Heya. I'm really excited about going on Indiana Jones during our next trip, but I've been hearing a lot of stories of it breaking down and having to be evacuated. I know these things do happen every once in a while, but it seems from what I've heard that they have evacs there twice as often as any other ride. Also, we have a little one in our party that's terrified of skeletons, so while she would probably be able to handle passing by them (like in POTC) I think she'd lose it if we would have the luck to break down in front of something creepy! :sad2: Is it really as bad as I've heard???

It's an intricate ride and yes, it does tend to break down.

But as for the little one, she can't be THAT little, as she'll have to be a solid 46" tall to get on it.

You might want to find some ride videos on youtube, if she is tall enough to ride, to get her prepared.

Indy has been having a lot of problems lately...I've been there three days over the past couple of months and it's been down for part of the day each time - sometimes down more than once during the day. It's pretty hit-or-miss right now, unfortunately.

I went on it several years ago with a skeleton-phobic kid - it *didn't* break down at all, but he still was not at all happy. There are an awful lot of skeletons on that ride - including the ones that pop out at you.

My DH did not get to ride it this last trip because every time he tried to get a fastpass, the ride was broken down.

In Aug/Sept 2008, it did breakdown alot! 6 times during our 8 days in Disneyland!!! It usually started running again later on during the day but still....my sister and I couldnt beleive it! Another one that brokedown alot was Toystory Mania: 3 times in 8 days.

I have to second all of the above. We got to DL once or twice a month, and Indy is always broken down at east once a day. Once they didn't open until 4 hours after park opening!

And there are a lot of skeletons. Lots. And bugs and creepy things. Our family loves it, but I would hate for your child's day to be ruined because she got the crud scared out of her.

Go on YouTube. Always over prepare...

and have fun!

We noticed Indy was broken down quite often on a few of our trips as well. We were OK with it, just thought we would hit next time. It really didn't detract but we went a lot in a 12 month period. :)

As for Indy and skeletons and being afraid, you definitely need to you tube it and have her watch it with you. My DD8 has been riding Indy since she was 6 (she was just tall enough, my kids are short) and it's one her faves but she's never been freaked out by anything creepy. In fact, she likes to stand in front of our TV with a flashlight under her chin and say "I'm the Leprachaun" LOL She's a corker! :) DD12 rode it first when she was 9 and she was a little bit scared, until she rode it and then she couldn't wait to get back on it! LOL Anyway, always better to over prepare, especially on rides you think might scare her.

Clearly Indy is ready for a huge refub. since I hate to say that poor thing seems to have a lot of issues as of late. I have seen it down every trip this year at least once a day, which is bad since I go rather frequently.

We were on it a few weeks ago and it broke down just as it entered the rat room. It was really dark (pitch black :scared1: )and the lights didn't come on for about 5 (long) minutes. There were a few small ones in our car so we turned on our cel phones and cameras (with LCD) to get a little light. A CM arrived in about 8-10 mins. and we were stuck there for about 30 min. Unfortunately, the park was closed when we exited so no more rides that day. I felt the 30 mins. it took to evacuate was too long and stopped by City Hall to make a complaint. The CM took the information and said "thanks" :confused3 She also told me that during the recent earthquake it took over 2 hours to evacuate Pirates (I guess the point was that I should feel lucky it only took 1/2 hr. :rotfl2: ). The reason we were stuck so long was we had to wait for another CM to come as it takes 2 to have you exit the car and walk out. Even the CM was getting annoyed at the delay.

With all the trips I've taken to DL, I've only been on one other ride that broke down and it was Indy, about 7-8 years ago. That time we were evacuated much faster.

But it does seem that Indy does break down alot. As others suggested watch Youtube. If my DD was afraid of skeletons, I, personally, would skip it. JMHO.

Have fun!

We were on it a few months ago when it broke down. Right as we approached the eye it broke down. I told my kids it's because they looked into the eye. :rotfl2: We were there for about 10 mins when a CM came running singing the Indiana Jones theme, lol. By this time we had our cameras out and were recording everything. We were there for about another 10 mins when the ride started again. When it was over they let us stay on and ride again since our ride was interrupted. We had fun, even with the ride breaking down. My kids thought that it was hilarious!!
