Need your help! On our check-out day I'm planning on booking a quick breakfast before we fly out. We'll be checking out of the Grand Floridian; however, I'm craving the Tonga Toast at Kona Cafe, but am afraid that we'll waste too much time traveling over to the Polynesian via monorail. What do you think? Has anyone tried the maple-vanilla french toast at the Grand Floridian? Perhaps it's better to stay put...

We've never eaten at either place for breakfast, but the last 2 years we have had to leave for the airport at 9:00 a.m. and found it much easier to eat at the resort we were staying at ::yes::. I made ADRs for 7:30 a.m. which gave us enough time to have a "not so rushed" breakfast, go back up to the room to gather all of our luggage, and be on our way :goodvibes. My advise is to stay at your resort if you will be leaving soon after, as that will make it a little easier (it did for us, anyway) :).

If you go super early you should be ok....but that maple vanilla french toast sure does sound good enough to stay at the GF!

The walk from the GF to the Poly is really not bad, either. Then you don't have to wait for the Monorail to go all the way around the loop.

I don't know about the french toast, but the GF Cafe has a killer eggs benedict ...yummy! I haven't found another place on resort grounds that has that!

I think it would be easier to walk on over from the GF to the Poly. To take the monorail you would go all around in the opposite direction, right (maybe I am confused there but I don't think so). (I see someone already said this - and I SWORE I read all the posts!!) Maybe you can do a test walk earlier in the week cause you can get Tonga Toast at the counter service at the Poly - Captain Cook's (Counter Service) has Tonga Toast -- no reservation necessary!

Now I will say that I haven't had a chance to eat at the newly improved Captain Cook's but I have seen many reports on their Tonga Toast & it looks just the same as at the TS. I have had it at Kona --- YUM!!!!

We've had breakfast at both and much prefer the Grand Floridian Cafe. The hype of the Kona Cafe has made it a bit hectic and at times quite loud. We have no problem with the food at either location, but the Grand Floridian Cafe is much quieter and relaxed.

Have eaten at both several times. I say go with Kona, especially if you need some coffee

I have eaten at both, and while I love the Tonga Toast, it is not worth stressing over, especially on your last day.

I agree with a pp that Kona is loud and "busy" whereas the GF cafe is bright, sunny and much, much more relaxed. I would much prefer to end my vacation this way.

The food is delicious, too by the way. :thumbsup2
