Breakfast on Disembarkment Day

Our family group of 22 has now decided to take a late flight on the day the cruise ends instead of trying to rush. So my question is how LATE can we leave the ship? And will we be able to get breakfast onboard before heading off to the airport. Thanks so much for answering my questions!

Usually 9 o clock you have to be off or a little after that. Yes you will have breakfast

I believe everyone is requested to leave their cabins by 8:00AM and off the ship by 9:00AM. Yes, you will be able to have breakfast onboard before
you leave. Cabanas will be open early that day and if you wish table service you may return to the restaurant you ate at the night before and have
breakfast there.

So, if we leave the ship at 9am, roughly how long do you think it will take to get our luggage, go through customs, then take the Disney shuttle back to the airport? Again, we are 22, with 12 kids ages 4-18. I'm hoping that takes a few hours since our flight isn't until 3:50 (JetBlue)!

When we sailed in August, you could get breakfast in the buffet until 8:30am. We ate in our cabin until a little after 9am. We were nowhere near the last people off the ship. It took us 20 minutes or so to clear customs.

DCL wants and NEEDS you out of your cabin by 8:00 am. They want and need you off the ship by 9:00/9:30 at the latest. They need to get the ship ready for the thousands of people that are excited to board in just a few short hours.

As mentioned, Cabanas is open the last morning for breakfast OR you are automatically assigned to the MDR you had dinner in the night before. If you have main seating you will dine very early or if you have late dining you will eat later in the morning on the last day.

What we do is head up to Cabanas around 7:30 am (leaving our carry ons in the cabin), eat and then head back to cabin to be out by 8:00 am. We then head off the ship.

There are plenty of shops at MCO to kill some time before your flight.

There are a lot of variables in that equation. How much luggage and how quick to collect all of it, how many customs booths are open, how much (if anything) you have to declare, bathroom stops for the little ones, etc. I would hope it would not take more than an hour for your entire group to be through customs and boarding the bus. Once you are on your way to MCO, it should take more or less an hour.

Unlike embarkation, disembarkation is not "magical". I submit that you want it to go as quickly as possible. I would much rather hang out longer at MCO than spend one more minute on disembarkation than is absolutely necessary.

That is odd, typically 8am everyone has to be out of the rooms. Once you head to breakfast, you have to take your bags with you, no going back.

We are out of our cabins by 8 for sure. To prolong our experience half of our group of 21 ate breakfast in the MDR the other in Cabanas. Then everyone hangs out in Cabanas with their last cup of coffee (trying to stay out of the way of CM) making our way off the ship at 9.

One other thing to mention, since you aren't familiar with the last day breakfast process and you have a large group. If you go the main dining room, you will have a set time for breakfast. As mentioned, if you had main seating for dinner on your cruise it is really early. (I forget the exact time). If you have the late dinner, it is a bit later, but in either case, you need to be in the dining room for breakfast at EXACTLY the stated start time of your last day breakfast. I was five minutes late because I realized when I got there that I had left our comment cards in our room. I should have ordered first, and then gone back to the room. Those 5 minutes delayed my breakfast quite a bit, and my son, who came 15 minutes later than the stated time, could not place a breakfast order at all. (Though our server did go into the kitchen and find him some food). So just be warned. You could do Cabanas instead, but it will be crazier than usual there too, and with 22 of you, the easiest thing might be the dining room, provided you can all get there in time.

I realize you kind of want to waste time, but I recommend using the onboard airline check-in. It should be available with JetBlue and your flight time. This way, you won't deal with any of your luggage, except carry-ons. It is free, except the cost of bags, if applicable. This also means you won't deal with grabbing your bags at the port, but you still have to go through customs. Plus, most airlines won't let you check in luggage more than 4 hours early. Using this program you won't have to worry about sitting with your luggage until they let you check-in at the airport.

Realistically, even dragging your feet you will get to the airport by 11-1130. Disney wants you off the ship and also wants the buses back in Orlando area to get the next group of passengers to the port. Hanging out in Orlando airport stinks, but it isn't that bad. It is a pretty nice airport. Also, security lines can get quite long and annoying. Lacking the stress of rushing for the flight should make the day a lot more relaxing. Also, not having to deal with the luggage will make it boring, but stress free. A lot of people end up in the same situation and really a 4pm flight isn't too bad. We've waited for a much later flight before.

How about spending some time at Cocoa Beach? We had a late flight after our Southern Caribbean cruise a couple years ago and we got a day pass at one of the hotels in PR and enjoyed the beach and pools. Trust me you don't want to linger. By then the "Magic" is over. There are literally vacuums everywhere and a bunch of stressed CMs running around and everything is closed. It would be much more fun for the kids to play in the sand

Our server actually gave us the advice. One family member grabbed breakfast for everyone, while the rest of our family remained in the cabin. We ate there and walked out with our bags.
