It's not doing anyone any good.

I wish I can just grab whoever doing it and just gave him a really really good slap in the face. And lock him/her up forever.

You know, it makes perfect sense (sorry, bad choice of words) but it's so fitting....if this is the work of the sniper, he want's everyone to know that he's still out there. The shooting took place in Manassas, VA according to ABC.

I wish they would say something more, but I guess they just don't have anything new yet.

This is absolutely terrible. We have got to catch this nutcase.

I posted a "feel sorry for myself" post a minute ago. Well, that feeling is gone. I am one lucky person to be home safe and sound and know my loved ones are safe also.

{{HUGS}} Blondie.

Why would this sniper attack VA? Why?
It's on CNN.com as breaking news now.

I'm sorry. All VA DISers, please stay safe.

That's so sad, I was hoping it was over! This person has got to be caught soon.

adamak, that area of virginia is in close proximity to dc. there has already been 1 other shooting in VA.

My sister lives in Fair Lakes and she called me about 9:30 to tell me helicoptors had been over her house for about an hour. We believed at that point there had been another shooting. The weird thing was I told her my first guess would be off 234 because that's off 95. The gas station is on 234. I didn't see the news tonight, but she told me they had been showing Fairfax County kids playing outside at school and talked about lifting the restrictions in Fairfax and Prince William. Makes you wonder if it's connected.

The news said two men driving away in a white van--there's nothing to say it's related at this point. It wouldn't make me feel any better if it wasn't related--the thought of copycats brings on the thought that it won't be over even when the shooter(s) are caught.

He must be loving the spotlight.

Is there no description yet? No one has seen this guy? If not, does he blend in THAT well.

I'm praying for the residents in these areas. I can't imagine their fear. I hope the cops catch a break soon.

I went to see the movie Red Dragon tonight with two friends. The weird thing is there were some things said in the movie that made us think the sniper got the idea from this movie.
The FBI headquarters (in the movie) is located in Maryland. A reference was made that the serial killer thought he was God. In the movie they had mentioned that the killer had to have a panel truck or a van. It was just creepy thinking about it.

The police has issued a APB for a white Dodge Caravan as the vehicle fleeing the scene of the shooting last night.

You know how many white Dodge Caravans there are on the road? Too many to count!

I heard a wonderful suggestion on the radio yesterday.

The caller suggested that everyone in the area carry a disposable camera in their car, and if they are present at a shooting scene, they should immediately begin shooting pictures of the surrounding area. At each scene, all of the attention understandably immediately went to the victim, not to vehicles or people in the area. However, if people that are present can ensure that the victim is being cared for as others snap pictures, someone might be able to get a picture of a car or a situation that could provide a lead.

This is a very scary situation. This is in MY neighborhood now. I live just 5 miles south of Manassas. I feel very odd now when thinking about the things I did yesterday: standing in front of the grocery store for a long period of time while chatting with a friend, pumping gas, shopping at several stores in Manassas, etc. It's very scary to think it could have been me. Here's the part I find strange: yesterday around 1pm there was a story on the NBC4 website and the news about a delivery truck that had it's windows shot out on the 234 Bypass near I-66. The driver immediately called police. Now only 7 hours later and 1 mile away, the sniper shoots a man to death! Coincidence? I think not! Since the Manassas shooting, I have not heard one mention of the earlier incident. I take that Bypass to 66 every day and I find this whole thing very upsetting. :(
