Hi Everyone, We have a 4:15 flight home and we are taking the ME back to MCO. I currently have a Cape May ADR for the 5 of us that morning and we are staying at POR. Is it going to be a long trek getting from our resort to Cape May? Should I make a ADR at a park instead and spend the morning maybe walking around one of them, plus dining before returning to the resort to catch the ME. I would rather do "something" the last day than spend the morning on transportation all day.

We have never been to Cape May Rest. or that resort at all for that matter so is the food worth us heading there or should we stick to what we know?

Any suggestions at all....

Hi, I too would like the same advice !! We are also at POR ,flight leaves out at 4.30pm so i gather pick up will be about 1pm? Do we check out early and store our luggage? We currently have Chef Mickey booked for 8.30am. Should we look for something closer and if so where would it be ? Thanks

I would think an 8:30 ADR at Chef M. is more than enough time. I have a ADR booked for Cape May at 10:30. The last trip we finished packing up in the morning, took our luggage to the storage facility (locked with security) at POP (including our hand luggage and even the laptop - we were given a ticket to retrieve it later) It was great, we went off to Downtown Disney, shopped, ate then came back for the bus.

I have always thought the ME leaves for the airport earlier than it needs too. For example for a 4:30 flight the ME will probably say 1:00 to catch the bus. I understand it is in case of problems and to keep everyone on time but to get to the airport 3 hrs early is a bit much. Last trip we caught the next bus after the time suggested and did just fine. No doubt some will disagree with me.....

We did a 9:30am Chef Mickey, when we were staying at CSR and our ME had us leaving at 3pm. That ended up being bad timing for us - not from an ME time - but for the check out time. We should have done an earlier time so that we were done and back to the resort by 10am to ensure enough time to pack up and get checked out. OR an hour later got all checked out first. We ended up with a rushed ending to our Breakfast - a race back to the resort and crazy time getting out of the room.

Granted this was all followed by over 2 hours of relaxation by the resort pool waiting for our ME time. But I wish our ADR would have been a better time for resort check out.

Not disagreeing with you, but letting you know you were very lucky! A Magical Express only stops by the resort IF there are people scheduled to be picked up. One doesn't just drive by every 30 minutes. You could have very well been stuck at your resort with no bus. And even if one does show up, it could very well not have had extra room for you.

You are scheduled to ride a certain bus back to the airport. If you are not on that bus, Disney has no further obligation to get you back to the aiport. Therefore you were very lucky first off that a bus came by, and second, that it had room for your family. If one of those two things didn't happen, you would have had to pay for your own way back to the airport.

And while 3 hours may seem to be an excessive amount of time MCO recommends getting there 2 hours before your flight. So that only leaves an hour. And you have no way of knowing when you are picked up if you are the first and only resort that the bus will be stopping at, or the first of 4. And that hour goes by quickly when you are making the rounds to 3 other resorts.

You were exceeding lucky that you were able to hop on another Magical Express bus. It is not something you should ever do though!

We may have been lucky but it was a risk we were willing to take. We were prepared that if a bus didn't come or was full we would hop in a cab to MCO.

I would suggest getting not going to Cape May but choosing a park ADR instead. We sorta had a similar situation on New Years Day. We checked out of CBR in the morning, that was hectic enough and drove our rental car all packed up into the Contemporary. They allowed us to park our car there since we had a 12 ADR at CM and the parking lot had a lot of empty spots. They told us at the gate many people had checked out and there was plenty of room. We went into MK for a while and barely made it back to the parking lot to leave at 4 to drive to the airport.
I think on your last day you are trying so hard to fit a few more things in and packing up is a pain too. I would want to spend my last day in a park. I wish we had made an ADR in the park instead. Even though we were just going to Chef Mickey's, the transportation to/ from the MK was long. And it was raining, too, which made it less crowded but hard to walk when you are soaked.
Actually, in your case of having to be back at the resort by 1, I would not have an ADR that day.

Hmmmm . . . this is making me second guess our 9:15 a.m. ADR at Boma on our departure day. Our flight leaves at 3:18 p.m., so I'm expecting a 12:00 p.m. ME pick-up from CBR. Think I should rethink this?
