Bread bowls

Can you get the soup/salad separate from the bread bowl at the wharf (as in, get your soup in a bowl and take the bread to go)?

I can never eat all of a bread bowl...and it gets so soggy...but it would make a great breakfast the next morning.

When I was there a few weeks ago I requested the soup separately and they put it in a separate container. I still ate it outside there but I prefer to dip my bread in the soup.

The answer is YES!!!

I do this ALL the time! I could not possibly eat an entire loaf of bread with my veggie chili, so I ask for them to bag it up for me. It works out great!

This is one of my fav things to do. I order the bread bowl on the side of my soup/salad. I'll ask them to slice the bread bowl and put it in a bag. The yummy bread ends up my snack for the entire day. Def helps when u need just a lil bite to hold you over til your next disney "must do" meal.

Haha, what a great question! This makes me so excited because I'm the same way and it's the number one reason I have never ordered any soups/bread bowls there before. I never even thought to ask. It's nice to know that I can do this!

Seriously, great tip! I never thought of this, and we've always ended up throwing away bread. BTW, the chicken salad at the wharf is one of my favorites. Other than the beer soup they have during food&wine days (I'm not a big soup fan =)

I saw that someone had chili inside the bread bowls? Where do you get those at? Can you order the bread bowl serarate there too? Also do they have cheese and onion on them? I always see them but am afraid to order them. Please help cause they smell so yummy!

We've gotten the chili ones at PAcific Wharf in DCA - they are yummy! I think there is a place in DL, too - NOS maybe?

I don't remember onions on top of it, can't remember about cheese as it has been a while.

The chili is from the same palce...Pacific Wharf Cafe. Yes they have onions & cheese (or you can have them leave it off) And a bonus it is vegetarian YEAH!

You can get the same/similar at harbor galley by the Haunted Mansion.

I can tell by the shocked replies how many people never read my last trip report, LOL. I'd gotten the tip before the trip, and it was a definite bonus!

The one drawback is that you see how little soup/chili is in there, but the reality is is that it's very filling, and then when you see how much bread you actually don't feel like eating in that sitting, it makes you feel retroactively overstuffed.

I loved snagging a butter packet and putting some on my sourdough and eating it with the veggie chili....

Next time we go and we get the veggie gumbo I'm doing the same! Already excited about it!

I am so glad I read this thread. I love the bread bowls but could never finish the bread. Having the bread cut up and snacking on them throughout the day is a great idea.

I think they have this at coke corner also.

Besides Coke Corner, you can also get them at the Golden Horseshoe in Frontierland. Don't know if they have onions on them usually, as I always ask for onions to be left off of things that might have them, without even looking at the menu.
