Breakfast

I am thinking of booking a breakfast for our last day -before we head to Kennedy Space Centre - September 24.

I know we are late - I was just thinking in case we skip any of our adr's or the kids share a meal along the way- we may be left with some dining credits - If we dont have the credits we will CS at POP.

I know ADR pickings are going to be slim, but any suggestions on what I should hope for (or avoid) we will have a car, so anywhere on property would be OK.

I hope to get 8:00 ADR - be done by 9 - KSC by 10 (is this too ambitious?) - I can get a character breakfast at H&V - (but I have never heard of Handy Manny)

Kona Cafe has a 7:50am for this day. I've heard it's pretty good. We did H&V for lunch but it was pretty disgusting. Also I would think you had to use a park day on your pass to enter to have breakfast. If I'm right you'd be better off catching breakfast offsite or even off property. iHop's are cheap and plentiful around the area.

Maybe someone more knowledgeable can help you out more.

Maybe try for a breakfast at one of the resorts rather than a park?

These are easier to get into and out of if you're tight for time, you can virtually park at the door.

An 8am breakfast is peak booking time you so might have to be flexible.

The buffet at Cape May Cafe is a character breakfast - from memory, Goofy, Donald and Minnie appear in beach-style clothing. The food is great. It's at the Beach Club.

Other than this, you could try for Kona at the Poly, or Boma at AKL.

The Kona isn't a buffet but has the biggest plateload of pancakes, french toast, bacon, sausages, ham and potatoes I think I've ever seen. And the Tonga Toast - to DIE FOR.

Boma is a buffet - standard breakfast fare with a slight African (well, Disney African) twist, a lot like the food at Donald's Safari breakfast at AKL.

*Forgot to mention - the GF does a nice breakfast at the Grand Floridian Cafe. It's not a buffet but it's a nice spot. It would be on my list after the other three I mentioned, but still worth it.

1900 Park Fare at the GF is a great breakfast also and a Character meal with Mary Poppins and the Mad Hatter (not usually characters than team up but there you go) and it's a buffet, but it's madly popular and I'm not sure you'd get in - give it a shot.

I would definitely keep looking, the ADRs really are coming up for those dates ATM, I've been amazed at what I've seen! That's our HS day, we'll be there with Manny (8.05)

Think I might book Boma, it comes with good reviews - I will keep looking for a character - (i had purposely avoided these when I made our ADR's, but we might be a bit more in the Disney spirit by the end of our trip, but it has to be Mickey!

I am just making this booking so that we dont end up with left over credits in case we skip a meal along the way.

Sorry - also meant to add: if you want to be at Kennedy by 10am, I'd try and be in the car and on the road from WDW absolutely no later than 8.30am.

It's about 100km.

Finishing breakfast at 9am in a park and having to come straight out of the park, get to your car car and then drive - seriously, you'd have buckleys of making it to Kennedy by 10, especially if you aren't familar with the Beeline (which is a pretty straight road! But a strange road nonetheless). And the traffic can be bad sometimes as well.

Others may disagree but I'm just being honest, having done this twice in the last two years. One of our trips back to WDW took almost 3 hours.

We're planning on doing Kennedy again and on the schedule we have allowed 2 hours to get out of Dinsey and onto the road, drive, and then make it from the Kennedy parking lot into the centre.

So if I book Boma for 7:45 - would that work. We will be checking out and have to get our luggage to the car, but are not afraid of early starts.

We gotta eat somewhere, probably better at a resort than a park, AKL looks reasonably close to Pop Century

We will not be coming back to Disney, we are staying in Cape Canaveral that night. We can stay at KSC until close - but I hear its a full day there.

A 7.45 booking could work. I'd aim to pull away from the Pop parking lot no later than 7.30 to get to AKL, park, and get up to Boma.

Make sure you give yourself enough time to check out of the hotel as well.

If I were planning this I'd try and aim to be down in the hotel reception to check out by 7am? You may get lucky and there's nobody there. Or you may get stuck behind a tour group checking out. Who can tell.

Don't forget to have change for the tolls!!! Grab a handful of dollar bills and quarters. Or check whether your car rental company has any type of prepaid Ezipass for the tolls - they may have gone completely cashless. They were still manned this time last year. Make sure you give yourself enough time to pull into the correct lane if you're paying cash (usually on the right) so you don't get stuck with a fine.

Captain's Grille in the Yacht Club Resort is an international buffet breakfast, similar food to Cape May Cafe but without the characters and much cheaper. I would allow a minimum of 1.5 hours to KSC, and take plenty of 25 cent coins, there are lots of toll booths in both directions.

10.30am should easily give you enough time at KSC.

If you've got dining credits left over you can always just use them to buy whatever you can at the food court at the Pop in the grab and go section, and take the food on the road.

You can use table service credits to get quick service dining and snacks, you just can't do it the other way round.

For some reason we had one table service credit (meal) left over at the end of our last trip, not sure how that happened as I thought I had covered it all, so the kids went in to the food court in the middle of the afternoon right before we caught the ME and the server let them take lots of cookies, chips, fruit, muffins and sandwiches in exchange for the table service credit - saved me having to buy any food for our evening flight to NYC.

I think with you wanting to get on the road to KSC, a character meal (as much as I LOVE them), can be time consuming. Waiting for characters to come around, not wanting to miss any of them when you see them over the other side of the room.

It is a hidden gem. We always order the buffet as you get access to nearly all the food that is on the menu anyway. The reasons I suggested Captains Grille is if you do a character meal it can be a long wait to get seated and then not wanting to rush the character experience. Captain's Grille being in the Epcot Resort area is close to the I-4, Boma as much as we love it, is a longer drive.

Just with Kennedy remember it has two sites and the last time we ent we didn't realise that and the weightless/simulator is at the 2nd smaller site...we missed it.

This time I think we will start there and then drive down the road to the main campus (hope that makes sense)...we're doing that the same week..29th Sept...
