Do you have any pics up on the photography board?

Good question. Anything happening over there besides what's the best camera to take to the parks?

This is the Fall Scav Hunt thread. I have some pictures up there..

This is the Canon thread....for the "serious" photographers. I play very very occassionally.

These are the photo games thread...I know there are similar variations on other sub-forums.

Okay I need ideas, I need a few different recipes for christmas gifting. I will still do my Peanut butter cups.

You can make almonds joys or mounds, with potatos. If interested remind me in a couple weeks and I'll ask my mom for her recipe.

I have a recipe for White Christmas...made with rice crispies, red glace cherries, copha etc. I'll have to dig it out. Makes nice squares to wrap up and give away.

Oh they all sound good. If you can get the recipes that would be great. Oh almond joys. :goodvibes

Wise, I may not be. But know Yoda, lives not in the Delta quadrant, I do.

Wasn't that where Janeway and her crew were stranded or was that where DS9 was located? I'm getting fuzzy on all this.

I didn't know there was a river delta in Sydney.

:rotfl2:

Thanks. I'm going to have to work on reducing the Fall PhotoScav Hunt image this weekend. Otherwise, it won't all fit!

You could also put the Trip summaries on the same line as the locations separating them by the boldedness and the non boldedness. Thus reducing the number of lines. Just a suggestion. :confused3

Yes. You are correct. Voyager is the main one I've watched. Again. Much to the disdain of DBF. His favourite is next generation. It sort of is mine too. It's just I'm more currently into the voyager story now.

Ya know you put a gal in charge of a ship and bam....off to the delta quadrant. :rotfl2:

Great idea! Thanks!

Is my siggie better and can you see HK DL now?

Yesterday, we headed out to enjoy a little bit of Americana culture in Oz. We joined the American Women's Association Trunk or Treat fund raiser for Halloween. Aside from the entry fee, we were asked to provide 250+ pieces of individually wrapped candy (or lollies as they are called here) and decorate our car trunk (or boot as it is known here).

This represents my stash of candy:

I'd tried to source spooky halloween related stuff...in the end it was surprisingly easier than I thought as one of the Aussie stores had decided to bring a whole set it. The trick was to get in early as most of this candy had sold out within 3 days of it hitting the shelves. How do I know? I went back to get more and there were none left!

The Skeleton Pops were a major hit with the teenage and tween set!

2011October30Halloween006.jpg

My back-up to the Skeleton pops were popular...but only after the other pops disappeared.

2011October30Halloween010.jpg

Marshmallow type sweets were also very popular for those with food allergies.

And these gums just disappeared off my plates!

Some of the candy on my plate!

Skeleton pops looked great in this cauldren.

2011October30Halloween013.jpg

And....notice the other pumpkin container. I filled that with Freddo Frog chocolates....which were the only chocolate I had on offer. Would you believe it was the LAST to be snaffled by the kids?

The American's Women Association did a great job in yesterday's event. About the only thing wrong with it? The weather!

It was a cold and stormy afternoon....mizzle was definitely in the air.....and I figure, with the wind chill, we were down in the mid 40's yesterday.

But we were there for a party!

There were raffles to buy...

Games to partake in...

The jumping castle always had a queue....until it was time to collect candy.

Adults and children dressed up.

Even the occassional dog...

We were fed pizza, oreos and there was heaps of bottled water. The pizza was delivered from a local store and the organisers catered for 3 slices per person. It was about right.

Yesterday, I had thought there were about 50 - 75 cars. Looking at these pictures, I think I underestimated the amount. I reckon 125 is probably closer to what was there. This shot was taken halfway down the 'drive'.

A great time was had by all!

But what did the trunks look like?

Well....I took pictures (of course I did...why else did I go??)

This was our trunk.

2011October30Halloween011.jpg

Here are some of the others....and there were heaps more that I didn't take a picture of. But this will give you an idea of the kitschy to the not so kitschy!

Happy Halloween to you too. How's your ear? All better now?

The ear is doing well. Still a bit numb, still sticking out a bit (tried to put a pen behind it today and the pen fell right off), still not hearing consistently out of it (comes and goes). Saw the doctor last tuesday. He cleared me to once again live my life without restrictions. He says my eardrum has healed and is once again fully intact. He says all my complaints are still normal at this point, and I won't see him again for another two months.

how are things with you?

Great news about the ear.

I'm doing okay. Same old, same old.

I've finished up my last contract and believe that I've been 'sold out' by my parent company again. I'll know more on Wednesday...but I think I'm heading back to work with a previous client. He and I get on really well and more importantly....we work well together.

I've also got a trip in the off-ing. Heading to HK in March/April next year.

Great idea! Thanks!

Is my siggie better and can you see HK DL now?

I'm still on on my computer, but I'm going to bed soon. I'll let you know when I check from my cell phone :faint: This IV drugs thing is driving me batty! I had a heck of a time again tonight.

just popping in to say Happy Halloween!!

Happy Halloween to you too, but I think we're going to pretend we're sex offenders and turn off the light so kids don't come around. Between Fran's morphine confusion and the new cat, I don't want to be constantly opening the door.

I'm glad to hear your ear is doing better and you can live without restrictions (though I'm not sure what the original restrictions were). Enjoy!

PIO - that event looks like a lot of fun. Before I met Fran she used to love setting up her house to scare the parents of the Trick or Treaters. I never got to see one of her haunts, but she keeps talking about doing it again. Perhaps, if she stopped hoarding and we weren't spending all our time dealing with stuff we could do fun things. :rolleyes1

You might find that it goes up on the HK PTR overnight. I know Bobbi and Kitty wanted to see pictures of the trunks...and rather than clog up the 2013 thread, it might be better putting it as an OT in the HK one and then linking everyone in on it.

And then the WFD thread....soon it will become like my turkey! :lmao:
