Breakdown of Value Rooms in AK

didn't stay there until DVC went - boy, did I miss a good resort.

It is pretty wonderful.

the villas at AKV are even prettier than the rooms at AKL.

if BLT wasn't going to be a DVC - would buy here.

Has anyone ever stayed in the value studio? We are booked for January in a dedicated studio value. I know the room will be SMALL...but we are trying to save points.
I stayed in a value studio lat month. In the picture, the paper's on the floor for perspective, but it doesn't work very well. The bed was next to the window. The view was lovely!

Yes it seems this may be the case. I'm renting points from someone for 5 people, 1 of which is an infant. I was trying for a value studio, but when the person I'm renting from went to make the reservation they told him he had to book a standard in order for us to have 5, with the 1 being an infant.
Ahh well..now I have a better chance of getting a better view anyway! ::yes::

We are arriving tomorrow :cool1: with 5 in a value studio, 1 being 2 years old. They had to do some checking, but it was OK in the end.

we are thinking about doing OKW especially now that our last night it appears is not availabe at AKV value studio. We waitlisted but there are so few values that I don't know if it is worth it.

The studios at OKW are considerably bigger than any other studios and especially than the values at AKV. There are two beds instead of a bed and a sleeper. The beds are VERY high. You will definately want guardrails for your children. DS and I stayed there when he was 7 and I was very worried about him falling off!

I think if you can get your waitlist, you will be find at AKV. No there isn't a lot of space, but your vacation is what you make it!

Normally, this is true...

I believe they are far more strict about the occupancy in the values. I'm booked in a 2BR value in October. I wanted to just get a 1 BR value-- (2 adults, 1 5 year old, and 2 infants) but I wasn't allowed to. I was told by two different CMs that the infants will count towards room total when it comes to the values due to space constraints.

Max. occupancy in a 1 BR value villa is 4 (same as studio).

Either it depends on the CM you talk to or DVC changed their policy. I was able to book a ded. value studio for me, dw, ds(6), ds(4), and ds(1).

we switched to a 1BR value and I am so excited!!!! Has anyone stayed in one of these?

I will over the weekend. Was this for your January trip? Are you set in one place now?

Bobbi:)

We will be in a 1 br value in 19 days! I will do a live report from there to let you know what we think of it.

awesome...please report back about it!!

We are doing a 1BR value for January4-8...with the night of the 8th waitlisted. If it doesn't come through, we are maybe going to do 2 nights at the end at Universal or try the Swan/Dolphin. My husband has been wanting to try it.

I was checking my vacation details on DVC site, I notice there are two different descriptions of Value Studio:
the trip i just booked listed as a "Studio Value Jambo" &
under the pass trip section, the trip I took last month listed a "Ded Studio Value Jambo "
I remember we had a dedicated studio facing sunset savannah. Does it mean when I make the reservation, they already assign which room type I will get? (VS assigning the all the studios reservations few days before arrival.)

At AKV the dedicated and lockoff studios are separate booking categories. When you call to reserve an AKV studio you will be booked into either a dedicated or a lockoff at that time and it will be stated on your confirmation letter.

I've only heard of one case so far where someone was booked into a dedicated but got a lockoff (or vice versa) when they checked in. That was shortly after AKV opened so it may have been due to an inexperienced CM or maybe a room had been taken out of service.

Which of the two categories has better chance to have a savanna view I wonder?

Here is what Mike said earlier in this thread: :thumbsup2
So your best chance would be a dedicated studio (4 chances out of 8). The lock-off would be 4 chances out of 10. ::yes::

  • Dedicated Studios
    • 8 Value
      • 4 Savanna View
      • 4 Standard View (Pool)
  • 2BR lockoffs:
    • 10 Value
      • 4 Savanna View
      • 4 Standard View (Pool)
      • 2 Standard View (Parking Lot)

You got a point there Allison.
Plug I think it would be quieter without that connecting door to the 1 bedroom.
