BREAKING Contemporary Reasort News

Wow... that would be incredible.

I probably could persuade DH to buy DVC finally if that were the case. He only wants to stay on the monorail loop.

Behemoth Mickey's. :rotfl2:

There was also a small lounge called "the Monorail Club Car" that opened in 1971 and closed in the early 1980's. I've not been able ti figure out where it was located.

The Monorail Club Car was a tiny enclosed bar with a view of Bay Lake, and it was separate from the Outer Rim (which at the time included cozy booths and served appetizers). It was located behind and to the right of where the present day DVC desk is located. I think it only seated maybe a dozen guests and it served only four drinks -- Monorail Red, Monorail Purple, Monorail Yellow, and neither DH nor I can remember what color the fourth drink was, but after trying the first three we were probably a little  anyway.

That's how our family feels too! :yay: Hope it's true!!

Thanks for the reminder, but I was aware of this fact. The CR/GF IPO is located in the GF.

FYI, the CR does not share an IPO dept with the Poly. The CR and GF are together under one IPO/Concierge Department. The Polynesian and WL are together under another IPO department.

Thanks! I just wanted to let you guys know they were not actually in CR:)

I think IPO stands for Itinerary Planning Office.

Those rumors about DVC at Contemporary, oh man, I will have to start saving big time now. That would be too awesome!

Contemporary DVC coming - North garden Wing closes Oct 1st

The new DVC at the Contemporary Resort is all but a press release away at this point as the CM's at the hotel have been informed of the project. The North Garden Wing will close to the public on October 1st. A new DVC resort will be built in its place, the details of the exact design are still fuzzy and/or up in the air though.

One possibility mentioned to the CMs was a new 15 story C-shaped building with a central waterpark/pool area like the Yacht/Beach Clubs and a walkway on the 4th floor leading to the current concourse. This would explain the markings on the ground outside the current tower suggesting some sort of northward support system expansion.

Wow~! That sounds like something! We'll have to see what comes to be... Thanks for the info!

That's what is great about the DIS. Everyone helping out with tons of information!

ok, so about this DVC rumor.....now I'm wondering if I even want to be at CR at all next July. :confused3 Seems like a lot things I read say that people would rather switch resorts than be at one that is under construction/renovations.
I've never stayed at CR before and this is a special trip (which is why we were even considering CR!) and I don't want to be upset if there's tons of stuff going on there. My dh has had ENOUGH of this discussion with me.
Ugh! Help!!

Just got this response from the Contemporary Concierge. They said no major work or relocation for the Concourse Level is planned for a year.

Hi! So, it kind of sounds like it will be starting next summer, huh?

We are going to celebrate our 10th anniversary next year and will have our two little girls in tow. That is why we picked CR. I am wondering if many people will jump ship for another resort. I'm going to wait a while and see how all this construction stuff plays out over the next few months. If it's starting to heat up just prior to our trip, I may reconsider, but for now I have AAA rate for my room and I'm not changing again (or so I tell myself)!

We aren't staying in the tower (unless they upgrade us :) at check-in next year, but I was wondering...anyone out there afraid of heights who did OK with the Tower? It's not so much that I couldn't be out there on the balcony enjoying the view, as it is that I'm PETRIFIED that my youngest would be hanging onto the railing all the time and I'd be worried about her falling off and therefore could not relax. Railings near the edge of high things just totally freak me out.

Are they even using the North wing anymore. I was told when I called that I would def. get a renovated room because they were all done. It seems like if the north wing is still being used there will be a good chance that I will get an old room? :confused3 I really really really want a new room!

From what I understand the South wing is completely rehabbed or almost finished and so is the tower. The north wing has had no rehab done at all.

When I tried to reserve a std. view room for next May there were none available, only garden view wing-so I booked that. I asked the CM if CR could really be that booked up this far in advance and he said that there is a whoel section of rooms blocked out that they aren't reserving. This could be because construction will be beginning on the north wing or it could be blocked off for conventions and may be released at a later date. He didn't know what the case was, but told me to call back in a couple months and try again for a std view.

Having CR part of the DVC may be what it takes us to buy in :cool1:PatriciaH- I hope our paths cross when I'm on the 12th floor in October- we missed meeting you last summer :)

I THINK it's only being used for conventions and "overflow" ATM.

If the rumors are true (and they've been long standing ones), it'll come at a perfect time for me. My wife and I are considering buying into DVC next year. If this PR comes soon (and it would almost have to) we'll hold off until they start selling CR points....cause that's most certainly where we'll want our home resort to be.

Me too Mytwotinks!! I was told I would get a new room also!!! I guess we can just hope it is true!! :)
