You all are my "go to" for this kind of stuff.... I had a pair of loafers in the early 90s and cannot remember the brand for anything. They were similar to Cole Hahns, but not as expensive. I loved them and was wanting to see what they had to offer now....but can't remember the brand. Any ideas?

Eastland? Doc Marten?

Nope - unfortunately. I want to say it started with a "K" maybe? The ones I had just had a fringe....no tassel, but they made them with tassels too.

Kinney Shoes?

Born, Dansko, Hush Puppy, Earth Shoes, Keen.

in the late 80's, early 90s, my friends and i all wore bass loafers. sadly, they don't make that style anymore, and they were SO comfortable!

I found it finally. They were Dexters. Unfortunately it appears they are pretty much history...Payless came up on a search but they were not what I had 10+ years ago. Then I found blip that said Payless bought the name...not sure but it appears they are a thing of the past.

FWIW, Bass Weejun loafers had a lifetime guarantee -- if you wore them out you could send them back to G. H. Bass to get them repaired and reconditioned. I own three pairs, and I've been wearing them for over 20 years, but it has been some time since I tried to get new soles for them, so I'm not sure they will still do it. They still sell them, though; they are still quite popular.

FWIW, my Catholic grade school used them as uniform shoes for both boys and girls back in the 60's. We wore the oxblood penny style.

I also have a pair of Eastland hiking boat shoes that will have to be pried from my cold dead hands (or is that feet?). They don't make them in women's sizes any more, but you can still buy the men's if you don't mind sizing down. They have these great lug soles that made them great for walking over uneven ground, and I've worn them at WDW in winter many times.

I also used to use them all the time for riding in the woods on horseback, as they have that heel to keep them from slipping through the stirrup. Eastland also makes more classic loafers as well.
