I just checked out the menus for RPR breakfast, and have decided to bring granola bars and V-8. I cannot believe the prices at the hotel. It seems like CityWalk has reasonable prices for dinner, but we'll either have to go there or to the parks for breakfast. Unless, anyone knows some little resort nook where prices aren't quite so eye-popping?

Good luck, my friend. Lunch and dinner for my family of four was an EASY $100-plus per day (no alchohol) anywhere at City Walk; I can't speak for breakfast because I couldn't afford it. I found the food prices quite offensive and unneccessary, particularly when you're already paying through the nose to stay at one of the on-site hotels.

I dunno, my trip this time just wasn't the same warm and fuzzy, and the food prices were part of the reason. Even less family-friendly than before, it seemed to me, although I realize that "family" orientation is not neccessarily the focus at Universal/City Walk. Ah well, life goes on.

I found Nascar Cafe and Pastamores to be the most reasonable, but again, I don't know about breakfast.

I don't eat breakfast but I get up early enough to go to the World's Largest McDonalds on Sandlake and I drive (15 minutes round trip). McDonald's breakfast is the best alarm clock that I have ever found.

I typically bring cereal and buy milk in the shop at the hotel. The price for a pint is about what I pay for a gallon at home, but DS and I share it so that does not seem too pricey for breakfast.

yay!! didn't realize they sold milk at the RPR shop!! i won't be bringing cereal this time (donuts, poptarts & danish for us), but now i won't be drinking water w/ breakfast...i can have my milk...........and drink it too!! :cool1: (DH & DS drink apple/orange juice....which, I really don't care for)

And of course, this is why I tell everyone to stock a cooler before checking in.

Most limo services will make a stop as a perk.
Buy a styrophome cooler in the beer isle, stock it at the grocery store, fill it with ice at the hotel, and when you check out just leave the cooler next to the ice machine.
Having doughnuts and milk in the room will save you lots of money and time getting ready.

You don't have to eat every single meal from the cooler, but having drinks and snacks in the room will save you a lot of money, especially on breakfast because you can buy doughnuts and leave them on the table with the milk in the cooler on ice.

We bring breakfast food, it saves us money & time...
oopss forgot to mention...we also bring drinks & snacks to save money. We will eat one meal out per day...we aren't really big eaters though. We will have breakfast in the room, have snacks with us in the park. Then we will eat a late lunch & then snacks again later.....

i ship a box of food to myself. i usually cost me around $12-$15 to ship a 25 pound box. i send mini water bottles, juice boxes, bread, peanut butter & jelly, cookies, cereal, fruit cups and other snacks. saves me so much money! we have breakfast in the room and are usually at the pool at lunch time so i pack sandwiches. the only money i spend is on a slurpee, ice cream or other snack in the park and dinner. the kids don't complain as they get to have that 1 special snack a day and eat whatever they want for dinner. i usually have breakfast in a restaurant only once (our last day) and i haven't had any complaints.

We treated ourselfs to breakfast at the Islands dining room twice while we were there. We all thought the food was great. I did enjoy the break from eating breakfast in the room. But I did pack snacks, Creamcheese and crackers, PB&J & cereral, so most mornings we ate a light breakfast in the room. I really don't think we spent all that much on food. We did go to Margaritaville twice for a late lunch, I think 3PM. That held us over for the night. I just made my kids PB&J latenight, or order a pizza.
Remember you can also get pizza delivered to your room by flippers. I wouldn't get the resort pizza. It's small and expensive. I didn't like it at all.
There are definately ways to save on food.

We always eat breakfast at Croissant Moon when we are going into Islands of Adventure. The prices are not bad at all and the food is very good and filling. They have hot breakfast croissants that two people can easily share and this summer they even came with some fruit. With the preferred annual pass we got an additional discount. I love eating at this little place for breakfast. There is inside and outside seating and you can people watch while you leisurely eat.
