Where is the best place to eat a yummy, filling breakfast at DCA, preferably fairly close to the entrance (I will have hungry children, 5 & 6, no stroller, who aren't going to want to walk too far until after breakfast)? Or maybe somewhere in Downtown Disney close to the DCA entrance, or at the Grand Californian? What is the Surfside Lounge like? Thanks a lot!

Where will you be coming from? One of the DLR hotels? From the parking structure? Are you trying for rope drop? (& what time does the park open at?). Are you looking for a quick/counter service or a table service place? Surfside Lounge is at PPH, so not that close to the entrance to the park. Haven't eaten there, so can't comment on breakfast.

We like grabbing breakfast at White Water Snacks at GCH, but sometimes it's not open early enough for us to get to the park early for RD. https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/grand-californian-hotel/white-water-snacks/menus/
But, it's really close to the GCH's entrance to DCA, which is handy (if you're staying at a DLR hotel. Otherwise, you might not be able to use that entrance until after 11AM from what I've read). My kids like the mini Mickey waffles and the French toast (more like French toast fingers that are fried?), both come with a side of grapes. They also have breakfast burritos too.
Coming from DTD side, there's always Starbucks (open really early-5AM!-unlike the rest of DTD). La Brea Bakery also has an Express. Or perhaps Jazz Kitchen Express? https://disneyland.disney.go.com/di...ct/ralph-brennans-jazz-kitchen-express/menus/

Catal in DTD has a great table service breakfast that can be had for about the same price as La Brea Express once you are out the door.

Whitewater snacks is a good quick casual breakfast.

Character breakfast at Storyteller's Cafe is right inside the GCH entrance to DCA if you want a full sit down meal.

Starbucks in DTD or DCA has breakfast sandwiches for grab an go.

Or just grab a churro and call it good!

The GCH entrance to DCA is available to resort gusts AND patrons of the hotel restaurants. Just present your receipt from breakfast and you can use that entrance before 11am along with the resort guests.

We'll be coming from BWPPI across the street. No, we don't need to be at DCA at rope drop. My kids do better if they start the day with a good breakfast - I don't mind if it's table service, as long as it's not a huge wait. Thanks for the ideas!

There is Mimi's Cafe, Denny's and IHOP right near your hotel. In DTD the closest to the park is Le Brea Cafe. They have an express section and a sit down section. Inside the park the only breakfast on BVS would be Starbucks. You'd have to walk to Carsland fir Flo's or towards the pier for Pacific Wharf Cafe.

I thought BWPPI came with breakfast?

I thought so too, although I remember reading recently that they were renovating their breakfast room? Maybe it's not done yet?

We love Flo's in Carsland. Our kids had the kids breakfast, hubby had the tamales and I had the brioche french toast. So yummy! Our kids are 4 and 7 and they rode 3 rides first thing in the morning before even having breakfast at Flo's, which totally surprised me lol

It comes with breakfast but some may want more then what they offer. Even during the remodel it has a go bag from what I read.

I'll second this vote as a good strategy for taking advantage of rope drop. You can do Cars Land attractions first thing and then after 45 minutes or an hour just hit up Flo's. I have never seen it too crowded at breakfast, and it is a decent value. I wish they had the regular menu available at breakfast time as well, but most people should find something they want to eat.

I think it is open now and I think there is definitely enough there for a 5 and 6 year old to load up on! My 11 year olds do great with the breakfast there and it's open in time for MM.
