We are staying at POR in August and got the free dining offer, we've never stayed on-site before. I understand that you get 1 TS, 1 CS and 1 snack per person per day but it is flexible when and where you use it.

We will have breakfast on most days but looking at Boatrights and Riverside Mill breakfast menus I can't work out what you get for a TS or CS credit.

Can anyone please help explain how it works for Breakfast (I think I'm OK with Lunch and Dinner).

Yes. The whole dining plan is very flexible. We had Snacks, Counter Services and Table Services for breakfast at various times during our holiday. We were staying at Pop last year on the DDP, and we used snacks and counter services at the hotel. We had:

Snacks: Cereal with milk (the milk is a special mini pot - plenty for one helping of cereal!); box of doughnuts; piece of fruit

Counter Service: Pancakes with syrup and two drinks

Table Service: The catering facilities at Pop do not offer a Table Service option like POR does, so we had to go off sight for them, but we went to several character and non-character buffet breakfasts - Chef Mickeys, Crystal Palace, Breakfastasaurus, Princess Storybook Dining, Cinderella's Royal Table, etc.

For us, we found it more beneficial to use our Table Services for breakfasts, and enjoy the all you can eat buffets, mainly because my sister is fussy when it comes to food and the lunch/dinner menus would never have anything she likes! We would fill up on breakfast and wouldn't need to eat again until 3/4pm!

We are staying at POR this year, and I have been looking into all the food options, and as far as I can make out, I've come to the following conclusions:

Boatwright's is a Table Service restaurant. If you were to have breakfast there, you could pick something of the Entrees/Main Menu, a drink, and usually with a table service you have a dessert, but those are not given at breakfast. I think last year you were able to have a starter instead, but not entirely sure as our breakfast TSs were all buffets and not selective like Boatwright's. This year the DDP has changed slightly (starters are not included) so I'm not sure how that effects the breakfast TSs. :confused3

Then for a CS or snack, you'd have to go to Riverside Mill or Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory (POFQ). Generally, anything that is $4.99 or less is counted as a snack, anything above that is a CS. Starters/desserts are (unless a signature starter/dessert) are classified as snacks, and anything on the main menu is a CS.

That is based on what we were able to have a Pop. Not having been to POR before, there might be some variations, but I know that the above seemed to be the general rule last year. I'm sure someone who has stayed at POR before can correct me if I have any of that wrong!

Hi,
I can probably help regarding breakfast at Boatwrights as we ate breakfast there last October.
Using a TS credit, you are only entitled to a breakfast dish i.e Cinnamon Rolls, cooked American breakfast, pancakes etc.... There is no buffet option. You also get one drink. Nothing else...no extras like toast. Certainly not the best option to use a TS credit. Having said that though, we were on free dining last year when we stayed at the POFQ and it was just TOO much food to eat, we were giving away credits to people in the end!! We were leaving at 11am on our final day and it worked out great to use one of our remaining TS credits for a sit down breakfast to fill a little time. The breakfast was lovely as well.
Another thing to consider is to book Boatwrights for your first evening. We didn't think of it, but when we arrived exhausted (after travelling for almost 24 hours with a baby and a toddler), we just fancied something light early evening before heading off for an early night. The Riverside was really busy and noisy and we just wanted to collapse somewhere quiet so we chanced our luck with Boatwrights as we had the TS credit anyway and it was great to sit there whilst the children slept and just have a light meal. As we didn't feel like a dessert we took one of the Apple Pies with us and stored in the fridge for breakfast the next morning. This was great as due to the jet lack and our systems all over the place we woke up starving!!!!
We also found that on rainy days we'd end up cancelling TS bookings in parks and eating at Boatwrights, however everyone has the same idea, so make sure if that happens to you, that you book early that day.

Thanks for the info, I much clearly now.

janeyb - great idea about Boatwrights on the first night. We get in from England early evening so will need something to eat but like you, won't want to go far. I think I'll book an ADR just in case it's busy as I'm going mid August.

We're staying at POR 14th to 28th August, might see you there :goodvibes

I believe that a CS breakfast has now changed and you get 2 drinks, if you buy a refillable mug and fill that with coffee/tea and get 2 bottled drinks for later :thumbsup2

Last August, free DDP again, we sometimes got 2 CS breakfasts and shared them between the 4 of us and then also got 2 CS lunches to share! (remember portions are huge!) Breakfast isn't normally a very good use of your credits (I'm not much of a breakfast eater) as it's much cheaper and not as much food as a lunch or Dinner!

Just my opinion but when we get to our hotel we are so tired we really don't want a proper meal so just grab a CS meal from Boatwrights, have a swim and crash!

There is lots of great information on the dining boards, remember to book your ADR's soon (I can book on 16th Feb!) as the restaurants will get very booked up! Oh and if you like steak you MUST try and get LeCellier in Epcot!

Any questions just ask :goodvibes
