Where to eat breakfast? I have dinner ADR's all set. I figure we'll grab lunches at the parks - counter service or something on the go. (We have the dining plan but that really doesn't factor into decisions as long as we can do easy )

So... What to do for breakfasts? We (me,hubby,3 kids-7,5,2) are staying 8 days at the WL. Can we do quick breakfasts at the hotel? Do them at the parks? Help! Do you need breakfast reservations?

If you will be on the dinning plan, I suggest that you use a counter service for breakfast , skip lunch and use your snack to eat something if hungry. We were in Disney in Sept. on the dinning plan, and found even at the resorts (asmo) the breakfast were very large and filing. We did not get hungry till evening and just grabed fruit or snacks when we did.
Also, did you think to maybe use a ADR for breakfast and use the counter service for dinner.
Example here was are ADR and dinning plan for a couple days.

Day 1 CS-lunch-Pizza Planet Table service ADR- Dinner Sci-fi Dine
(this was are arrivng day and the only day we ate lunch)

Day 2 Table service ADR-Breakfast Castle (CRT) CS Dinner -Cosmic rays
Day 3 CS-Breakfast at resort Table service ADR Dinner -1900 Park fair

I guess it depends of what people usually eat when not on vacation. But twice, once at WL (where we stayed) and once at GF we got counter service breakfasts. They were pre- molded, cooked, boxed..whatever but they were yucky. One day my stomach wasn't right until dinner time. Now if people frequent fast food restaruants and have coffee and donuts for breakfast, then they would do fine. If you are looking for something a bit more healthy I suggest stopping at a grocery store on your way in and getting some pb, bread, bananas, apples, granola bars, yogurt, juice, etc. And once, the kids ate and then were hungry at AK, they have fresh fruit stands and smoothies plus the counter service meals seemed better there. We went to the Crystal Palace for breakfast and it was awesome.

well, there are tons of places that i can recommend, but it all depends on what you want... if you want to do something quick and cheaper, or a sit down meal at a restaurant, in your resort, at another resort, or at the park that you'll be at that day.

also, if you are on a dining plan, and wanting to stick to it, the food court at the resort also counts for counter service.

if not... try out the food courts at the resort, you don't need reservations for that though... but for sit down places you will usually will need a reservation, depending on how busy the time of year is. if you are the type that is up early and get there early enough, you may not need one. and
you can try the in-room dining at wilderness lodge, this was pretty decent. but we just ordered the breakfast basket and fruit plate. but, here is the menu for that: http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/menuwlb.html

whispering canyon cafe also does breakfast, i have only been there for dinner, but have heard that the breakfast is also good:

those are if you want to do breakfast at the resort. if you want to do breakfast at the parks, there are character breakfasts too. i am not sure if you already have character dinners planned, but with the kids, you'll definitely have to do at least 1 or 2.

there is chef mickey's (contemporary), ohana's (poly), 1900 park fare (grand floridian), cape may cafe (beach club)...

or the parks:
MK: main street bakery (counter service), crystal palace, cinderella's royal table
EPCOT: princess story book breakfast (in norway), bakery in france
MGM: starring rolls bakery (counter service)
AK: donald's Breakfastosaurus at Restaurantosaurus

let us know if anything sounds good, we'll be glad to let you our experiences...

i guess it depends on the counter service... sorry you had bad experiences.

but i am picky on what i order, (i hate the food at fast food places - like bk and mcdonalds - i'll get sick) and have never ordered something that looked or smelled like it was as you say. but they also have things like fresh fruit, fruit salad, yogurt, granola bars, cereal, oatmeal, etc, which is usually what i get. in my experience, they usually have something for everyone's tastes.

If you're staying at Wilderness Lodge, you definitely should do at least one breakfast at Whispering Canyon Cafe. They have an all you can eat family style breakfast for $11 per adult (beverages are extra). And the atmosphere there can't be beat.

Be sure to ask for ketchup.
