Howdy

Playing with my iphone to free up space. It's too much Audio...including Disney loops of 25-60 mins :rolleyes1
Was all set to buy an iphone 5 but apple put a kybosh on that for 6 months :sad2: so I need to tidy this old 8GB 3G iphone up for photo taking while I'm away so I can email and post them on fb ;)

Did I need 4 versions of Haunted Mansion from Disneyland...err...no...whoops :lmao:

Hope Fran is going ok.

I hope we are going to get a report on what you've been up to PIO!!

For yesterday? Just boring stuff Saturday morning like....
...going to the Vic Market, breakfast, went to Chadstone because I needed to buy some face cream and ended up with a free facial, DH called whilst I was at Chadstone....MiL was dropping in with his aunt visiting from Israel.....so I dashed home to clean the house and get some afternoon tea ready. And then they stayed....and stayed....and stayed....so I also ended up making dinner for them as well (no food porn).

Today? I'm sitting on my butz and catching up on the Dis.

And I'm thoroughly disheartened by accommodation in HK....none of the ones I want to stay at seem like value for money.

I agree with that. It's so overpriced :sad2:

With no living relatives beyond Mum, Dad and Brother I always feel a bit jealous of those having some to visit. I understand stuff like this is frustrating...but...I wish I had some family :(

What did you think of the Marco Polo?

I'd like to stay in the Tsim Sha Tsui region....a little bit like going to Times Square in HYC...but I'm seriously considering staying elsewhere!

My profile page has not updated anything since 10-24-11 even though I've posted 4 times since then. That makes it impossible to pick up where I left off. I am not ignoring anyone who may have asked me anything. I have been searching for almost 10 minutes but cannot find my last post. This page moves too fast for me.

Your here!

I thought it was great as a hotel. The location was great, the people at the desk ok.
This is my 'report' back to the travel agent back in Feb...

"The Marco Polo is a great hotel though although check in took about 2 hours all up. They have been renovating and because I asked for non smoking view my first offer was a room that smelt like paint fumes. Badly. I was then told I'd have to go with an interior view room. Which was not happening...don't offer me a real view and then because I don't enjoy chemicals downgrade me.
Eventually I was told another room was being cleaned and it would be ready in a half hour. That turned into and hour. But it was a 14th floor room. Post renovation, with a good view. I will say though it is a pain getting INTO the hotel as the lobby is about 7 steps down...at least. 2 flights maybe. And they only have a disabled specific lift. I have a feeling there is some other option available to porters but you will always have to deal with steps on arrival or departure.
It is a great hotel. And the free wifi in the lobby works great. But it was a little annoying. "

Renovations would now be complete so not an issue...
However I'm not sure how things would work with a party of 3? There was actually ROOM for a 3rd bed (as opposed to the Kowloon hotel) but I honestly don't know their system.

I joined the GHA Discovery membership with the Gold membership (which seems to be their starting level of membership).
According to the website the benefits of this membership are: free internet access (presumably if not included with the room), bottled water and choice of newspaper.
From memory the room had wired internet...which is no use to someone with an ipad..

Wow...interesting...
It is a facinating thing where things go in cyberspace

I got an email from DBF the other day...which he had sent back on the 3rd December 2010
It was extra confusing as it was a photo looking out his bedroom window into a yard full of snow :lmao:
So here I am thinking it's snowing in London. When the average temp is currently 15degrees Celsius :lmao:

That's the thing about lasting. I have not much to do so I can take the time to catch up, but otherwise, don't worry about it and just jump back in. If it seems like you missed something just ask!

Hope Fran is going ok.

Thanks, she made it through rehearsal OK, we stopped at home for an hour or so to put her legs up and she is in bed now with her legs elevated. She briefly came to awake to ask what time it was, but now she's back out. She's got an hour and a half before she needs to start stirring for dinner.

Well here's a funny one. So at the World we never get a unit smaller than a 1 bedroom because we plan on cooking in the room for breakfast and at least one night if not more. At VGC we bought our initial points planning on staying in studios because we thought it was decadent enough buying points somewhere this close to home, much less staying in a unit with a jacuzzi and full kitchen. Well we added on close to double our initial point purchase a little more than a year after the first one. We own the most points at the resort closest to home! :lmao:

So last time we were here, we were in a studio, but two days before that we were in a one bedroom for a night. We just love the one bedrooms, they are so large and luxurious with the jacuzzi tub, two bathrooms, a dishwasher in the full kitchen. We never really use the living room, but who cares, the kitchens and bathrooms plus the king size bed make it worth it.

Waking up in that studio was sort of a let down. The bed is only a queen size and for two plus sizers that's a drag. Our mini fridge didn't even have a freezer compartment, so our blue ice never got cold again. It was just a real drag. So tonight when we checked in, we got our first room where her side of the bed was up against the wall and didn't have a nightstand. She can't get in and out of bed with an 8-inch space to do so. We're going to have to trade sides tonight.

When we saw how the room was laid out and all, she says to me, "Don't ever book us into something smaller than a one bedroom again!"

This might be a little tough because we don't have enough VGC points to stay all the time in one bedrooms, but if I can get things at 7 months with our SSR, VWL or BCV points (well maybe not BCV those are in high demand) than yay! :yay:

I would much rather stay in a 1 bedroom and have my jacuzzi tub! Woohoo for that!.

OK I need to hop in the shower, then I will be back to update my PTR with photos of the room before I get dressed for dinner.

I've stayed in Studios in BCV, BWV, VGC, AKV (the converted hotel room one), BLT and OKW.
At OKW obviously you get the two real beds...so it's a unique set up.

This was all sharing with Mum, Dad and Brother.

I spent the whole time on an airbed in various locations dependent on the layout :lmao:
It isn't an ideal set up but I was just happy being ON SITE. Especially in Orlando you can get a 2 bed for REALLY cheap.

As I don't own the points I need to be mindful of he who has the points...so with VGC I won't complain about the studio there. I personally found it quite adequate...but I understand YOUR situation is different.
I wish we would get a one bed but the thing that bugs the HECK out of me is you get NO EXTRA BEDDING!!!!
At least in the bad old days.
With the sleeper chair...ok...that's good...
But until that you were literally STILL going to have me on an airbed.

TOTALLY get your situation Alison.
But PIO...I doubt you need a one bed. The pool and spa for the hotel is lovely. So a Jacuzzi isn't crucial...although lovely...
It is a LOT more points

Are you trying to talk me into a 1-bedroom for 2013???

:rotfl2: It's double the point cost, so if you were OK with the studio last time, I would stick with that. However, since we always have a one bedroom at WDW it really feels like slumming it when we go to a studio here. Besides we both really need a nightstand.

I have a breathing machine and she needs it for all her pills, insulin and other stuff. I really could live with the studio if it didn't have the darned queen size bed, and there was a nightstand on either side. I think you and I are sort of similar in size, but your DH is ALOT smaller than Fran, so you guys probably fit fine in the bed.

The jacuzzi is just a luxury that I love when we have them! I use it sometimes twice a day. Fran always needs nap time for a couple hours so she hits the hay, and I'm in the jacuzzi. Then while I'm cooling off, I hit the computer and she's still napping. The dishwasher was great on our last one bedroom trip because we had 5 crystal beer steins, we had been drinking out of two of them, someone else was drinking out of the one she nabbed, and two were unused, but when we got to the room we didn't know which was which. We put them all through the wash and took home 5 clean beer steins. I hope she is going to try and sell some of them on eBay!

Oh well time to hit the shower!

DH and I did talk about it. We're not really in the room long enough to warrant the extra space. We were and are happy with the studio.

DS isn't happy with the sofa bed...but then he really doesn't have that much say in the matter.

Unless you go with the 2 bedroom you're still only getting one real bed :confused3
