Brasilian tour groups?

We were there last week and encountered three tour groups. First was at Epcot and they were a small group (less than 20) having lunch. Wouldn't have even noticed they were a tour group except for their shirts.

Second was at Animal Kingdom at Tusker House for breakfast and then the Safari. We made sure to walk in front of them for the Safari since being behind the whole group would have put us in a second or third vehicle. But, there was no rude behavior.

Third was at Cirque. I have no idea where the adults were. They sat behind us and were pretty annoying. One spilled his popcorn all down the back of my chair. I had to ask another one to take her bare feet off the back of my daughter's chair. One of them kept pushing their straw in and out of their drink which was really loud. And, the talked almost non-stop through the performance. But, I wouldn't say any of that is specific to them being from another country...it was a group of unchaperoned teens.

I'm a little naive I guess, but I'm wondering, why is the thought of seeing a Brasilian tour group so objectional? Why are they an issue? Please enlighten me.

I don't get it either. I love, Love, LOVE BTG's, no matter where they're from.

:cool2:

And that's all I'm saying on the subject.

My family was at WDW late last month and saw several tour groups. Some were chanting, many were large groups, and some appeared to be from Brazil. They all appeared to be having fun!

I attribute the dislike of these Brazillian groups to RACISIM. If guests have an actionable complaint, they need to bring it up with a CM. Fortunately, dislike of an ethnic group is not an actionable complaint!

You can use even bolder and bigger letters but it will not change what I and other people experienced. It has nothing to do with nationality but behaivor and consider yourself lucky if all that you experienced was chanting. Nobody created reputation for those groups but them. We all have fun but when your fun affects others having fun, it is disrespect.

You're taking quite a leap in deciding that its racism. I guess if cutting in line, pushing me aside, chanting in an attraction, or waking my family up at 1 a.m., etc. bothers me, then I'm a racist. Makes no sense.

I guess I'm in the minority here, and never have encounter a problem with the tours, for me 100 fastpasses from the brazilian in front of me is the same as 100 fastpasses from anyone that got in line before me :confused3 the fastpasses have a return time and they have to follow the times in their fastpasses. Never hear then screaming they just walk in a big group and I understand why, they don't speak English the tour guide does, they need to follow the tour guide to be able to order food or anything else. Also I love that they are spending money a LOT of money in Florida. I have been in best buy when one tour bus was there and they were buying like the end of the world was near :rotfl2: I guess I'm just happy that they are making the economy a little better especially here in Florida.

I attribute your opinion to NOT BOTHERING TO READ ABOUT THE VALID COMPLAINTS OF THOSE WHO HAVE BEEN RUN ROUGHSHOD OVER. The actual nationality of these tour groups is incidental. The opinions expressed about these tour groups would have equally applied if they had been English, Mongolian, Arcturan, Romulan, or Pandoran. The objections have nothing to do with ethnicity and EVERYTHING to do with behavior. Many of the posters have reported that they have complained to either CMS or Guest Relations and nothing was done.

Baloney. If their actual nationality was irrelevant, it would not always be included as a descriptor. They would simply be referred to as "tour groups".

Personally, I find it amazing the issues the same people seem to have, time and time again, with large tour groups when I've never had a single negative issue with a tour group in my 20+ trips. I've seen myriad tour groups in the parks when I've been there, but the only interaction I've had is when two girls made room for my daughter to sit on the curb with them during a parade.

I just find it interesting...

It is included in description because it is description, if they were from England or France we would refer to them accordingly. As for 20+ trips, I did not have issue for 12 years, just never had close interaction till last trip, I guess there is a first time for everything.

There are MANY tour groups. It is a description, that's all. It is a FACT that the Brazilian tour groups have made a reputation for themselves. Can't be denied. Do other groups do some of the same things? Sure, but since most people seem to have an experience with THEM more so than any others it's fitting to be able to distinguish them. Yep, I've been many many times in my life and have had several encounters with them. Most negative but I never ever posted anything about it here.

The facts are, they are Brazilian (from Brazil) and they are a tour group and they cause a lot of chaos sometimes and they are pretty well known for that. So to refer to them as The Brazilian Tour groups is totally appropriate. Stop trying to make something out of nothing.

Is it OK with you if I say lots of those Brazilians are so beautiful (they are)or should I just say lots of those people are so beautiful? What people...?

Hi, ive been reading these forums for a few year but never really commented on anything but felt compelled to do so here - im an overseas visitor to the US and visited orlando in 2007 and must say that we encountered many rude ppl on our trip- many of whom felt the need to comment openly about us like they had the right to do so and NONE of them were brazilian - so much so, it actually ruined my trip and im visiting the US again in oct thr nov ( my sister lives in boston) and my cousins want to visit orlando but im very reluctant to do so - there is a point to the story - and that is- im sorry to say but the brazilians arent the only ones who can exhibit rude behaviour and while i understand the reasoning behind ppl being disgrntled about the large groups - give ppl a break no matter where they're from. :)

I have visited a couple times in July when the BTG were visiting, and I had no issues at all. I remember the summer the MSEP came back - I found the perfect spot on Main Street to video the parade and I ended up totally surrounded by the tour groups. They sat and talked amongst themselves, no chanting, no chaos, and during the parade, they were quieter and more polite than most crowds I've watched parades with. It wasn't all one group - there were clusters of different colored shirts - I would say at least a half dozen different groups were represented.

I'm not saying that people haven't had issues - I'm sure their experiences are just as valid as mine. But I haven't had any trouble with the cheerleader groups, or the Pop Warner group, or any of the typical "trouble" groups that people start threads about. I travel during Pop Warner pretty much every year, and I go in January/February when a lot of the cheer and sports groups are there. So it's not that I'm traveling at a time when they aren't around. I just haven't had any trouble with them.

This is a hot button topic.

The hoards (and that is an appropriate description) tend to be LOUD, rude, obnoxious. They cut in line, pretend not to speak English when confronted and will loudly chant, clap, sing songs while walking through the park, standing in line, waiting for a bus, and sometimes while riding a ride. They've been known to mow down unsuspecting people on pathways, and they are woefully under supervised. A bunch of unruly teens let loose in the parks. Many complain that the guides "clog up" FP lines gathering 50 or more FP's at a time for the group.

I generally just walk the other way when I see them coming.

Welcome to the DIS.

You forgot about the loud chanting and singing while in the queues. Other than the cutting in lines, that's the worst because you're stuck and can't get away.

I saw way too many on my trip a month ago but in parks I only saw chanting, when we saw them we were changing direction so it was fine however we were unlucky to live with them in a same hotel for 10 days. CBR turned into college dorm, screaming, running, chanting at 1AM, pushing, blocking your way, cutting in line at food court, and costume parties with music and everything so we could hear it at food court area. So much for relaxing CBR.

OM Goodness I would have had to move resorts!!!

I was once stuck with them for 2 days at a hotel in Miami. It was terrible. I could not imagine 10 days. I probably would have left.

This is true people can be rude but the shear numbers of them in groups is what makes it worse. Having said that, they have every right to be there. They have every right to have fun and be a "little" loud. They are kids, aren't they? I'll take their chanting (it's annoying) any day over a shrieking screaming child (makes me cringe) but when it comes to cutting in line after I have waiting my turn, or making me move out of the way for a whole hoard of them, chanting/singing on PTOC while I can't hear anything, acting as if they should "get a room", that's not nice. All 10x's over because their are so many of them at once.

This topic brings out the worst in folk. No nationality has a monopoly on the best behaviour. Closed as posters cannot stop it becoming personal:(
