Brazil - the next likely pavilion

I have no problem with Brazil or any other country...as long as it's a based on a real country...

I just don't know if from a business standpoint it's such a "no brainer"...I think a lot of people are getting distracted by the tour groups...just cause they go there, doesn't mean Epcot needs Brazil.

The whole point of WDW is to make gobs of money. A giant statue of Jesus will turn off certain demographics and possibly lead them to not come to Epcot. Disney doesn't want that so I seriously doubt Christ the Redeemer will appear in Epcot. You may argue that there is other religious stuff in Epcot but none of them are as in your face as a giant statue of Jesus would be.

I agree, Brazil seems like one of the worst countries to pick. I'd much rather see Switzerland (Matterhorn), Spain (Gigantic) and Russia (Ivan Drago, just kidding).

I don't think there would be a big deal about the giant Jesus. A lot of the things Disney does around Christmas time is intertwined with Christianity. The Candlelight procession's description on the official site says the following. "Each night, a celebrity narrator tells the biblical tale of a savior born to a virgin in Bethlehem."

I do think you need South American representation. I would prefer Chile, and a whole Machu Pichu look, but I will gladly accept Brazil if it comes as it has some great aspects for a pavilion.
I do think at some point you probably need an Austrailian/New Zealand area as well....

I would also welcome Egypt and India

Brazil is kinda a no-brainer...if they are ever gonna expand...
- Great main course food, but food Americans now know...everyone has been to a Brazilian steakhouse once...and buffets enable peak Disney pricing...
- Great mass producable cart dessert (Brigadeiro) that will be wildly popular to American palates
- Great iconic liquor and cocktails (Caipirinha cocktail)
- Carnival Show possibilities - not everything can be a ride attraction, and that is a "showcase" show that could be in a big theater, ala HS and AK shows, and yet could be adjusted each year for very little cost
- The Rainforest - endless possibilities for rides or landscape
- Great natural and man-made national icons to build a really iconic nation "pavilion" (or whatever we call these Epcot nation footprints) - Iguazu Falls, Sambadrome (for the Carnival show location), Cathedral of Brasília, Christ the Redeemer, Montserrat Fort, Sugarloaf Mountain, etc
- The lack of South American nation representation in the World Showcase

- full service salon and spa providing Brazilian waxes

That's a ticketed seasonal event that is only heard by those who choose to buy tickets to it. The statue would be year round and seen by everyone.

It doesn't cost extra to go to the Candlelight Processional. There's only an extra cost if you get the dining package with the guaranteed seating.

I stand corrected. It's still an event you have to choose to go to. It's not like they're broadcasting it throughout the park though. It's easily avoided.

I guess it depends on who you are. If you're really religious and believe in something else (Aliens, Mohammed, the Fonz), you may not like seeing Jesus everywhere. But if you're like me and not religious at all, then you don't care.

That's not a ticketed event...it's just a dining package option.

But the point is valid: candlelight is in a theater and they can walk past without noticing.

Night of joy is a hard ticketed event as well...there are no other religious festivals in wdw.

Brazil would have plenty to put up for cultural representations other than that statue.

I know disney...and they wouldn't do it. At least not today's disney...in the late 70's with the old guard? Maybe.

Large tour groups, much like many of the original countries when Epcot opened???? Seems like it makes perfect business sense. Anyone remember when french was the second language on all the announcements, not spanish? I mean why would the French want to visit a "Disnified" version of their country? Because they could.

And does Epcot really "need" any countries? Not really. They need newer draws to what's already there.
