Bratz dolls? Love em or hate em?

I hate those things!! They do look like hookers! My younger DD's have been asking for them for a little while and I refuse to buy them ~ a lot of their friends have them. They said they were going to ask Santa for them and I had to let them in on a secret.....if Santa knows Mom and Dad don't approve, he won't bring those toys :rotfl:

Hate them.

I will buy her all the Polly Pockets and American Girl stuff she wants to keep those ugly things out of the house.

Oh I have to remember that. Thank you. DD wants a new play kicthen (the Cinderella kind) I told her I don't think her father would aprove seeing as she already has 2 other ones. (I actually would get it, I think it is cute, but I think DH would blow a gasket.) She said that was fine she was going to ask Santa for it. Now I have a response as to why she isn't going to get it from Santa. :goodvibes

:rotfl2: Yes I have seen the baby Bratz. It's nuts! But as I said before they sell like crazy. People are obviously buying them somewhere....

Bratz are the one toy that DH and I have decided will not be welcome in our home. DD can have Rubbermaid upon Rubbermaid filled with everything from Barbie to Fashion Polly, but there will be no hussy dolls in my house.

I refused to buy them for my dd. Not only are they fugly, but like everyone has said, they look like little hoochie mamas. Not something I want my dd to think is fashionable. And what's with the name Bratz anyway? Bratty hoochie mamas, that's what they're selling to our little girls. I like the Teen Scene Barbies - those I will buy.

I have to agree with you. I hate them! I hate the way they are packaged and the outfits!!! Terrible.

Hate them! DD (6) will see them and still says "I can't have that my mom doesn't like them". She did get one for her Birthday, that I did not make her take back, it was a "camping" Bratz, she seemed less sleezy than the others. But she never really plays with it.

My 9 & 7 yo DDs call Bratz and that other Barbie one "Hoochie Dolls" b/c they've heard me use that term in reference to various mall rats or football groupies. Guess Mom should watch her mouth!

Even at this age, they much prefer princesses, polly, sweet streets...thank goodness!

two of my nieces love them, and I will be buying them in december for christmas for them, after all theyre just dolls

I think there ok. There cute but a bad image. I mean such like (Little Devils) and stuff for girls just ya. They are kinda like little *****, but thats just me. I mean I dont think playing with them is bad, but what happened to the good old barbies. I mean a PREGNANT BARBIE? :earseek:

And bratz lipz head an feet are to big.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Oh man! That is too funny!! That is why I don't allow DD to have them either. WHY do we want our girls to admire these things that look like hookers? DD doesn't know that is specifically what I think, but she does agree that they are ugly and doesn't like them anyway. Dniece got one for a gift from someone--she was three at the time BTW--and DSIL freaked because it had thong underwear on. What is up with that??? She threw it out and good riddance.

For the record, if you can't tell, I hate them. THough they are not quite as bad as that other brand that was out a couple of years ago.

I have a feeling they were trying to get it for the market of the kids who are 'Almost done with that' I dont know. That is just wrong!

Hate'em...i'll never understand why some adults feel it is a good idea to give a toy with the word "brat" in it to a child :confused3

I do not allow my daughter to have them...she will tell you flat out that her mommy doesn't let her play with them since they look like little streetwalkers (she has no clue what a streetwalker is but has heard me say it!)....I htink they are a terrible example for little girls, I certainly don't want my little girl thinking that the way they dress is right or proper for little girls!

Exactly what I was going to say, "little streetwalkers".... the ought to come with a bus station to stand in front of. :earseek:

My friends dd got one from a friend for her birthday, Gabrielle was kind and didn't say, "I don't like these" but while they were playing dolls one of the little girls said, "She's the Mother" meaning to Bratz doll. Gabby looked uneasy and said, "Okay, but can we at least pretend she's not dressed so skanky???"

Therefore emotions don't really apply personally. I don't hate or love any doll. I know many parents that buy them and I don't know any child that doesn't own one my own included.

That being said, of course I would never allow my children to dress like them and I don't know any parent who would.

There was a thread once that asked if we were damaging our kids by allowing them to watch princess movies etc. Disney princesses are about the only non human thing that can elicit an emotional response from me at all. I personally believe the way you live your life should be the strongest influence in your kid's lives. They should know what to emulate and not to emulate based upon the moral guidelines you lay down for them. No, my children will not be waiting on any prince because they are allowed to have Disney princess merchandise and view their movies. I try my best, especially in this world to teach them the difference between fantasy and reality. Enjoy the fantasy enjoy playing but take what you can use for yourself according to what's comfortable for who you are and discard the rest.
