Breaking Bonaduce

I think watching a show called "Breaking Wind" would be more exciting....

Ok, I will admit I not only watch the show, but like it. DH used to watch it with me but decided it was too exhausting to watch.

I think they are both hugely narcissistic people with big egos, hence, their need to put their lives out there for all the world to watch. Danny says right in the beginning of each show that his life is like a car crash and we have every right to slow down and watch it. Interesting comment.

I am sure I'll get (what is forum lingo "flamed?") for saying this, but I have some problems with Gretchen. She is portrayed as this tragic figure, and is crying a lot during the shows, but from what I see, she isn't a full partner in the marriage either.

She pretty much forced Danny to go into rehab and I know from experience that this will most likely not work. The need to get treatment for your addictions needs to come from within you-not because someone wants you to go.

Her world revolves around her-he has a huge problem with alcohol, yet she continues to drink at dinners and places around him. If my DH were a severe alcoholic, and I wanted him to stop drinking, I'd stop too.

It made me really sad to watch the episode where she was leaving to rehearse for her band and he was begging her to stay and be with him and she said no. In the car, for the camera, she said singing was something she wanted to do and she wasn't going to stop doing it because he wanted her to. And she's 40 years old-should she be singing in a band? IMO, she isn't a very good singer. I think her time would be better spent with the kids. She can sing in a church choir if she wants to sing that bad.

She doesn't allow Danny to go to strip clubs, but they surprise her at her b-day party with male strippers. If that happened to me, I would tell my friends thank you, but it's too controversial of a thing in my life to allow this. I'd never sit there in my chair while some guy grinds away in front of me. Ick. I did like how they showed her and her friends singing songs about God for her party and then flash to Danny in the bar with the women around him. What different worlds they live in together.

And the fact that she said she won't let him touch her and said that if he never touched her again she'd be fine with that. Doesn't seem like she's really too plugged into her marriage.

And that's fine. I don't want to sound like she's causing all their problems, because he's definitely got a host of them, but everyone has already discussed his issues so I don't want to be too redundant. He is one messed up man.

I think they are just 2 people who should've never gotten together in the first place. Who gets married on the first date?? Just so they could have sex?? Not a good sign it was going to work. I think they are a bad match for a marriage. And speaking of marriage was anyone else highly offended by Gene Simmons comments about marriage on Danny's radio show?

I am sorry this is so long, but I just found this thread and I have been dying for a place to talk about this show.

Before I saw the show, I thought "what is this guy doing with a reality show. How dumb." I hate reality tv, but I accidentally saw the first episode and I"m hooked. I still can't believe I watch it.

The children involved in the show are so beautiful-that little boy is a ball of fire!! I feel bad for them-hopefully they'll come through their parents issues without too many permanent scars.

Well said, Linnie the Pooh.

Especially this part -
"It made me really sad to watch the episode where she was leaving to rehearse for her band and he was begging her to stay and be with him and she said no. I was thinking the very same thing...

Thank you.

It was so nice to get out my feelings about the show-finally!! I have more to say, but I think I want to see the next episode before I vent again! Thanks for reading my post!!
