Do you have one?

Do you like it?

I'm thinking of getting one and am debating about it currently.

My husband is now taking sandwichs to work everyday and we also enjoy warm bread at dinner on occasion.

I have one and I use it twice a year at Christmas and Thanksgiving. If it broke, I would definitely have to go out and buy another one because I make my homemade dinner rolls using the bread maker and I would never make them the old fashioned way. Those rolls are a tradition now and I need the bread maker to do them.

I got one off of eBay and I love it. It is the horizontal type so that the sandwiches fit into a regular sandwich bag. There is nothing like homemade bread!!!:cool1:

Those sound good...

I had a very high-end one (I can't remember the name, but it was Japanese) and it was okay. It made the traditional loaves. I think it's fine for making the dough and then baking it in an oven, but when baking it in the machine, I thought the break turned out funny (those little bolt marks on the bottom, for one) and that you didn't get that great bread-baking smell. Also, texture-wise, it was a little dense. Still, if you want bread in a hurry, it's not a bad way to go.

I sold mine on ebay for almost what I paid for it, so I don't feel like it was a total loss.

I think if you're going to spend the money and don't want to commit to making bread by hand, a KitchenAid Mixer with the dough hook attachment is a much better investment and will yield better results.

We love ours. We make a lot of pizza dough with it!

Piecey, your icon "I'm so crafty I make people" is too funny.

Sorry, off topic.

Off the top of my head:

Makes 16 rolls

Put all these ingredients in the machine:

1 egg
1 tsp of vanilla
1 tsp of salt
.5 cup milk
.5 cup water
1/3 cup of butter
3 cups flour
1/3 cup of sugar
1 packet of yeast

Put it on the 2 lb. dough cycle.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface.
Separate into two balls.
Roll out each ball into a circle with a rolling pin.
Spread some melted butter onto top of each circle of dough.
Use a pizza cutter to cut each circle into 8 triangle shapes.
Roll each triangle into a roll shape.
Let rise for 1.5 hours
Bake (I cant remember the degrees or the time.)

I'll look this up later to make sure everything's right, but that's what I remember.

Had one, used it a couple of times then sold it at a garage sale. :lmao:

I had one and used it a lot. I tossed it when we moved because the nonstick stuff was starting to crack and flake inside and that isn't good. My favorite thing about it was setting it up to make raisin bread and then setting the timer so that it ended up being done just about the time I got out of the shower in the morning. Then I'd pull the bread out to start cooling on a rack while I got dressed, and take warm raisin bread to work. It made me very popular in the office, besides the fact that I just really liked it with my coffee in the morning. ;)

That's how I feel about mine. I use it all the time to make dough, but I don't like the way the bread turns out if I bake it in the machine. So I let the machine do all the mixing and kneading and then I pop it in the oven to bake.

I've had a couple, they always sound like such a great idea, they get used a couple of times, and then relegated to a cabinet until I get rid of it. So, I won't be getting another.

i've thought about getting one but the kind of bread i would want..the long skinny crusty loaves..you can't bake in one..so why get one.

maybe that will be my new years resolution..to try to make those long skinny custy loaves.:rotfl:

I have one that I use mostly to make dough. DH's mother made delicious Swedish crescent rolls and he loves them. I adapted the recipe for the bread machine. It will only hold 2/3 of a batch, but I am willing to make the rolls more often using the machine.

Speaking of which, I haven't made any in quite a while. Maybe tomorrow will be Butterhorn day.....
