I am looking for some inspiration...:wizard:

Anyone out there take their young kids on vacation alone? I am considering traveling with DS 3 and DS 6 and am looking for some tips / advice. Would you recommend it? Any input would be appreciated!

it is really no problem at all. I've done it twice, and assuming you take both kids out a lot at home by yourself, you should have no problem with it. it is great fun!

I'm taking my two year old to Disney World alone in May. I'm anticipating that it's going to be great and I'm really looking forward to it. I say go for it!

I took my 2 last year and we had a fantastic time! I worried about all the difficulties i'd have in different situations without my husband there to help (dining, bathrooms, rides) but it worked out great!

I took our kids by myself while husband was over seas and we had a wonderful time. Although the drive from PA to FL was long since they slept most of the way! You will have a wonderful time, the best part is to see the smiles on your children's faces!

I've taken my 2 youngest children to WDW alone twice now. We had a BLAST on the trips.

There are a few threads about this, so you can do a search to read them. But the main points I made are these:

-If your children are the type who fight over who gets to do things, or where they sit, then make sure this is thoroughly planned out and talked about before the trip.

-Play act going to the airport at home. I was so worried that my kids would do something crazy at the airport that would get us kicked out...lol. We went over everything from standing in line QUIETLY, to getting our shoes off and how to walk through security.

-Teach the kids what to do if they get lost.

-Tell the kids they can act like kids at WDW, but they MUST act like adults at the airport.

-Get the DDP. It's so cheap for one adult and 2 children. Plan on doing many character dinings. We went to the restaurant in Norway for the first time. We all loved it! Even my son.

-I guarantee the kids' bladders will be stronger than yours! lol. Tell the kids that when mom has to have a bathroom break, everyone must come along. Well, your kids are younger than my kids. My kids would say things like, "oh we'll hang out in the store while you go to the bathroom." Uh, I don't think so.

Have a great trip!

I used to take them to DL alone all the time when we lived in CA.

Now that we are over on this side of the country, I have gone twice with just the kids.

We had a really fun time. The only difference is that we had to forgo some rides because my youngest wasn't tall enough.

This time I am hoping to go with another mom so we can at least have someone watching those too little to go on rides.

My youngest is also now 40" so that helps.
