Is it ever worth it to get a counter service breakfast when on the dining plan? What's included in a breakfast counter service?

We usually get one counter service per day and split it - sometimes I'll get extra bacon for DD - then we'll get a counter service lunch and split it - some of those "meals" are huge - - and perfect for splitting!! I've also brought granola bars from home, but I usually throw them in my day bag in case of emergencies!

dont forget you can get free water at any place - so we'll get a large soda, no ice, and free water - again splitting the sugary soda, but all drinking the water!!

I would think you could do alright doing a CS breakfast (the breakfasts seem big to me cause I'm used to just a bowl of cereal). Then eat an early TS dinner - perhaps using the snack in the mid-day.

I'd like to try this sometime. With young kids/families it might not work so well if they are used to several smaller meals. I like the idea of splitting some CS meals though!

caroline - you asked what was included for a CS breakfast. Here is a sample of what I got at Pop Century's food court for breakfast:

Four chocolate chip pancakes (AKA: the Chocolate Chip Pancake Platter)
One sausage patty
Three strips of bacon (on some days they put two strips on the platter though)
One pint of strawberry milk
16 oz. Orange Juice

In other words, a platter breakfast (some days we had waffles with meat other days pancakes with meat, or one day a waffle with fruit topping and whipped cream but no meat with that one), and 2 drinks. Since we had refillable mugs, we always got a milk and a juice along with the CS, we just got coffee in our refillables and not as a beverage with the CS. This one breakfast was shared among 3 "not big breakfast eating" adults. We also had some breakfast bars we had brought along to supplement if need be.

We hadn't planned on using CS for breakfast, but we found we were often sharing 2 CS among 3 adults for lunch on many days, so were starting to accumulate CS credits and started using one here and there for breakfast.

Hope this helps answer your question. This was in Sept. 2007, it was warm, so the heat took down our appetites somewhat.

I hope you enjoy your trip! Planning is half the fun too!

I had a breakfast pizza (I don't know if that's the exact name) at Saratoga Springs as a CS meal and it was enough for 2 people. We plan on sharing CS breakfasts or using our snack credits for pastries, boxes of cereal, whatever they will allow in 2008 as snacks. Hopefully they will stick with the anything $4 and under rule.

We always use CS credits for breakfast. True, you might get more $ value for the DDP for a lunch or dinner CS, but when I want & need breakfast, that sure has a lot of value in it!

We also share CS breakfasts. DDad and I would get the sampler platter and the two drinks included, and that was always plenty. (ex: eggs, potatoes, sausage, biscuit, coffee, orange juice)

Plus, if you share a breakfast, you have more room to enjoy your DDP snack later in the morning!

I love breakfast! I think it's worth it to use a credit or two for the most important meal of the day! :thumbsup2
