My first trip to OKW is in Sept. How's the character breakfast at Olivia's? My kids love Pooh, and I'm hoping he's a regular. Do you suggest any kind of reservation or is it walk up seating?
Thanks

On days when there is no character breakfast, the breakfast is pretty good.

During the character breakfast, they bring in cold pre-plated food. The breakfast is pretty poor. THe character interaction can be good, but the food is less than desirable.

Olivia's used to be consistantly mediocre for every meal. They have vastly improved over the years. It is a pretty good place to eat now....except for the character breakfast.

pooh is a regular, when we were there so was egor(the donkey), and tigger (okay I can't spell), who cares about the food when your niece is having the time of her life. (even if she was half asleep at the time).Although I remember the food as eatable(is that a word). If you want good food go the Cape may (the character interaction is not great - but the food is). My opinions you may vary greatly.

we also ate at Chief Mickeys, when she had the opportunity to vote - she voted for Olivia's again.

Sounds good. First time around, I want the kids to enjoy the experience, which means Pooh is more important than food.

Thanks

If Pooh is more important than food, Olivia's charactor breakfast will be perfect.

While you are there, take a look for my picture. When they remodeled, they moved the pictures and I haven't been able to find mine....it's me, a gallant looking guy with a rugged, handsome appearence, my wife and kid....

Hey! They moved our picture too! We were just there in mid March and our pic was moved from just over the exit of Olivia's to ???? Let me know if you can find it..... look for a little less rugged, yet more handsome and sensitive.... ;)

I be glad to look for the pix. Based on the "rugged" description, sounds like we're a community of lumberjacks. lol <IMG WIDTH="15" HEIGHT="15" SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gif" alt="razz">

It has been a few years since we did Pooh at Olivia's, but I do believe he was only there on certain days of the week. (Sunday and Wednesday?) You may want to check this out to see if it is still true. In addition, I would try to get priority seating for any character breakfast you wish to attend. They do sometimes book up and those guest without PSs can wait a rather long time. (not what you want to do if you have young kids.) If you want a Pooh Breakfast, I reccommend the Crystal Palace in Magic Kingdom. The food there is much better than at Olivia's. The omlette station is a big plus for u

According to the stuff we received last month the character breakfast is 3 times a week. Wednesday was definately one of the days they did have the breakfast, not sure about the other two. I know Friday wasn't because that was our departure day and we were hoping for the character breakfast and ended up just having a nice breakfast in Olivia's w/out characters.

I have a hard time deciding the best breakfast on property. It is between the Crystal Palace and 1900 Pak Faire.

Crystal Palace has such a beautiful atmosphere that really does feel like turn of the century(last century). The food choices are all great and there is such a wide variety. You are right there on Main Street, so you finish breakfast and are in the MK. The omlette station is a great place to vist three times during a meal.

1900 Park Faire is at the Grand Floridian. I like walking around the GF before and/or after eating. The room is very nice, but doesn't have that super special atmosphere. The kaliope thingy is neat and the food is also varied and good. There is also an omlette station.

Crystal Palace has Pooh and co, 1900 Park Faire has the Mad Hatter and Alice and friends.

Same characters and MUCH better food at the Crystal Palace.

Also, to add to Rich's comments about the Crystal Palace, the Pooh characters are there every day for breakfast as opposed to three days per week at Olivia's, so scheduling may be more flexible; priority seating would still be good since the Crystal Palace appeals to a much broader audience than the predominantly OKW residents who frequent Olivia's. I think the character breakfast is the best meal choice at the Crystal Palace, although I'm not sure if I can manage Rich's three visits to the omlette station (not that I wouldn't like to, but this sounds like more than a week's worth of eggs for me, all in a single meal). We had dinner there last year and the food was okay, but I'm getting too old to make the most of an all-you-can-eat dinner like I could when I was much younger ;). I still can put away a hearty breakfast, though, since I have all day to work it off, between walking the parks, the pool, and now the exercise facility at BWV.

Crystal Palace food was wonderful. The kids had their own "bar" that was lower and that they could help themselves. The characters made sure they were there for us and the help was also great. But then again, you asked about Olivia's, didn't you! I also was considering Olivia's for our OKW stay this Oct. but now think I'll stick with Crystal. Anyone try the one at WL with Pooh & Co.? (still waiting to hear about our paperwork...contract approved though!)

Here we go...........

That is how our family feels about Olivia's breakfast. The 1st and last time we had a breakfast there was atrocious. The eggs were the powdered (but scrambled) kind and the waffles are really small. In fact, DH and DD both had upset stomachs after eating there. Too ironic, I must say! For a really good breakfast, I would recommend The Crystal Palace. That was great.
