I've seen ads in the airline magazines for this place on I-Drive near Universal - it looks absolutely delicious, but that's what adds are supposed to look like.

Anyone ever try this place? Good? Expensive?

(I tried searching the board for "brazil", so I don't think this place has been mentioned before.)

I plan on going on my next trip. I just read a nice review in the August 2004 edition of Orlando Leisure magazine. I hear the cost is around $38.95 plus drinks and dessert. Check out their website for some more great pictures. http://www.texasdebrazil.com/

Yeah, more great photos on the website - the airline mag ads sent me to the site. (But I pity anyone trying to look at it with a dial-up modem!)

My trip is next month - I'm leaning toward taking the plunge, though it would be the night after I eat at 'Ohana, and the night before Boma. (Can you say "culinary overload"?)

Are you perchance going before me?

I won't be down until winter. Please post a review if you do end up going. By the way, Boma is our favorite restaurant at Disney. I alway go on flank steak night (Tuesdays and Fridays).

This is much like 'Ohana's, at the Poly... we have them here (Dallas) and they are yummy! =0

I'm a fan of 'Ohana - after discovering it in 2002, I make it a point to go back every visit.

Would you say that Texas de Brazil is better quality than 'Ohana? Is it worth the extra money and the drive? Or would it be like having the same meal two nights in a row?

Like I said earlier, the way things are set up, I'd likely be doing those two places on back-to-back nights next month.

Well, that's a hard question! The thing to 'Ohanas is that it's Disney, and has a Disney/family friendly feel to it... you know, overlooking the park, family games, etc. We would never choose Texas de Brazil to eat there because we have one here, of course, we tend to try to only do Disney exclusive places while at Disney.

BUT

I think the food selection is wider at Texas de Brazil than 'Ohanas... there are more meats to choose from (though shrimp is not included but is at Ohanas - course the peel is on so its a pain), and I think the steak is better than 'Ohanas, at least when we went. There are more sides to choose from, too, though I ADORE the Ohana sides. It's also less crazy than Ohanas, which is a bit loud, family, activities going on, etc. $38.50 is alot for a regular restaurant back home (price for Dallas location) so it's not as casual, I've found, than 'Ohanas... because the price sorta brings with it more adults... nicer dress... etc. You know?

The presentation is much the same, with the skewers of meat and such, so I think it would be overkill to do both back to back, but on the other hand, my husband LOVED 'Ohanas so much that he could probably eat it two nights in a row. You could always hit one, and if you're really not feeling it the second night, just change dining reservations =)

Hope that helps some!
