Breakfast help

We've tried 'Ohana, Cape May and Tusker House. 'Ohana was my favorite because it's brought out family style so it's nice not having to get up and go to the buffet. The Stitch waffles were adorable and tasty. Plus we had a beautiful view of the castle. Cape May was our 2nd favorite - I love the beach outfits on the characters. Tusker House was fine. We typically plan one breakfast per trip and the location would be based on what is most convenient to our resort.

Having done both, I would definitely choose Garden Grill over Crystal Palace, unless the Pooh characters are important. Food is way better at GG, it's family style, so much more relaxing than a buffet, and the character interaction is the best we've had at any character meal.

We loved Crystal Palace for breakfast! Akershus was fine, the food was good and interaction ok, but the price was high. We did Garden Grill for lunch so I can't speak to the breakfast food, but it was easily the best character interaction we had at all of the character meals. I think that is because it is a small restaurant so the characters made their way to us so many times and played with the kids.

I'd probably see which fits better into your schedule for each day and any other meals you're planning, and which characters you prefer. We love CP so would pick that (I'm admittedly biased toward bouncing w/Tigger:tigger:) but have not gotten to try Garden Grill yet, so can't comment on it. I am hoping to try it next trip, especially if we can get PPO to jump on Soarin.

Garden Grille is served family style at your table. While Crystal Palace is an extensive buffet.

I'd see which fits your park touring plans, characters offered, and finally food options.

Both are great choices for your children's ages.

We were just OK with Garden Grill breakfast at Christmastime 2015...characters were abundant but the food was just ok. I hear they have taken away some of the options also.

We love Crystal Palace though. Characters are great and lots of good food to choose from...we try to hit CP every time we go.

However, I would want a pre-park opening for either. So, I would only do GG if I got pre-park because that is the best part of that venue (close access to Soarin). CP is great for pre-park but could work for a late breakfast also so you can get in early and do a bunch before it then go sit for breakfast.

how do I get a pre-park res??

Just an FYI - PPO brft at MK is usually our first choice, trying to get 8:05-8:10, but there are a few caveats now. First, during busier times, they sometimes increase hrs., and change regular opening at 8 instead of 9 (or 7 in our case the week before Christmas!) making it no longer a PPO time, a week before you are going, when you planned it out months in advance. We were lucky able to change it during the week, and make it a late brft, so we could take advantage of the first few hrs with shorter lines.

The other reason that PPO was always great was to enjoy Main St and get castle pics with very few people there, and then to jump right into rides when you were done, while others are just coming in. But recently they have changed it to let everyone in to wait on Main St. w/welcome show on castle stage instead of at train station. So I think that will take away much of the advantage, so I think we will plan for later brft, like 10:15, so we can do a few rides first, preferably on EMH day to give us more time, then set up FP for after.

We (my 17 year old DD at the time) loved Garden Grill for the sumptuous skillet cinnamon bun!!!! Family style, thus not getting up and down fighting crowds was a plus too. The rest of the food was good too and the characters were great even for us adults! We also enjoyed Crystal Palace and liked the Pooh characters, but it was a buffet, and crowded. You can't go wrong with either. I would choose based on your children's favorite characters and your park planning/schedule since you have only a weekend. We like booking a very late breakfast/brunch time. We bring granola bars or such as we head out early to either EMH or RD at our park of choice. We ride the rides before the lines get long and then eat our big meal later as the park is filling up. We then exit the park for a mid day break and return later with FP's. A late booking also avoids the problem of the park opening hours changing closer to your trip date. Enjoy!
