I keep reading posts about the "dreaded" Brazlian tour groups. Having (luckily) never encountered one, can someone tell me what it is about them that is the problem? Is it the sheer number of people in the group? Or I have read something about them shouting? (and if they do shout in an attraction/at a parade/Fantasmic why doesn't WDW do something about the behavior if it disturbs other guests?) I think everyone should be entitled to enjoy WDW but if a group of guests regularly interferes with the enjoyment of other guests then something should be done--including banning that tour group until they can behave). Kind of like what happened at ASSports recently where the sports teams got banned.

I have no problem offending, so I'll say it... they tend to be teenagers, loud and obnoxious, and pretend not to speak english when you tell them to straighten up and quiet down.

DITTO!

They also like to ride together and they can make a wait time jump up 100 mins all of a sudden...

The far bigger impact beyond behavior issues.. is how they move in large groups and can affect lines (and Fastpass distribution) so bizarrely.

oh and the one that burns my butt... one person from the group will be waiting in line in front of you, then they whole group has to butt in line because they were in the bathroom and they were holding the line... that is when I hit the ************************************************************************* (I'll just put in the stars since the only way to describe my level of anger is with foul words) I hold my ground though, and tell them, back of the line, you are not butting in front of me, period.

I think the worst part is getting behind them in line...or somehow getting mixed in with them...the wait times go nuts!

Have been in the parks with many Brasilian and other tour groups recently. No problems what so ever. Things have changed markedly from several years ago.

Any large group is going to affect wait times, eh? :)

Teens are exuberant and sometimes boisterous. That's kind of a genetic tendency I think. ;)

But over the holidays, the marathon weekend, and even last weekend, many groups, no problems. :thumbsup2

From a teenagers point of view, they aren't even acting like teenagers!!! I was at WDW in July with my aunt and uncle and I kept getting lost in their crowds all the time. Once I was mistaken to be one. A lady tapped me on the shoulder and very polietly said "Honey, you cannot jump in front of the line just because one person was holding your spot." I looked at her like she had three heads and very polietly responded, "Mam, I'm not with them." She turned away in embarrasment quicker that I don't know what.

But yeah, just to agree with everyone else, the worst is when one of the group members gets in line before you. Than you're in trouble. :sad2:

I have a funny story. When we where there last July I had read on these boards all about the tour groups. We where at blizzard beach and so was a huge group as we went up to get some food my sister held our spot at a open table. When we sat down a group of kids came up and sat next to us then more and more came and tried to squeeze onto the seats. I held my pooh sized body firm while I ate and told my son do not let them push you off your seat. They kept nudging him over finally my son says to them will you stop I am trying to eat here. They laffed and thought he was cute so they started to try and talk with him and I said it was ok. They taught him to say hello in brazillian and he was teaching them hello and please.More came and they stopped there own group from pushing in by saying something and the rest just stood up and ate. After we where done my son said Good job and gave them a :thumbsup2 they smiled and I gestured to them that they could have the rest of the picnic table and they said in english thank you too which my son said Your welcome LOL. We had no trouble at all after that one incident and I hope to never run into the groups that are described on Dis.

A story with a happy ending.. I love happy endings!:goodvibes

Last December we were in line at ToT and were down in the "boiler room" almost ready to load into our elevator. All of the sudden there was a group of teenage girls getting ready to load into the other elevator and they started SCREAMING at the top of their lungs. I thought for sure they had just won magical fast passes or something to do with YOMD...the CM looked at us and shook his head and mouthed "Brazilian tourists"....the look on his face was so funny...

Fortunately for us that was the last time we saw them during our trip - boy were they LOUD!! :)

We encountered what we called the blue, green, and red group last weekend. Whatever direction they headed, we went the other way. The main issue, just like the OP said, is their size. There were over 150 of them. They're harmless, just loud. You're captive in line and sometimes you don't want to hear the same song screamed out for an hour straight.

I am tolerant of a parent taking a child to the restroom or for whatever reason a person joining their group in line.....but a group pushing past me is not going to happen in this lifetime. I have encountered groups of rude kids trying to push their way past me......not happening. I will remind them in English or Spanish....the line starts here or la linea empieza aqui! Yes, I know portuguese is the official language in Brazil, but I think they still get the message.

We encountered a couple of Brazilian teen groups as well as a group from Venezuela. There were a couple of teens that cut in front of us to join their group but it really didn't bother us since it was only 2 ppl joining something that looked like 30 or so. We tend to have a LOT more patience while on vacation.

They were boisterous but then again, they were teens on vacation so it was understandable.

The only thing is that since the groups were large, they tended to take up the whole walking path making it difficult to maneuver in front of them.

We found them a bit amusing only because my DH speaks fluent Spanish and could understand a teeny bit Portuguese so he would translate some of the things they were saying about each others group. It just seemed a bit overwelming to have any group, foreign teens or otherwise taking up so much of the walking paths and such. Otherwise, no big deal.

Cast members report many problems...because these kids are mostly upper-class and taught from birth that the working class, and anyone that isn't upper-class is not to be respected or listened to... just a cultural thing...not really the teens fault :confused3

I've run into them 3 times. Twice bad, once good... when I see them now, I go the other way!

I was at the World last week with my 2 1/2 DS. I also encountered the red, blue, yellow Brazillian tour groups. They were generally nice but soooo many of them. We stayed at ASMovies and so were the groups. That was the worst part. The cafeteria was crazy crowded and the kids didn't seem to pick up after themselves. If I saw a group of them waiting for a bus for a certain park I just picked a different park that day. While at Jedi training FOR THE DAY (my sons favorite thing) I was talking to a family from Brazil and they said schools are out for the months of January and July. So Beware!!

At Fantasmic Wed Night, we counted 6 different tours (or at least 6 different colored flags).

At one point, Disney even played a recorded message in Portuguese.

In the parks we saw many many tours but never did see any of the bad behavior that is often reported. But then again we were never that close to any of the tours to get a first hand experience

Fantasmic- Disney even played a recorded message in Portuguese.

Good! Maybe Disney finally figured out how to say "Don't wreck the show with your competitive tour group chants, to see which group can yell the loudest" :woohoo:

We were wondering what the chanting was about. The announcement did happen shortly after a round of the screaming occurred.
