Breakfast time

Can anyone suggest what to do about breakfast. I have to have a morning coffee before anything else and don't fancy having to go looking for drinks and food too far away from the hotel (Yacht Club). I've read about milk being available in some places but how handy is it and where can you buy the cereals or other breakfast items. Also we will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary when we go is it worth mentioning to receive a little special attention? This will be our first visit and I've got millions of questions a lot of which have already been answered by reading everyone else's questions. I'll introduce ourselves me45 DH44 DS12 and another DS9. Thankyou in anticipation.

we usually keep cereal and milk in the room for the kids to eat for breakfast (except when we stay in concierge)...

i think that the yacht club rooms have little pots in them for heating water, along with coffee and tea....but i can't remember for sure...you could contact them and ask....

the little souvenir shop in the yacht club probably has a few things in it (milk, donuts, possibly cereal, etc)...
the Beach Club store (the Beach Club is right next door) probably has more stuff available since it also has villas with kitchens..
so if you can't find what you want in the yacht club store, you can go to the one at the beach club..
and if that doesn't have what you want, there is a little store on the Boardwalk right next to the Boardwalk Inn that has a nice selection of cereal, juice, milk, cheese, lunchmeat, donuts, snack foods, etc etc....it's just around the bay....about a 10 minute walk...

i just remembered, i also buy the bags of Lender's bagels (available in at least one of the stores i mentioned above). In the morning, the kids eat them with cream cheese and then during the day i carry them plain (no cream cheese) in my backpack for them to snack on in the parks (they like to munch on the cinnimon raisin flavor ones when standing in line).

I also take along little plastic sandwich bags (those ones with the ziplock that can be reclosed). I put cheerios cereal in them for them to munch on in line as well.
My daughter is one of those skinny eaters, who needs to eat all the time or pass out from hunger. So i always have stuff for her in the backpack with me.

plus they both carry bottles of water.

Welcome to the DIS!

I have stayed at The Beach Club several times but never the Yacht Club. However, I seem to remember that there used to be a place in the lobby that serves bagels, fruit, donuts, coffee etc for breakfast. You could buy a refillable mug and just pop downstairs each morning and grab something while the rest of the family is getting ready. You can take it back to the room and eat while you take turns to shower etc.

They didn't have coffeemakers when I last stayed at Beach Club I dont think. I know they have added mini fridges so maybe they do now.

if they don't have a little hotpot in the room, there is a restaurant in the YC (the yacht club galley) that serves breakfast....maybe they have takeaway coffee....and in the Beach Club, the Beach Club Marketplace opens at 7 for breakfast....(the beach club is right next door...the two resorts are connected by the swimming pool)...

or change your reservations to concierge

i really can't remember if there's a hotpot or not....i stayed in so many different hotels this past summer it's hard to keep them apart in my head....

Thanks for the welcome from you all. I feel like part of a very select group! I'm starting to get addicted! I'd love to stop concierge but it's hard enough saving up enough to stay at the YC.

I would be surprised if there was no coffeemaker in the rooms at the YC but not having stayed there before I can't say for certain.

We need Claire L to see this as she has stayed there before I'm sure.

Beth is right that you will be able to buy breakfast goods at the shop at the Beach Club, if not the Yacht Club.


When is your trip? I love the location of the YC and it is a fantastic looking resort. DH and I had a good wander round there last year.

Our trip is not until October 2007 but I like to be organised and there seems to be a lot to think about. I'm waiting to find out the school half term dates so we can tag a week onto that and go away for two weeks. I've got plenty of time for all those questions I need answers to!

We always take teabags with us cos the ones in the US are awful (most people will agree with me on that). I also don't recall seeing instant coffee much - the coffee makers in the rooms (at OKW) take a filter bag of coffee so it might be worth taking your own coffee too.

Hello, and welcome to the DIS

If you do have a coffee-maker in your room (you could always ring the resort to ask about this), it will heat water hot enough to make coffee, but won't boil it if you want a 'decent' cup of tea.

I can't step outside the hotel room without a cup of tea in the morning, so I always take a travel kettle plus some teabags. When we go to WDW we also take a selection of cereal bars so that we know we can have one of those if it looks likely we won't get breakfast until later - particularly if we're going to a park for Extra Magic Hour.

As well as all the suggested places to get breakfast items in or near the resort, you'll be able to get all sorts of breakfasts in the parks from the full-service and counter-service restaurants and from vendor stalls. You'll never starve in WDW!

On our first trip, we wouldn't set out for the day until we'd all sat down for a good breakfast in the hotel restaurant, and we thought we were doing well to be in the parks by 10:00am. Now, we fit in breakfast when it suits our park schedule and it works much better for us
